Thanks doctor may ALLAH bless you i have been massaging my jaw muscles it settled and stopped my tinnitus for almost all day had very nice sleep thankfully sir
Doc I've searched for so long to find a reason for tinnitus I did your tests and my tinnitus increases volume at every test. I'm happy this is online because when you said that if the volume changes on the back teeth bitting test YOU WILL IMPROVE I started crying and still crying now. I'm 26 and I pray this will fix my ears and for those struggling there is always an answer!
I also feel optimistic because some of these changed the intensity of my tinnitus. Have you found any solutions? I'm probably a rare case, got tinnitus from an orthodontic treatment 2 weeks ago, just looking for answers and have no idea if this can be permanent.
Please do give us updates friend, I'm 26 as well, just found this video right now. Been having this tinnitus for a year now and beggining to just accept it, but of course if there is a way to stop it, I'm all in for it!!
TMJ can be corrected by a chiropractor who understands jaw movement. I had tinnitus for 10 days and I was certain it was TMJ related. My tinnitus was louder when I moved my jaw outward or to the left side. The tinnitus was in the right ear and at a very high pitch. I went to an ENT, and they did nothing. I found a chiropractor who did adjustments to my neck and back, but he never checked the jaw. Nothing changed. The next chiropractor looked at the jaw and found one side was sliding, the other was not. The side that was sliding was the side causing the tinnitus. She began adjusting the jaw and reduced the tinnitus substantially. She told me to eat only soft foods, take an anti-inflammatory, and use some specific essential oils on the treated spot to help reduce fluids and improve blood flow to the area. More treatments ahead, but the improvement is substantial after one treatment. For those who know it is jaw related, it is worth looking for a chiropractor who understands the jaw and how to adjust the jaw.
Hi John and deb. are you in the UK? I’ve had this theory for a while but I am struggling to find a chiropractor that understands. My dentist saw something strange with my jaw but at the time didn’t tell her about the tinnitus (wish I had)
The dentist did not find anything wrong with my jaw or teeths etc. Even tho it's good that I don't have problems with it, it's a real bummer for me because I really thought my tinnitus was caused by the jaw..
Just because a dentist does not find a problem, does not mean it is not related. Addressing what YOU find may still help. A good resource as a next step is the Tinnitus Recovery Score, available on my website, www.tinnitussynergy.com/tinnitus-recovery-score-part-1/ to see if something like at-home our program might be useful for you.
Hey, for all looking for hope. Years ago I had tinnitus, it disappeared somehow, then about 10 months ago I had some weird experience with "thinking" I had a hearing loss incident. THis caused stress, which I still have, that brought my tinnitus back 4 months after stressing about the incident. It is toaly curable, I havent figure it out again, but I know it is if I can figure out my over arching problem. I also didnt mention, that my TMJ felt bad during the tinnitus times and now. but not during hte itme I didnt have it. I believe it is stress realated.
I’ve watched your videos on TMJ and I’m seeing a chiropractor for my tinnitus tomorrow afternoon. My GP and ENT doctor just say learn to live with it and have never mentioned TMJ.
FalloutYogi I’ve been to see a chiropractor and I’ve had a deep tissue massage. I’m anxious and stressed a lot so I’m getting a lot of knots in my back and neck with being tense. I feel ok muscle wise but the ringing is still there. Can’t expect miracles from my first appointment though so I’m going weekly for these treatments.
Hi, I have gotten tinnitus, ear block fullness, blurred vision in the beginning of this year, and I couldn’t sneeze, and then my balance was off, and continue got dizziness. Every test MRI comes out clean. My neurologist diagnosed me as vestibular migraine and treated with Amytriptytyline. But my ears continues to hurt down below if I rub my fingers around to the neck, eventually my ENT told me to go TMJ. Meanwhile I was going to physical therapy (Spaulding branch) that corrected my balance issue and dizziness ( they applied chiropractic technique on my neck). All process took me 4 months to walk on my feet with total control of my balance. I went see Orthodontist TMJ specialist who provided my splinter two days ago. But my tinnitus does not seems to go away. Sometimes it is so loud or sometime it is very low. I do not have any hearing lost. I believe all this happened due to blow to my head both sides. Tinnitus is on my left side, but I had temporal / headache pains on right side and it is occur time to time. I just watched the therapy treatment. Thank you for all info that is very helpful, and you have exactly explained the muscle right below the ear and neck that can easily be hold with two fingers and it is large muscle that were pointed in the video that really hurts me, and it tells me that is the pressure point. I would definitely apply to reduced my tinnitus but wondering where I can get this professional help? I live in Boston MA. It would be better if I get the professionals to work on the muscles that needs to be. I do not like tinnitus that totally impacting my quality of life. Please help.
I would run it by your PT. They will probably be able to help you. You can show them the video too. And point it out to your TMJ doc. Often the TMJ and neck conditions are interrelated.
This guy is cool, he's actually on to something. Some doctors would have charged $100 bucks for telling me Im nuts. That my T is never gonna go away, deal with it.
Hooper, I appreciate your passion, but you'll need to reduce your profanity and threats in your other comments for them to receive approval for posting. This is a family channel. I hope you find a solution for your condition.
I'm 34. I noticed tinnitus when I was 25? The past few years I noticed my throat felt kinda tight where sometimes it has this chocking sensation but not really chocking. The tinnitus sound I get is the high pitch noise. I don't think I have hearing loss but I can hear the tinnitus while listening to people talk. I notice if I flex my neck muscles around closest to my ear area my tinnitus gets louder. If I clench the back of my teeth it gets louder. My jaw is double jointed (if that isn't normal) my left jaw makes cracking/popping noise when I widen it.
Wow, every single one of these tests intensified or at the very least changed the tone of my tinnitus. I have perfect hearing other than my mild tinnitus according to a recent visit to the ear specialist so I guess it's time to book a trip to the dentist. Thanks for the helpful video.
I love your videos as they are always grounded in science and research. After going through the checklist I feel there is a great chance that my T is Somatic caused by TMJ. I have a working theory that goes a bit deeper that may interest you. I was on Anti - Depressants for 2 years, I came off cold turkey then after a week I had one day back on them, I woke up the next day with T. The relevance of this is that a major side effect of this particular medication (Mirtazapine / Remeron) and many other AD's is grinding of teeth and clenching of the jaw. Furthermore, these side effects are more intense when you first start taking the meds. I am going to look into this further and see if I can create more certainty around my T, why I have it and how I can help improve it and will add an update.
Yooo im having the same issue. I just found out yesterday from an Audiologist. They did a hearing test on me. They said my hearing is perfect of a 5yr old, no hair follicle damage, and definitely not a nerve damage. But i do feel a slight pain on my right jaw. Please i need help to see what to do with my TMJ tinnitus. I would forever grateful for who so ever help me.
My jaw popped 1 year ago and ever since then i have tinnitus. I went to the doctor and he said that it's because i have hearing loss. I wear hearing aids for a long time and it can't be connected with that. I firmly believe that my jaw is responsible for this tinnitus of mine.
Hi Dr Jay, Thanks for all the well explained information. It is really helpful. Do you believe or know if neck stretching can cause jaw injury or something like that which will cause tinnitus? I am experiencing tinnitus from past 2 months or so. I did go to an audiologist and my audio gram says hearings is in normal range with a little loss of hearing (10 db) in my left ear. One night I was sleeping on my side and awkwardly stretched my neck which suddenly started ringing in my right ear at the same moment. I have been asked by my dentist to wear a bite plane at night but it was 5 years ago and I am not using it now. I am not experiencing any kind of pain or so in my neck or jaw but the ringing is there more in left ear now than right. Please if you have time do provide what you think of my situation. I would really appreciate your help. Thank you in advance.
24hours tinnitus sounds in my ears ziiiiiiiiiiii ziiiiiiiiiiii ziiiiiiiiiiii ziiiiiiiiiiii 🙋♂️I will try this treatment, thank you too, God bless you too 👍
The specialist I saw was horrible. He gave me one jaw exercise. And told me my tinnitus was a chicken or the egg situation. While my audiologist said that my tinnitus was caused by TMD. She gave me a different dentist to go see about this.
I found myself clenching my teeth so bad several weeks ago that all my teeth started to hurt. Then more recently, I started getting ringing, predominantly on the same side where my clenching was hardest. Been almost two weeks and the more I read about 'no cure' and people having this for 40 years is frightening me. I've been up all night. I talked to a nurse yesterday and may go to walk-in clinic today, but not expecting much help there. Found a nearby dentist that seems to treat TMJ and tinnitus. So I might reach out to him and see.
Same question as Unilet, any results? I myself have TMD, bruxism and an unbalanced bite (for years), I had NO TINNITUS, went to an orthodontist, and she did step 1 of giving my braces: two mini screws in the roof of my mouth (to act as "anchors" for the braces) and 4 rubber bands jammed between my upper 4 back teeth AND IT GAVE ME TINNITUS. It's been 2 weeks.
I can move my jaw and make my tinnitus louder. I can stretch it forward and affect both ears, or forward and left and affect the right ear, and forward and right to affect the left ear. The sound is like crickets but when i do this there comes a more obvious high pitched tone and the volume is higher. Does this sound like im doing any of those muscles mentioned in the video? I tried the finger test but it either hasnt worked out for me or im doing it wrong. My ENT says my bilateral tinnitus (little worse in right ear) is likely from TMJ. The musculature in my face is uneven, and my bite is actually slightly askew (when i bite my bottom teeth are a little too far left) Theres a clicking when i open my mouth wide (left side) but no pain. But smetimes i get little headaches. I had one recently felt like it was obviously emanating fron my left TMJ. Hes given me antiobiotics muscle relacants and askes me to order a TMJ appliance, which is a mouthpiece i wear at night. There is no hearing loss from my audiology test, PTA, ST and Tympanometry all looked normal. I havent done any really loud things recently and ive been to rock concerts before amd been fine. My plan next is to see a dentist about my bite alignment. I realize im asking for a ridiculous diagnosis thru a youtube comment but do you think i can cure my tinnitus by fixing my TMJ? I know its a long shot, but i hope you reply, doctor
Certainly seeing a dentist with a TMJ-focus is good decision. Predicting success is best done in response to the test on this video. Apart from that, we just treat the problem and hope the tinnitus gets better with the TMJ condition.
@@DrJayHobbs Thanks for the reply doc! Yeah my dentist (whos not a TMJ expert, although she's had TMJ herself) found some tension in the left of my face (she used her fingers on areas of my face and from inside my mouth similar to this video actually, maybe she's seen it lol). My ENT gave me his contact whos an actual TMJ specialist so I'm seeing him next. It looks like I'm gonna have physical therapy. Wish me luck!
my pulsatile tinnitus started yesterday after twisting and stretching my neck and moving my chin and neck backward and inward, and it gets louder if i jump, run and move my head and neck. i hope it goes away.
I have literally had tinnitus for a month. Thought it was due to a congestion attack I got. I tried a couple of these exercises and the ringing STOPPED. The exercise at 5:28. Literally stopped it. What do I do???????????? Keep doing this?
That is GREAT news! Well, the biggest thank you would be t purchase my program, which gives you all the details f what to do when, and more specifically, how....and tell others to do the same.
Thank you for the very informative video, I am sure many have found it really useful. I could intensify my pulsatile tinnitus with most of those exercises in your video, but I do not suffer from aches, and pains, usual symptoms of TMJ. My pulsatile tinnitus was started by a massively excessive amount of press ups and probably also poor technique. I have been to three ENT doctors with CT and MRI scans but not one has said to me that I have TMJ.
Dear Doctor, Thank you for your video. I've had tinnitus for about 25 years, but during the past month or so, it has increased considerably. The only thing that's changed, as far as I can work out, is increased stress, antibiotic treatment for an infection ( not an ear infection btw). I do notice that my jaw has been cracking a lot lately too. Finally, I took some other prescription medication recently ( would rather not say what exactly ) that I have been taking for years. All of a sudden this same medication that had no side effects in the past, caused an extreme increase in tinnitus the last two times I took it. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Well, the increased stress, the increased jaw dysfunction, and the antibiotics could certainly have added to your tinnitus. I can't know if your nonspecific medication is part of the cause, but the timing is certainly suggestive. I suggest that you complete the free Tinnitus Recovery score ( tinnitussynergy.com/tinnitus-recovery-score-part-1/ ) for some more insight into possible solutions for your case.
This is a fascinating video. Thanks so very much for posting it. My T responds considerably to very nearly all of those exercises, save for perhaps the Load TMJ. It might take time to sort, but you've given me a good deal of hope.
I'm having tinnitus right now, and it's occurring always during the exam periods or other stressful periods. It consists of different sounds. When I pull out my jaw in a forward motion, the frequency and volume go up. When I yawn, i can hear a sound in both ears (different sounds) much better (normally it's more on the background). The sounds change while yawning and are loudest on the point of maximum extension of the jaw. I also tried your video with the trigger points, but that didn't do anything. When I place both hands over my ears and then tap on the back of my head with my index fingers, the sound gets gradually louder (alot), after which it reaches a peak and starts gradually decreasing again, beneath the volume it's steady at. Then it goes back to the 'normal', steady volume. Also, the right side of my jaw makes a clicking noise when opening/closing and I can see it moving along. When I push my ears closed with my index fingers, I can hear it much better. I went to a doctor, but all he could say is that my hearing is perfectly fine (even extremely good). What should I make of this/what could be the best cure for my tinnitus?
MOST people can alter ("modulate") their tinnitus with body ("somatic") movements, but that is not always predictive. Watch, starting at this point: th-cam.com/video/Ub7nv1pEtZE/w-d-xo.html . Sir, I have T for almost two years. I been in many doctors and had checked my ears, they said my ears are clean. I eat their medicine but it get worst. now I do have vertigo also. what shall I do. I did general check up but everything is fine the doctor said.
Hi Marty. I have 3 recommendations for you to know what to do. Since you have seen your doctor, and they have ruled out diseases needing drugs or surgery, our program should be helpful. 1st: this video and the 2 that follow give some good explanations and more specific evaluations that help predict improvement from tinnitus: th-cam.com/video/35o9p_jQXTk/w-d-xo.html 2nd: This is a bit of a secret, since I have not announced it to to the public. Thanks Doctor I believe it's my jaw causing my tinnitus. When I open my mouth it gets louder especially when I move my jaw in a forward motion but clinching does nothing to the tinnitus. Could it still be the jaw causing it?
I have tinnitus on my left ear since 10 years now, I had a perforated membrane in the left ear but no tinnitus, the tinnitus came one day when I was playing football, maybe my jaw was hit I don't remember, I had a plug in my ear to not get water inside and screamed loud, I think that may have caused it. But I also have jaw problems since then on the right side it doesn't hurt but when I open my mouth it clinches. Also when I do these exercises my tinnitus gets higher pitched. Can it be TMJ?
A good resource as a next step is the Tinnitus Recovery Score, available on my website, www.tinnitussynergy.com/tinnitus-recovery-score-part-1/ to see if something like at-home our program might be useful for you.
This is so informative!! I am so glad I stumbled on this video at this particular time..I’ve come to the conclusion my T is definitely jaw related..my T was aggravated after doing some exercises..now i just have to figure how to reverse..
I have tinnitus that intensified immensely after a car accident, in which I got a concussion. The neurologist sent me to a ENT who tested my hearing and said it was fine, but he thought I had TMJ issues. The ENT sent me to a TMJ specialist who I really did not like, he had his assistant make me a mouth guard (before he even examined me) that did nothing for tinnitus, but gave me jaw pain. He wants to randomly try different things, and I dont really like that approach. I have no other symptoms of TMJ, but I did your pressure evaluations described in the video and they all intensify my tinnitus. What do you suggest?
The next step is to get your Tinnitus Recovery score: www.tinnitussynergy.com/tinnitus-recovery-score-part-1/ . This helps you know what is most likely to help. You can then know what tools/techniques to apply and get help with.
Tinnitus increases when: - I clench down on my night guard - I yawn Tinnitus started after a blow to the head jaw ear. Concussion, whiplash and possible small hairline fracture of jaw on superficial area that did not affect function. Who do I ask my dentist to see? A TMJ Specialist? Who makes these ‘Mago Guards’ that help correct a crooked or imperfect bite? MAGO SPLINT THERAPY. Bioesthetic dentistry principles seek to restore natural jaw position, relieving muscle tension that often leads to a bite problem, jaw pain, headaches and other TMJ related symptoms. Doctors may recommend the use of a splint designed to reseat the jaw joints into a more natural position. Thanks!
A TMJ specialist would be a good practitioner to see. I have a set of self-help protocols that can complement the treatment with your specialist at www.TinnitusSynergy.com
I got tinnitus a few months ago from an ear infection and I still hear it, but I only started to notice my TMJ a month or so after the ringing started. Is that normal? Ive never had any jaw problems prior to tinnitus and it seems to get stiff/achy of its own accord. I’ve also got scoliosis so I’m misaligned and so have always had a stiff back/neck etc. I’m having my hearing tested soon so will be interesting to see if my hearing is normal.
My ent dr says it's hearing loss because I can't hear high pitch sounds but that's what my tinnitus sounds like other than that I hear everything else perfectly fine??? Is it hearing loss
If neither the TMJ nor the Neck video evaluations show promise, it is more liekly brain changes secondary to hearing loss. A good resource as a next step is the Tinnitus Recovery Score, available on my website, www.tinnitussynergy.com/tinnitus-recovery-score-part-1/ to see if something like at-home our program might be useful for you.
This is really encouraging - thank you so much! One question: I am definitely a „TMJ type“ and my dental therapist suggested a dental splint. What is your opinion about these? I once tried an „aqualizer “ for just a couple of hours and my tinnitus got worse...so there is a connection, but I am scared to make it worse.
I am almost done with an analysis of splints for TMJ. For tinnitus or TMJ, generally, they are helpful if they cause you to clench LESS. For teeth health, they may be helpful even if you clench, to prevent tooth damage. To avoid creating new problems, it is important that it cover the entire length of the teeth, all the way to the tooth farthest back. I have tried the Aqualizer and spoken to the company about its use. This is the one I prefer: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MECB4I3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They will even let you mail it to them to modify it (for free) for you if you need.
Hello, i've tried almost every thing you reccomended. My tinnitus (only left ear) dissapered completly when i preformed the task, no rining at all. I've had problem with my leftside jaw before and gotten it ''fixed''. When i bit down, my left disk ''popped'' out and back in making my biting motion a bit weird. Insted of going straight down when biting my biting went a bit to the left and then straight again. I often have tinnitus in my LEFT EAR only, i've tested my hearing and scored really good. - But the test the doctor took, showed that i could ''sometimes'' have problem hearing people full sentences when in a crowded area, can this be caused by ''TMJ''? Can my ''hearing'' also get improved if i seek help for my TMJ? - Like i said, only in the left ear, and only problem with my ''left'' jaw! Thank you for your time =)! 21 years old, if that helps! Never had problem with my ''hearing'', in my teens or youth!
Hi Norrum, Hearing difficulty can certainly be caused by tinnitus, and tinnitus can be caused by TMJ dysfunction. So, yes, your hearing can be improved by correcting TMJ in a way that improves your tinnitus. It doesn't reverse hearing loss from damaged hair cells, but it can help by reducing the extra noise tinnitus causes.
I have tinitus, tinitus while moving head upwards, below the skull, pressing may louder the sound, hearing is perfect, and tinitus is not all the time, is my tinitus is tmj disfunction
You have done some good iinvestigating Annu. I’m 14 and have tinnitus. Recently, I’ve been under a lot of stress and have woken up over the past week (twice) to my jaw being misaligned. It was sort of popping in and out of place and clicking audibly. However it did correct itself both times after a few minutes of opening and closing. Furthermore, I have had pain when I chew and my tinnitus is my left ear has gotten considerable worse. Side note: I have this odd thing where my tinnitus will become very loud for 30 seconds or so and then subdue (it really freaks me out) and had been happening much more frequently recently. Any tips on what I could do would be awesome.
Yes, I have a great idea. Complete this questionnaire to understand what may help your particular case: www.tinnitussynergy.com/tinnitus-recovery-score-part-1/
Late 30's and have had a loud high pitched ringing in my left ear and a much quieter high pitch in my right for about 6-10 months. No hearing loss that I'm aware of. I have lots of back issues, upper and lower, but mostly muscle, not bone or nerve. I just hurt my neck the last week and the left ear seems to have gotten louder. I am able to intensify the sound by clinching my jaw. The pitch seems to change also. I work around loud noises and they seem to intensify the sound also. I do wear hearing protection as much as I can. Is there anything you can tell me given the limited info I've provided?
Well, with all those back and neck issues, some professional help from a chiropractor, or massage or physical therapist would be a good start. I have a set of self-help protocols that can complement the treatment with your specialist at www.TinnitusSynergy.com
Surprising to see how responsive this doctor is so I’m going to ask one more question; if I move my jaw and my tinnitus gets louder does that have any indication of what caused it for instance if I got an ear infection but I can modulate the pitch does that mean there’s a different reasoning behind the cause?
No. Moving one's jaw or neck or pressing on the muscles of the jaw or neck causes fluctuations in tinnitus for 60-80% of tinnitus sufferers. This is called "somatic modulation" and means you have "somatic" tinnitus, but it takes SPECIFIC TYPES of modulation to know what the cause and the solutions are. This video gives some of those specifics. I have simplified it a bit more here: www.tinnitussynergy.com/tinnitus-recovery-score-part-1/ . You answer a few questions and you get scores that help you know the cause and the solutions.
I had an ear infection and a few days later I got tinnitus...been 10 years...I literally don't mind if I check out now...at least I won't be tortured...I seen over 10 doctors and I want to kill every single one....
Omg thanks in my case at 12 years old i had my jaws poping alot and then all of a suden i had ear pain and the pain went away after a while but i still have tinitus
Hi Benjamin. For some reason, TH-cam will not let me approve your comment on my video. The answer is that it is common that tinnitus worsens a bit(spikes) when the muscles are massaged. You have released many toxins sand irritated the nerves that are contributing to your tinnitus. That's a good sign, in that you now that the areas you are working on are contributing to your tinnitus. Relaxation, warm packs, and doing the TPT as described in my program can help reduce the spikes and reduce your baseline tinnitus, if you are a candidate. tinnitussynergy.com/tpt/
Dr Jay Hobbs of Synergy hey is it normal for a 15 year old male to have tmj ear ringing. I've had for about a year and there are no signs of it going away. Could you please give me suggestions on what to do
I have seen 8 year-old males with tinnitus. In his case, trigger point therapy of the masseter muscles relieved his tinnitus quickly and with no return after a couple weeks of therapy. Each case is different. I suggest that you complete the free Tinnitus Recovery score ( tinnitussynergy.com/tinnitus-recovery-score-part-1/ ) to get a better idea of what solutions may work best for you.
Hello my tinnitus gets worse when I bite or yawn. I also feel that my neck hurts all the time but im scared that there is a different cause (noise trauma etc.). Thanks for reply.
It is possible to have more than one cause. The Tinnitus Recovery score is: tinnitussynergy.com/tinnitus-recovery-score-part-1/ helps you know if you have 1 or more likely causes and the likelihood of their improving with specific care.
Hey doctor, is my tinnitus related to TMJ? I've been diagnosed with it recently and whenever I open my mouth my tinnitus sometimes pauses for a brief moment, or it comes out a bit choppy right after. I'm still unsure, still researching about my TMJ and its symptoms. Thank you for your video by the way!
That you are able to reduce or eliminate the sound, even temporarily is excellent news. This makes it much more likely that conservative treatment will help. The next step is to take the Tinnitus Recovery Score, available on my website, www.tinnitussynergy.com/tinnitus-recovery-score-part-1/ to see if something like at-home our program might be useful for you.
That was great explanation thank you doctor - I have somatic tinnitus with tension on my left side around neck with lost hearing - hope if I’m able to came visit you ,wish city are you from ?
My tinnitus gets lounder when i open wide, forward my jaw and clench down, is this tmj related? ( i also have a underbite). Have had tinnitus for about 4 years, will it help if i address my underbite?
I have a cross bite/underbite,..(wonky jaw). About two weeks ago I noticed my right TMJ was throbbing. I conducted a jaw exercise on myself due to the pain. A few days later I developed tinnitus. Tinnitus really sucks, but I’m planning to get jaw surgery.
Those findings are not predictive from what we know at this time. So, yes, it is TMJ-related, but it would take other positive findings (as outlined in the video and description) to say if treatment might help your tinnitus.
Almost all jaw movements make tinnitus louder. Dentist says i need braces to correct my bad jaw I've had since I was a kid that has grind down all my teeth. Any help on this
Hi doctor your videos are very helpful thanks for serving great work, i had tinnitus ear crackling continuing ringing i can crack my ears. When i open jaw or eat my jaw create crunchy sound, after checkups ent he doesn't find any diagnosis nd say go to check tmj department , i found dentists he checked my jaw he said i have tmj articular disc displaced and it will heal up by itself,,, i don't know what to do .
I have a set of self-help protocols that can complement the treatment (or lack of treatment, in your case) with your specialist at www.TinnitusSynergy.com
Hi doc, been suffering with tinnitus for a few years now due to a head trauma, but recently my left ear kinda got higher than the other one for no reason. i noticed that if i clench my teeth move my jaw , force it or move it forward it seems to increase the pitch in the left ear ( which is the one that got higher ) is this related to TMJ?
"Related to TMJ?" Well, yes, but the evaluation i take you thru in the video helps you know if TMJ therapy is likely to help. I assume you have been to my website. (Right now it is under construction, but you can take the Tinnitus Recovery score test to see what the odds are.) www.tinnitussynergy.com/tinnitus-recovery-score-part-1/
Hi Doctor. I'm 26 and my tinnitus in my left ear started back in April. My hearing tests came back as normal and my bloodwork came back normal too. My ENT noticed my jaw clicks on the left side and mentioned possible TMJ, same side as my tinnitus. My tinnitus sound is like a bouncing sound, kind of like a mic adjusting frequencies? But I've noticed when I go to sleep and lie down with my left ear against a pillow I can sometimes 'calm' down the sound so it's more flat if i find the right angle to lie on. Does this sound like it's TMJ related tinnitus? The sound seems to change often when I move my jaw or neck.
Yes, it does sound like at least it is TMJ-related. But it is also quite possible that your neck is involved too. My jaw pops all the time and my temples swell when i chew on hard food and i have tinnitus. What do you think is cause all of this. Im new to tinnitus got it back in march.
It's difficult to say what caused it in your case. Stress is a common contributor to TMJ problems. It would be a good idea to see your dentist to rule out some cause that needs to be addressed medically. Also, if you have not already, find out what your Tinnitus Recovery score is: tinnitussynergy.com/tinnitus-recovery-score-part-1/ to see if you can help yourself.
(Age: 13 Gender: male) I need ur help, Doctor. I have tinnitus (it's changing ear-side) and sometimes have a suden feeling of fullness accompanied with a intisifation of the tinnitus (holds for 3-4 seconds) since one month and a half now and I'm thinking it's caused by my TMJ problems - jaw poping on both sides and rarely painfull. It wasn't always like this, it started with the left side and then got worse over time (I have this since months now). My Grandma told me, she also had poping in her jaw when she was title, she liked poping it but then it was gone. I'm thinking it will solve over time but right now im also looking for answers. I have been to a throat Nose Ear doctor and she tought it's because of my bruxism and prescribed me Magnesium and Vitamin-B-Complex for it but I haven't told about the poping in my jaw. PLS HELP 😬😅🤣(my tinnitus sound changes and sometimes gets louder) I also have bad habbits such as nail bitting and teeth clenching during the day and I think my overbite isn't helping the situation. When I open my mouth as much possible, the sound changes or gets less noisier and sometimes nothing changes. (Might because of my position)
That sounds very frustrating. I'm glad you saw an ENT. Your symptoms are certainly consistent with cases that improve with TMJ therapy. I put all my latest and best information up on my website: www.tinnitussynergy.com/courses/muscle-care-for-tinnitus/

Hi Dr can you give me some advise please ? 4 years ago I took a heavy blow to my ear/tmj area and I had a sudden onset of tinnitus that I still live with to this day. I always assumed it was ear damage, however I have no hearing loss and some unusual tmj symptoms, that is making me suspicious it could actually be tmj related. When I close my teeth together I have a "crunching" sound only on the side I have my tinnitus and I also have a small lump Infront of my ear canal/on my tmj, that feels like a ligament or something. It can be felt when my mouth is closed and disappears when I open my mouth. When I put my finger in my ear and open and close my mouth I feel like a dislocation feeling towards the area of the lump. It feels right next to my ear canal. None of this happens on my good side. I can make my tinnitus louder when I open my mouth wide. What could this lump be and could it be related my tinnitus ? Nobody seems to know, or seems to care if it's related to my tinnitus. I paid to see a private tmj "expert" that said he has no idea what it is and it does feel like a ligament. Any help Dr will mean a lot to me. Thanks
It seems that it may be some damage related to the injury and is located in or right around the joint. It could be a tear or bulging of the joint capsule. Certainly the physicians who evaluated you would be in the best position to diagnose that. If the doctors don't think it is a problem or related to your tinnitus, I would focus on just getting your TMJ as healthy as possible, naturally.
Hi doctor i had surgery for coarctation of the aorta in 2016, i have a small scoliosis, my ear are poping when i move my jaw right left side, my right TMJ is poping as well, i have a smalll jaw retraction due to mising teeth, i feel my ears full al the tine and i got a very high tinitus i may right ear for about 5 days now. By the way my hearing is very good. When i force my jow to left, mai right tinitus increase, and im vary scared because i canot study any more with this anoing sound in my had as im a first year medical student from Europe. So im wondering if is related to TMJ and what can i do to fix it. Thank you so much and sorry for my bad english.

hello Doctor, thank you for making this video! absolutely helpful to all of us suffering from T. just a question, when i open my mouth, apply force on the side of my neck, below chin and head, the sound doesn't amplify but reduces. is this also TMJ related? (oh and I've had crooked spine for about half of my life too)
Hey Dr Jay, thanks for the video, I have a question. Do you think neck strengthening exercises have the potential to make tinitus worse? I've had mild Tinnitus as far back as I can remember but recently it seems to have gotten quite a lot worse. I tried to figure out what could be the cause of this and it seems like it may be directly correlated to various neck strengthening exercises I've been doing recently to correct my posture. I've only just come to this conclusion that this could be what is happening after watching your video, as this morning before working out my Tinitus was fairly mild and post-workout it was much louder. This theory make a lot of sense and I'd be interested to get your opinion on it. My tinitus also seems to be directly linked to my neck and jaw as I can adjust the tone and sound depending on how I position them quite significantly. Maybe doing this with added weight as I have been doing lately has exacerbated this.
That makes sense to me Jordan. I recommend neck strengthening often, but never weighted when I am dealing with a tinnitus patient. So, yes, I think, given the potential and your particular scenario, these exercises can make tinnitus worse. Neck therapy would likely be helpful.
Dr Jay Hobbs of Synergy thanks Dr Jay. i’m going to cut out the neck strengthening exercises for now and also look into neck therapy / massage. I’m going to keep a diary to track the severity of the tinnitus and will update you in a few weeks time to let you know if there’s been an improvement 👍

Rambo. None of these things really work for people with severe tinnitus or severe somatasensory tinnitus all they do is amplify it and cause more pain and suffering. If you're in this severe range stay away from TH-cam videos on this.
Have you applied the protocols as recommended on our website Rambo? You are right that TH-cam videos are usually limited and can never replace the care and oversight of a trained professional.
@@DrJayHobbs I understand that you have good intentions and believe in your work to help others. It might work for some but I truly believe that these practices are dangerous. For example there are many people who have traumatic brain injuries and tinnitus from that or severe noise-induced tinnitus or possibly from antibiotics and so therefore the hearing systems are so absolutely delicate and fragile that everything that sound is seen as more trauma to the brain and ears. I speak from experience unfortunately. There are many of us who are tinnitus sufferers that everything makes it worse for us. Maybe this works with people with very mild tinnitus or intermittent tinnitus. I don't know. Most ents do not have enough knowledge about tinnitus or somatosensory tinnitus which is beyond hell. As you know any movement of the entire body amplifies triples or more the tinnitus for example eating, drinking, reading, walking, moving your head in any position, etc., everything makes it worse. Most ent's don't don't know what or how to treat. I don't believe they have sodium calcium potassium blockers yet developed for the treatment of tinnitus that might possibly help. To those reading this it is best to stay away from sodium calcium and potassium and any type of oils. I read that ebv or viruses gets in to trauma areas in body and this might also affect. Sound and all drugs are ototoxic and hurts the tinnitus sufferer.
Thank you for your sincere and cordial reply. I do see patients in my office and hear stories of those around the world who have suffered severely and and had tinnitus constantly. I stress the importance of to recognizing that many people's tinnitus gets worse/spikes during, and perhaps for a day after, treatment, whether in-office or with self-help. For some people, that consideration is enough to avoid the therapy entirely. Perhaps for these people a medication will be developed that will provide some temporary relief so that they can engage in this more permanent correction. Soon I will be uploading some video testimonials of patients, primarily veterans, whose tinnitus has improved dramatically. I stress to them that they need to make it clear how chronic and life-altering there tinnitus was so that people will not discount there stories as "Aw, they don't know what REAL tinnitus is like." With regard to TBI and antibiotic- or noise-induced tinnitus, this is the reason for phases 1 (Healthy Brain Lifestyle) and phase 3 (Auditory Training). My training and experience with board certification in chiropractic neurology and my certification in functional medicine help me understand these aspects that you point out well.
Whats the treatment? I also have clicking, sudden pressure and getting randomly stunned like if someone hit me in my ear, back pain and neck pain and leg posture problems. My doctor told me its a very expensive treatment that loosens up my muscles and later in that body position, he takes this position and creates a plaque that then I have to use 24/7 even for eating for one year approximately. Is this treatment acoording? Sorry for my english. Thanks in advance

I just confirmed mine... 39yr old, with bruxism since I was a kid.... All the tests for my jaw shown intensified the tinnitus ringing... I do hear clicks all the time o move my jaw, open and close my mouth... So I definitely can say that the last 3 weeks I've been to ER , audiology and all results are negative and I'm 100% hearing... I'm going to the dentist Friday!

Basically if im able to make the tinnitus louder with 1 or more of the tests then it means there is a big chance TMJ theraphy will help? My TMJ is pretty bad, even causing hearing loss from my left ear, and thats exactly the side it gets louder with 2 of the tests, it means its very likely to be TMJ related right?
After watching most your videos on the topic for tinnitus caused by the jaw I'm pretty sure that's the issue. I've been to a therapist specifically for my neck because that was the cause I thought. But had no success. Also had a hearing test and hearing was perfec. MRI too healthy brain. I'm just wondering who should I go too to get the proper treatment?
Hi Roman, Often the therapist that does good work on your neck can also do well on the jaw. They just need to know the details of how to apply their skills to the jaw. Additionally, you need to know the home therapy to continue the progress while away from their office. My Muscle Care for Tinnitus program is intended for these two purposes. You can give the therapist access to the information and you two apply the relevant parts. You can show it to them and ask if they are interested in doing a little study to help you with this condition in a way that has been shown to be effective. If not, ask for a referral to someone who might. Sometimes a very good massage therapist that likes working with jaw/TMJ is the best option, because of their price and willingness to learn. -- >Muscle Care for Tinnitus (MC-t) - - >Tinnitus Synergy - Tinnitus Synergy purchase info. Great info. Thanks. Question: I've had T for 20 years. (I also have taken one baby aspirin a day for 20 years.) When I clench my teeth tight, the T sound LESSENS. What does this mean?
That is uncommon, but I would take it as very encouraging that you could improve with appropriate treatment. Any change is encouraging, but improvement with testing is usually strongly predictive of improvement potential.
I went to the dentist and saw that I officially have tmj and ringing in my ear. I don’t have any hearing loss nor ear damage and I have always took care of my ears. And plus my ringing changes pitches when I clench my teeth, open my mouth, and move any facial muscles. Plus I have a occlusal guard coming Monday. Do you think this tinnitus is definitely from tmj and can completely go away once the tmj is dealt with?
Also I had an ear infection before the ringing started but I got the ear infection treated very quickly, so I do not see how it could be from the ear infection right? And plus my ent said I have no hearing loss, damage, etc. I’m really freaking out about this being permanent I hope it’s not I’m only 13😬
There are MANY anecdotes about this, but little if any significant research on this subject. I I did read of a one study where laser beat placebo, but I do't know by how much. (Efficacy of Low-Level Laser Therapy in Subjective Tinnitus Patients with Temporomandibular Disorders)

My tinnitus gets louder when I bite down and my dentist suggested an ortho to help. Will braces and alignment of the jaw and bite improve my tinnitus. It started about a year ago and I’m only 15
I can't speak to whether you need orthodontics, but whether you get braces or not, I would assess and address the muscular component ASAP, as I expect it is needed.
Dr Jay Hobbs of Synergy well the ortho suspects it is jaw misalignment and correcting it would help relax the muscles. Would this the be the muscular component of it?
Not exactly. That would address the joint or bone component, with the hope of addressing the muscular. It may very well work, but I always like to address the muscular component individually, especially if there will be permanent changes made. Unless it's an emergency, always do what you can before making permanent changes. Even if you proceed with the permanent changes, you have put yourself in a more ideal position to respond well and to make accurate changes.
Okay the braces treatment has started what would I have to do to treat the muscular part?Or can I not treat the muscular part because I have braces? And I forgot to say my tinnitus isn’t very loud and have only had it for about a year. And sorry if I am bombarding you with questions😂
Dr Jay Hobbs of Synergy The braces treatment is finalized. Are you saying that with the braces it will make the muscular treatment easier? My tinnitus is not very loud and I have only had it for about a year. And what would I need to do to treat the muscular problem? Sorry I’m i am bombarding you with questions 😂
The stuffy nose can relate to inflammation on that side, and eustachian tube blockage, but I don't see how the stuffy nose and TMJ would be related, at least not in a big way.
3 days after putting the braces on january, i get tinnitus. I had cold too. ENT and ortodontist said that braces cant't be cause of tinnitus. When i move jaw, buzzing is stronger. I fell jaw crackling when i open mouth. Is posible that after putting braces something hapened with my jaw? My english is bad. Sorry for that. There in my country (Bosnia and Herzegovina) all doctors i visited said that cause of tinnitus is something with brain or ear etc. My hear is fine. I had test. I had CT temporal bone 2 days ago. I don't have results yet. In my left ear (i hear noise around ear in head) buzzing 24 hours of day, sometimes in right ear i hear buzzing too. What i can do if it's problem with tmj? Braces aren't mobile. I cant't put that off.
Well, in the past, we only knew of hearing loss and brain adaptation as the cause, but know we know that MANY people have tinnitus cause by neck, head, and jaw muscle irritation that feeds tinnitus-causing stimuli into the brain stem For more information and self-help tools, see tinnitussynergy.com/tpt/
And, I should add, dental work, certainly to include putting on braces, often irritates jaw muscles. This is a common cause of irritation contributing to tinnitus. It is not the braces, but it can be the work it took to put them on.
I’m convinced my TMJ and bruxism have at least some role in my tinnitus. I’m terribly confused on how to find the right person to fix the TMJ. There are several different schools of thought about this. I’ve gotten three opinions and they are all different. Neuromuscular dentistry or splints or something else. Do you have any insights on the best style of treatment for TMJ. Thank you
Many people are able to help themselves with my program at www.TinnitusSynergy.com . I am a little uncomfortable with NMD ( www.tmj.org/site/page?pageId=239 ) if that page is reflective of their approach. I tend toward a dentist if a home-molded splint is inadequate or dental work is needed. For the muscular work, if self-help is inadequate, a PT is usually best, when properly trained.
If i bite my teeth my tinnitus worsen and i have impacted wisdom teeth please give some suggestion.......I went to dental clinic doctors says that i have bad bite

My tinnitus increases while opening my jaw or moving it sideways. Clenching also increases it significantly. My Jaw clicks while closing. Will it help?
Greetings, I've just been to a specialist (France) and he told my tinnitus has it's cause in a jaw problem. The joints that allows you to open and close your jaw is very complex apparently. I have jaw exercises to do (opening and closing etc) twice a day for a couple of weeks, and I should avoid food that requires a lot of chewing. It's not a serious condition and can be helped, unlike tinnitus which is linked to hearing loss. I hope this helps.
I'm 21, I always had Jaws pain, clicks, and tinnitus since 2016 on both ears as a symptom of my TMJ, this year I had a small surgery arthroscopy on the right side, but even tho my mouth opening is better and it doesn't get stuck anymore, I feel like my tinnitus got worse, louder than before the surgery, and I've been feeling a lot of discomforts, headaches, and pressure on my jaw, can't even sleep properly or lay my head on the sides. I have physiotherapy which isn't helping much either, what is there left to do that will make this get better? Is there any chance the tinnitus may disappear?
Ideally, what you have done would have helped, but sometimes therapists don't know where to look or the right therapy to do. Sometimes surgery corrects one problem and creates another...or it just doesn't address another. I know there is still hope for you. No, not that we know, other than you only have involvement on one side. Since the auditory pathway from each ear sends some of its signals to the other side of the brain, one-sided tinnitus perception likely indicates the ABSENCE of a type of degree of neurological involvement. At this point, it doesn't tell us anything that hearing and muscle evaluation do not also tell us.
@@xx-kb3mm I got it in both...but only on my right side does is get worse when I open my jaw, clench teeth, or move my neck to the right...my left ear has a different tone of tinnitus
yes, it does. That could indicate you have a higher level of inflammation compressing your trigeminal nerve that has a small nerve fiber branching your ear muscle. Muscle spasms caused by clenching at night can also be asymmetrical (on one side), possibly because of your sleep side preference. It's your nighttime clenching that's causing your problems.

Thanks doctor may ALLAH bless you i have been massaging my jaw muscles it settled and stopped my tinnitus for almost all day had very nice sleep thankfully sir
Manzar Khurshid hello , can u tell more about the process you used to get releif, it would be helpful.
Where are you from bro... i am Also looking for tmj massage for tinnitus cure
How are you doing now?
Please do give us updates friend, I'm 26 as well, just found this video right now. Been having this tinnitus for a year now and beggining to just accept it, but of course if there is a way to stop it, I'm all in for it!!
My tinnitus gets louder when I bite down too
TMJ can be corrected by a chiropractor who understands jaw movement.
Severeal of these tests intensified my tinnitus which I got a month ago. Will see a specialist in TMJ in october, thank you so much for this video!

Same here
hi there! I wanted to know, did it help in the end?
any results? im planning on doing the same thing and would appreciate any advice.
@@Dudeshootsdove hey there, how are you doing today? Is it any better?
You have pretty much the same symptoms I have! Has it gotten better?
@@esmipaniagua i have pretty much the same symptoms did you guys found the problem?
Has it gotten better?
Has your tinnitus gotten any better?
Is it weird that my ringing went down a little doing these?

Thanks for info. Nobody gives free advice these days.
Hi Dr Jay,
Thanks for all the well explained information.
24hours tinnitus sounds in my ears ziiiiiiiiiiii ziiiiiiiiiiii ziiiiiiiiiiii ziiiiiiiiiiii 🙋♂️I will try this treatment, thank you too, God bless you too 👍
Same here( How do you feeling?
Mine is worse after eating or even drinking a smoothie.
Any results after visiting ?
The musculature in my face is uneven, and my bite is actually slightly askew (when i bite my bottom teeth are a little too far left)
Theres a clicking when i open my mouth wide (left side) but no pain.
I have the exact same symptoms
my pulsatile tinnitus started yesterday after twisting and stretching my neck and moving my chin and neck backward and inward, and it gets louder if i jump, run and move my head and neck. i hope it goes away.
The usual aches and pains of TMD would make the probability of the cause and effect more likely, but it is not necessary.
Dear Doctor,
Thank you for your video.

I'm having my braces treatment, and after I got an appliance for my jaw, I'm having this issue and idk what to do 😭😭😭😭

Tinnitus increases when:
- I clench down on my night guard
- I yawn
Tinnitus started after a blow to the head jaw ear.
I got tinnitus 2 weeks after I started taking blood pressure medicine
Sad

This is the one I prefer: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MECB4I3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

did it get better after trying that movement or was the worsening permanent?
Hi Norrum,
Hearing difficulty can certainly be caused by tinnitus, and tinnitus can be caused by TMJ dysfunction.

NTMB do you clench at night?
I had an ear infection and a few days later I got tinnitus...been 10 years...I literally don't mind if I check out now...at least I won't be tortured...I seen over 10 doctors and I want to kill every single one....
when I do your exercise I hear more of the white noise but it does not intensify my tinnitus.
Omg thanks in my case at 12 years old i had my jaws poping alot and then all of a suden i had ear pain and the pain went away after a while but i still have tinitus
My tinnitus got worse after these exercises. Is that going to stay?? I'm so scared right now..

Is it possible to make it better? or at least go back to the state it was before? i had forgotten i had tinnitus untill this recent event.

The stress of studies (mental and postural) can contribute to the muscle toxicity that promotes tinnitus.

hello Doctor, thank you for making this video! absolutely helpful to all of us suffering from T. just a question, when i open my mouth, apply force on the side of my neck, below chin and head, the sound doesn't amplify but reduces. is this also TMJ related?

I stress to them that they need to make it clear how chronic and life-altering there tinnitus was so that people will not discount there stories as "Aw, they don't know what REAL tinnitus is like."
With regard to TBI and antibiotic- or noise-induced tinnitus, this is the reason for phases 1 (Healthy Brain Lifestyle) and phase 3 (Auditory Training). My training and experience with board certification in chiropractic neurology and my certification in functional medicine help me understand these aspects that you point out well.

Hi Roman,
Often the therapist that does good work on your neck can also do well on the jaw.

Great info.
@@DrJayHobbs Thanks for the reply...quick too. I'll look into your resources.
Exactly the same for me. I have it in my left ear. When I really clench my teeth the sound lessens. Turning my head to the left makes it spike.

Hello doctor! I have had ear problems for about four years now, and I can hear clicking and popping when I open my mouth. I can hear tinnitus in both my ears, but the left ear is worse, and I have a feeling of fullness in both my ears as well. The fullness is worse in my left ear than my right. My ears sometimes itch, and they usually itch in the middle of them. Is this TMJ related? I also have more trouble hearing out of my left ear than hearing out of my right ear.
That certainly sounds TMJ-related, but there may be some other ear problems as well. Be sure to see an ENT to be evaluated for that, for starters.

And sorry if I am bombarding you with questions😂

also, ive been suffering from a stuffy nose on the same side I believe I am experiencing issues. Could that be related to tmj , or is that unheard of?
The stuffy nose can relate to inflammation on that side, and eustachian tube blockage, but I don't see how the stuffy nose and TMJ would be related, at least not in a big way.
can vertigo cause tinnitus?i have bad vertigo and buzzing in my ear starts.
No, but they do come as a package occasionally, and often have the same cause.
Well, in the past, we only knew of hearing loss and brain adaptation as the cause, but know we know that MANY people have tinnitus cause by neck, head, and jaw muscle irritation that feeds tinnitus-causing stimuli into the brain stem
For more information and self-help tools, see tinnitussynergy.com/tpt/
Dr Jay Hobbs of Synergy Thank you
And, I should add, dental work, certainly to include putting on braces, often irritates jaw muscles. This is a common cause of irritation contributing to tinnitus. It is not the braces, but it can be the work it took to put them on.
Dr Jay Hobbs of Synergy Thank you. I don't have tinnitus anymore. I have sometimes when i listen loud music, but just little and for a few minutes.

Go to a chiropractor who adjust the jaw. That worked for me. My situation was similar to yours.

I've been having pain in my upper jaw/ear especially on my right side but I have tinnitus in both sides. When I push my jaw back or clench down my teeth it gets very loud. Unbearably loud. What do I do? I'm going to try Ibuprofen tomorrow. I've been avoiding it because I heard that it makes tinnitus worse but I think that if the cause is tmj it could possibly make it better. How can I quiet the tinnitus if it is infact caused/aggrevated by TMJ? Thanks for reading.

Hi dr. J I had last year on my right side I have a little bit of twitching in my right side of my face but like 2 months ago I haven't had any symptoms like that I wonder if something is related with my tinnitus that can cause that or what it is I have vestibular schwannoma I had gamma knife surgery so far was okay with my tinnitus but lately the ringing sound became louder I wonder if it's something related with my neck or throat or jaw
I suspect it is related.

Im having impacted wisdom teeth on right side lower jaw.....my tinnitus is in right ear ....when i open the mouth its difficult and tight.........after tooth extraction my tinnitus will go ah ??????pls reply im confused
Well, I don't know. If your teeth or jaw hurt or are inflamed because of this condition, this may help.
I have also same problem
Does tinnitus is one ear imply anything specific
No, not that we know, other than you only have involvement on one side. Since the auditory pathway from each ear sends some of its signals to the other side of the brain, one-sided tinnitus perception likely indicates the ABSENCE of a type of degree of neurological involvement. At this point, it doesn't tell us anything that hearing and muscle evaluation do not also tell us.
@@DrJayHobbs it tells him that he's damn lucky he only has it in one ear and not both ears.
Hello dr, I've had tinnitus for a month now whenever i clenched my jaw or turn my head tinnitus seems to be louder and theres a clicking sound in my jaw when i open. Is it tmj related?
It is clearly neck and TMj related, but, as I state in the video, only the responses I cover are necessarily predictive of improvement with treatment of those areas...but it certainly can't hurt to get good treatment for those areas either way.
If i yawn i notice i have a different pitch in tinnitus. Also if i stick my finger in my ear and press i hear it. Only in 1 ear does this mean its part of the tmj?
I noticed the same thing -- if I stick my finger in my ear and press the tone in my left ear cuts out momentarily. Would love to know if this means its somatic
@@zerosandones701 It absolutely does, and it's a great sign.
Hello so about 2 months ago I received a blow to the left side of my head which ruptured my ear drum and hurt my jaw and neck. As of now my ear dumb fully healed and I have tinnitus in both ears. When I move my jaw to the right I hear a grating sound like sand paper in my left ear but when i move my jaw to the right I hear nothing. Furthermore, when I move my jaw forward I get the grating sound again but only on the left ear. In addition, when I bend my neck my tinnitus grows and when I clench my teeth my tinnitus increases. I’m wondering if it has to do with my jaw injury because the tinnitus seems heavily impacted by the movement with my jaw and neck. Also, could you give me some advice as to how I should try and treat this problem if possible? Thank you!!
It seems that you would benefit from a thorough evaluation be a chiropractor, massage therapist, of physical therapist. You can also find so good resources on my site: I have a set of self-help protocols that can complement the treatment with your specialist at www.TinnitusSynergy.com
What does tmj mean?
TMJ= TemporoMandibular Joint, your jaw joint.
Dr Jay Hobbs of Synergy doctor i can hear the increase of my T when i beat my teeth but no doctor has told me i have TMJ problems
Okay. What do you think you should do about that?
Hello Dr, I can lower my tinnitus by massaging my temporalis muscle. Is this a strong sign I should seek TMD treatment or is this a sign of an underlying problem.
That is a WONDERFUL sign. Good TMJ treatment should help, good massage would help, and stress reduction might help.
