- A very enjoyable session spent at what is now one of my personal favourite spots on the East Coast Mainline Tallington Level Crossing where we see plenty of services from VTEC, East Midlands Trains, Grand Central and a DB Schenker class 66.
The level crossing offers superb views facing south and plenty of time to get yourself ready for trains rounding the north bend. It's definitely somewhere that I recommend for anyone to film at and definitely somewhere that I will be returning to for a much longer video. The wind wasn't as bad as it was up at Marholm which was a blessid relief for me as it meant I wasn't fighting my tablets stability during my filming.
Also seen during this film are 2 East Midlands Trains HST power cars on hire to VTEC which do sound simply magnificent which you'll hear at some point ;)
My next film is from Frinkley Lane which is several miles north of Grantham, that film is very short as I had very little battery life left in my tablet.
Thank you all very much for watching it is greatly appreciated, as ever if you have any trackside locations or stations that you would like to see filmed then please do let me know and I shall endeavor to do my very best to getting around to doing those for you.
Great film again.I think the 37s and the 43s sound great under load
Thank you for saying so, I would have to agree with you on that one
The reason why those E.M.T HST Power cars sounded so stunning was that they retain the Paxman VP185 Engines rather than those M.T.U 4000R41 16 Cylinder ones
Tallington is another brilliant location, always enjoyed videos from here. Think I may have requested this at some point.
Great video. The East Midlands HST's never fail to put a grin on my face.
I think you may have recommended it for me at some point :) I've always loved screaming HST sets
Thanks for taking my recommendation on board! Another fantastic video, like from me!
Your welcome :)
Love the EMT 158s! :)
They do look and sound nice
This was your least windiest video out of your latest 3 in my opinion. I'm glad you managed to catch the EMT HST on hire as I remember seeing it at Leeds. Great video and nice to see the sunshine.
It was probably my favorite out of all the places I went to that day. And it was a welcome relief for the wind to not be as bad as Marholm. That was just a nightmare to film in
Yay you followed my recommendation!
:)
Looks like a great spot, seeing those HSTs and 91s at full pelt, lovely film mate. Like from me
It's one of my knew favourite spots to film at :)
Platform 2 will be the 7:00 east Midlands trains service to Liverpool lime street calling at Grantham Nottingham chesterfield Sheffield stockport Manchester Piccadilly Manchester oxford road warrington central widnes Liverpool south parkway and liverpool lime street platform 2 will be the 7:00 east Midlands trains service to Liverpool lime street
I kind of Wish there was a Tallington Station
Thought about Wimbledon and/or East Croydon? You do get a variety of rolling stock there, including the trams
I've been thinking about East Croydon
That section of track between Peterborough and Grantham is built for 140mph running although this was only in use I think on test runs.
So there are flashing green signals where East Coast trains can exceed 125mph if the green is flashing.
I remember watching GNER here at Tallington especially the eurostar french class 373s they hired for services to Leeds & York.
They are now scrapped.
Right ok I actually didn't know that section of the line was permitted for 140mph running, maybe one day we will see this happen
Was there some kind of Temporary Speed Limit on the up fast line or something because they were going slower than those on the down Fast Line
from what I could see there appeared to be a temporary speed limit but I couldn't find out why it was implemented
Network Rail must have had some idea if they did they probably would not have revealed it I like your clips though even though I live 12,000 miles across the ditch
I'm glad you enjoyed them :) Network Rail always end up doing something daft on either the WCML or ECML with speed limits. All I know for certain is that just outside Peterborough there was a large Network Rail presence at the joint line and ECML junction
Please could you maybe do Lincoln centranl? In Lincolnshire. There's a lot of freight and passanger services. Keep up the good work.
I've been meaning to film there for ages now. I will be going there at some point
That would be amazing if u do. Lincolns my nearest station.
Goin' like the clappas, boii!
That's one way of putting it :D
Looks like the southbound services were on a speed restriction
That speed restriction has been put in place for about 2 weeks now
Tornado922 are you going to go to helpston as there is six lanes and trains come every 5 minutes
I didn't have any plans to. I might go there one day
What does that one track go too when the train turns into that area
I think it's a just a sidings that was constructed
5:30 why is the 158 on the fast line?
Probably because of the layout of the route in that area
It seemed to me like they were going slower then usual on way faster the other why?
There was a restricted speed limit in force for some reason but I'm not sure as to the reason
7:07 - Why is it soooo slow?
I suspect it was running towards an amber signal so it had to reduce its speed
Yes! But if you look in the video, it was a flashing single amber light meaning that it was going to change tracks.
Did you say stumping or stuning
Stunning
I recommend you go to ingatestone
I've been there already :)
How long does it take to make a video?
depending on where I'm filming it can take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours.
+Tornado922 thanks
Tornado when are you going to Warwick
I don't know
Your Next Station You Should go To Is: London Kings Cross
I won't be filming there
Try and go to Stevenage
I have been already. There is a video on my channel
My geography teacher was at tallington when he saw the mallard break the speed record
He was very lucky in that case
in 1938?
I used to visit there.
There is a huge concrete manufacturing plant there where they make the track sleepers.
This was my first and only time here so far. I should come back and do some more films from this location
Would you like to do a weekend train spotting at Tamworth with me I would like to meet up with you cuz you sound like a very nice person
I would very much like that :)
+Tornado922 thank you 👍
+Tornado922 do Helpston level crossing
