I knew that he addressed it in an interview when the album came out but forgot the name
I was shot in the neck and became paralyzed from my chest down in ‘98 and I was in icu for a month. My sister, who was 13 at the time, brought me a cassette player with the Slim Shady LP in it. My mom wouldn’t let her have it because…you know. I listened to that album every day for at least two months and it really helped me get through the major depression I was feeling. I wish I could thank him for saving my mental health 💚✊🏼

One of my favourite songs of all time full stop .
I grew up listening to rock, and although I'd owned a couple of hip hop records before this, such as Illmatic, and The Slim Shady LP, this was the first hip hop record I would listen to on repeat, about age 18. And this was one of my favourites on the album.
Interesting breakdown too. Lot of the lines, especially concerning ICP, had always gone over my head.

Huge sentimental album to me in my life, I've always related to alot of the themes In this album , this song specifically helped me in alot of fights and shenanigans I caused in my youth
It helped me through some of the worst time in the Army , this whole enemy when I was constantly getting f' by ncos not literally, but every time I got a little something they came after me : so yeah Marshall Mathers is an anthem for anytime you get a little ahead and haters come after you to push you down.
All I see in my head is proof at the up in smoke tour playing air guitar across the stage… end of song absolutely amazing
Re: ICP beef
I happened to be at an event they came to while this beef was hot & they happened to next to me. But when Forgot About Dre started playing they got hyped and sang it word for word. It always made me wonder how real that beef actually was.
Enough to get Em arrested!
The part about “boy and girl groups make me sick” was a reference to LFO’s song Summer Girls back in the late 90s. The beat itself and the line “Chinese food makes me sick”

This album is historic and a masterpiece! I’ll never forget when it dropped and how shocking it was.. I mean the slim shady lp was shocking but mmlp took it to another level
This album made me a Eminem fan at 7 years old and my mom went insane😂 she didnt have it and fought it untill the Eminem show.
This track is in my top 5 best Eminem songs period in my opinion
in 5th grade our teachers were told to watch out for white spinning disc in our walkmens cuzz that meant mmlp lmaooo
love this song ❤ It’s interesting, Ems one of the few artists that’s such a good songwriter & MC that even without always knowing exactly who he was talking about it sounded amazing & the punchlines were still funny. Now I’m an adult & know way more hiphop history I catch things in his old songs that make already great lines 10xs funnier or more impressive. His music timeless & the gift that keeps on giving.

For anyone who doesn't know...the "New Kids On The Block suck a lotta dick..." part was a play on the hook of a pop song called "Summer Girls" by LFO, which was released the summer before Em dropped the MMLP, and was still being played everywhere, which made it hilarious at the time.
Juice was the one who used writtens in that battle.

My opinion though about Vanilla Ice is he was great in his time, not "cultural appropriation" 🤷♂, I think it was just bad management with all the copywriting infringement.
