330,000 little boys in France were raped by 3,000 catholic pedophile priests, and it barely made the news, because people EXPECT that from catholics.
Jesus said child rape was UNFORGIVABLE (Matt 18:6-14), and everyone who supported it will get eternal damnation. That means every catholic.
What is amazing is that people can't see that satan runs the catholic church.

“O Blessed Trinity, we thank You for having graced the Church with John Ronald Reuel Tolkien and for allowing the poetry of Your Creation, the mystery of the Passion of Your Son, and the symphony of the Holy Spirit, to shine through him and his subcreative imagination. Trusting fully in Your infinite mercy and in the maternal intercession of Mary, he has given us a living image of Jesus the Wisdom of God Incarnate, and has shown us that holiness is the necessary measure of ordinary Christian life and is the way of achieving eternal communion with You. Grant us, by his intercession, and according to Your will, the graces we implore… hoping that he will soon be numbered among Your saints. Amen.”

This was great to watch. I've always been into fantasy books and over the past 6 months have come back to the Catholic faith in full force. I've often had the desire to write a book. The notion of writing something that could bring people into the "hall" as it was said, bring people into the ball park. It's gets people a step closer to God. Are there any other Christian fantasy works out there?

Oddly, no reference to the parallel in the lives or work of Ronald Knox and Evelyn Waugh, which made the conversation less textured than I had hoped.

Talking about objective moral reality; I think a lot of secular people are open to the idea. At the very least; open to the idea that they live their lives AS IF objective moral truths existed.
I think people in the church need to be open to the idea that there may be something wrong about how they present that objective moral reality.
I find it self evident that the child abuse scandals in the Catholic Church could not have happened unless there were some pretty serious misunderstandings of moral truths at work in the church. You do not get moral rot of that extremely severe nature (not only the abuse itself but the unwillingness of hierarchy to take it seriously) without something being badly amiss at the meta level.
I think a lot of church leaders still refuse to recognize the problem at the meta level. Hopefully something good will come out of the synodal way, the hierarchy obviously needs help from the laity and from divine manifestations in the world.

This is one of the reasons why it's hard for me to join the Catholic Church, as appealing as it is to me, and as much as I love and respect so much of what it has to offer. It's hard for me to get over that; though, I have some theological disagreements too. Unfortunately, such deplorable behavior is found in the Protestant church as well.

@@cameronshorkey843 I would argue the evidence suggests the Catholic Church has had far more child abuse. The root causes are two, I believe:
      1. Chastity in priesthood. It makes it far more likely that people who feel that their sexuality is disordered become priests, seeking “institutional help” not to live out their sexuality. But repressed sexuality is a very dangerous force and the more the sexual drive is repressed the more warped it can become, finally breaking through.
      2. Not allowing female ordination. I think the three common arguments against female ordination are all theologically unsound but furthermore, “clubs” with only one gender more easily drift into dysfunction, mixing the genders creates more balance and harmony.

Child abuse is not a just a church problem. It is 1st and foremost a societal problem. Abuse in any form is evil. Society is sick. That it has made its way into the church is not surprising. Understand the church includes clergy AND laity. So if you are thinking about becoming catholic, please do. We could use your passion to battle this evil. If you have left the church because of this its your choice. Come help us or cut and run. God Bless.

@@cameronshorkey843 Pedos will always seek out places of authority over children. Either in the church or in the school boards. The catholic church has about 1.5% abuse and the current school system is about 3%. If you want to protect children be there to stop it.

One of the reasons I became and remain a traditional American Anglican is the RC claim that it is the "one true church." It is Father Ward who is being disingenuous when he pretends not to know what really caused the formation of the Anglican church (the simony of one of RC's several "inerrant" Popes), its continuing connection and promulgation of the true faith, and its many Anglo-Catholic adherents.

After reading "Mere Christianity", I think that CS Lewis will someday be seen as a completely muddled individual. His analogies in support of Christianity will be viewed as invalid.
