  • One of my favorite balls right now is the RST X-1. Even though it's discontinued, it still holds a spot in my bag because it's that good. The brand new RST X-3 brings a new shape to the Roto Star Tour weight block with a hybrid coverstock. The MicroTRAX cover is 2 part pearl and 1 part solid. Hence, why I said in the video that the X-3 is smoother than the X-2 downlane but not as early reading like the X-1. Even though the X-1 was also a hybrid being 2 part solid and 1 pearl. Making the X-3, in comparison, a little more versatile. Most important question that you might be asking is when should you use this ball. In my current bag, I would use this ball mainly in transition with heavier units of oil. The X-3 almost dug too early if I didn't get it to the right fast enough on the house shot that I was using this on. But if there's too many units in the fronts, I would have to ball up and use something that picks up sooner. If we want to stick with the RST's then I would switch to the X-1. Once there's enough of a spot burned then I'd switch to the X-3. Then once again to the X-2 when we get later in the day and I can still use the strong asymmetric balls. The RST X-3 is out now at your local Storm VIP Pro Shop!
