As a pro shop operator, ive been telling people for years that the brighter pigment balls seemed to always hook sooner and thats why i always threw darker balls. they all thought i was crazy. im glad it wasnt just me
If you care about the science, it's because Bright Colors require a powder pigment, which you can imagine, creates a dryer, more porous, and abrasive finish. Whereas dark colors use liquid dyes, that don't add texture to the resin.

I second that. Topography is a huge thing I learned about it in college. If it was provided at tournaments, we studied it every time we moved pairs and at out home center as well

I cannot tell you how aggressive the exotic gem is. I’m 15 boards left of where I normally am because of how strong the backend is. Mind you, I generally use a sidewinder or a grudge pearl. This ball is INSANE!

I can’t wait to get my hands on an rst x3. I really liked the defiant soul. If a hybrid version of the gym comes out, I’d be very interested in that as well. Ball prices are getting a little crazy these days.

I have the gem. Its an amazing ball. I used to be a very down and in bowler. But since that ball I've thrown more outside than i used to. Stand a little further left. Its helped my game alot. Love that ball.

It amazes me how many new bowling balls come out on the market. Seems like one every week. I see some people with 10-15 balls in their arsenal if not more. Back in the day I would use my plastic Carmel white dot as my strike ball and spare ball. Then I decided to get crazy and purchase a yellow dot. Of course it had to be the bleeder. Lol
How much less did it hook after most of that sticky stuff oozed out?
I take it back on Exotic Gem. On your contest, I'm been putting in the Roto Grip Gem for ball I want. I'm actually looking to get a strong bowling ball for my next ball; however the Exotic Gem looks impressive.

Yeah, when I was at Vincennes in the early 2000s, Kegel came by and said topography is the highest weighted variable by far.
The colors remind me of a cross between the Defiant Soul and the Haywire. It's really pretty.

Man I want this ball! I barely hook the ball at all but this seems to hook and go through the pins even better than the gym. Im currently bowling with the Proton PhysiX but im going to need a lighter ball

I went to tryout day where I am. Didn't completely find the exotic gem for me. Top ones for me on just a house shot, reality check and zen u just had the back end movement I liked. Phaze 5 was cool but I am not good enough to roll it the way it needs. Fate was great just a bit stronger than I need. Rolled the X3 again just didn't have the backend motion I liked. After talking to rep there and pro shop. I have a low rev rate and I want a ball to do more work for me. I chose the Reality check.

Fresh or heavy carrydown. Asym is going to flare more and earlier than an asym

Really depends what you have in the bag. Phase V would fit nicely with the exotic if you bowl on a pattern that burns up or cliffs fast. I could see a situation where oil is heavy and pushes a lot where I would start with exotic, then go to phase V to mellow out a bit then move back left with urethane.

I recently got an exotic gem it was someone elses that my proshop operator re drilled for me naturally it was dull but that was perfect i love the ball i have the ball weaker than what i usually have and its still my strongest ball i have (sorry i dont know the exact numbers)

Hello, I currently throw a show off 15lb ball. I need some help deciding between this ball, proton physics, or a black widow in 16lb. I throw around 15 mph and start on right side with medium curve. Not sure which ball to buy. Thanks
Why move up to 16? You're already not that high of a ball speed. Seems foolish.

I echo that sentiment. Nuke Cell and Rubicon have been doing quite well for me over the last two years. Every time I add a new ball, in hopes of finding a new #1 out of my bag, I end up going back to the Nuke.

Board coverage is dependent on what’s out there. Cannot put a specific number of boards on it

I love my exotic gem.
I love storm, but I have had 5 ball crack all he way around, call storm they said to send pitchers, I did no one responded back, I bought about 20 ball the older balls are just fine ,that one 1000.00 down the drain,people told me that air git under the ball when I have them on my table drys the ball out and it expands and cracks,they said storm only replacement for a year, its mostly new coverstocts that are cracking,out of dictator sunlight same tempture. I'm afrade to buy any more balls from storm so do I need to keep 8n a bag?are not they dried when I buy them or did I git bad mix,,need some help here, pro shop said storm want do anything to make it right.
Some sort of insulated bag may be a good idea. Especially if the ball is exposed to a broad range of temperature when stored.
