I do “hidden straps”. I think it’s a little cleaner but either way works good. I would recommend doing the straps over the seams. Cleans it up a little 👌

Put the head or rake on a full stick of spout flip it over so the heads on the ground on mark the stick on the roof or the top of the gutter then measure 15” going up towards the head and boom perfect downspout every time
I'm trying to burn that info into my brain for the next time I do down spouts! Once every5 to 7 yrs! Upside down and 15 ! Oh well ,, so much for us DIY ers. 😂 I'm screwed.
In my past experience, I've found that avoiding placing a screw where it sticks out ,even a small amount, on the inside of a drain spout, can create a problem if a small piece of leaf or debris catches. That leads to more catching and before long you have a non functional downspout.

Faster , if you cut a bit rough you can even it out with the snips . You just need a hacksaw blade with decent amount of teeth , spray some wd40 on it and it cuts like a hot knife through butter.
That size downspout should be. 032 gauge aluminum not . 024 gauge and each seam on the downspout needs 4 screws not 2 screws. Do quality work with quality material and it will last 15+ years. You will be lucky to get 5 years with that crap you installed

I do something similar. I put bottom elbow on full stick make a scratch with roof measure down 15"fits perfect
Instead of just putting one screw in at the top, put two on the sides. Cleaner look, and more secure

We always clean gutter. Maintenance is required in my experience.

Put your straps on your seams, where the elbows meet the downspout, looks way cleaner.
What part are u measure from wall to where
You measure the wall to the facia board 3x4 subtract 10 2x3 subtract 6.
What is that you use to make the elbow fit?
You can use needle nose pliers and get a deeper crimp. Plus you only have to crimp the back side of the downspout and return to hide crimp marks.
