personally have never had a problem with no payment upfront. I usually work for big companys or people with some sort of fame so I guess its not worth the risk for them. For smaller clients you might consider doing that, but for big clients it might seem like you are implying that they are not gonna pay.
All just a matter of trust/who you are working with. I've done the majority of my business with no payment up front but can't say I recommend trying it. Half up front is pretty standard!
pricing and how to negotiate without scaring off clients/ending up settling for a price under your comfort threshold is a big topic for me as a freelance beginner. I appreciate any advice that goes beyond "it depends", even if it's just relatable examples, like in this email.
btw. If for me , call to action - is a call (i believe it takes less time for response - than texting does ) . Is it valid? (am i cooked) Do companies do something like that, or they just have a person that just sits there and only checks emails
Another great video :) Could you make a video on the process once you have secured the client, e.g. how to show progress to the client, and how to show the final outcome to the client and ask if they would like a revision (or if you even need to ask) without them stealing the work (watermarks?)
"Some of you need a little bit of help with writing emails." I find myself thinking this every day even at my non-creative corporate job. Writing is a skill that people forget to develop after they're out of school and it shows.
Thank you! If you're in the US, Stripe and Square are both good options. Payment processors are super annoying and can sometimes freeze your money for no reason, but this is just part of the process lol. There's no amazing option, but just aim for something that is recognizable (clients want to feel comfortable entering their card number) and something that can do invoices
Do you think follower counts matters when sending Dms to clients? My professional account has like 25 followers or so.. I really love your videos man. Thanks for shedding light on so many obscure topics.
Tbh I'd buy a couple hundred. Definitely not a game changer to have tons of followers but it would help to have more than 25 I think. Cheapest/best place to buy followers is justanotherpanel.com . In your position I'd probably just buy like 300 and call it good. Should cost almost nothing. Do be aware that buying followers can affect your reach in the algorithm. If you're mostly using your portfolio account as something to outreach to brands with then that's no problem.
W video, I'm very grateful for your expertise! ʕ·ᴥ·ʔ Been wondering for some time now about where you live, just the area looks really nice and got curious ┌(★◡☆)┘ Ty for your knowledge yet again!! ⊙ω⊙
An advice to my fellow 3D artists: NEVER start a project if there is no payment upfront! NEVER!
