I just can't get over how ugly the faces are. He looks more like an insect than en elf Bethesda made the elves look so fkn ugly in the Elder Scrolls games, specially in Morrowind. Fargoth illustrates a lot of Morrowind's grey area. You don't really get punished for doing a lot of evil things "if" you're doing it rather cleverly. Morality systems weren't really in an active effect until Fallout 3, about 5 years later. But ironically, you get SO much more value if you screw over Fargoth AND Hrisskar, getting all the gold, huge reputation gains and a good merchant to acquire lots of wealth fast before your real adventure. And then it gets subsequently contrasted with how you handle the Tax Collector quest if you explore near enough and find that body....you can keep 200 drakes or get 500 if you were a loyal imperial. It's a great way to make a player focus on how their actions will affect their surroundings while trying to maximize value with factions.....and a great way to pay attention to who is doing what for you. You quickly learn how good and bad 100 drakes are for a quest reward, especially with the Fighter's Guild. You learn how fast the Mage's Guild is willing to undercut you for random dangerous tasks. Morrowind may be a clunky mess, but it has so much fun intrigue to it.
I like the implications of the color scheme going on here. where usually red is "evil" blue is "heroic" and everyone caught in the middle is just gray or something. Here though, it gives a vibe that the masses and the villains are forces in opposition, and heroes are a force that disrupts whatever balance that's at. yes my edibles just kicked in.
That’s actually exactly what my thought process was. The masses are usually as an entity “good” to “neutral”. Villains rise above to inflict harm, and heroes rise above to stop them. Yes my edibles kicked in 30 min ago
This is amazing! When I was young playing morrowind, a lot of the time I'd role play doing errands for background npcs (like I'd buy alchemy stuff and bring it to an alchemist). Or I'd sit inside Caius Cosades apartment and keep the skooma addict company while he fought off the withdrawals.
Yo dog you are a real G bro, love the content, but would also like to see you further explaining to people the ephemeral and complicated idea of soul in video games and how they make some games iconic versus others that are functionally the same or similar.
"How free you are to venture in the nude!" omg thank you that's the first time in forever that I've had to pause a video because I was laughing so hard
>give him the ring >better deals from shopkeeper >go upstairs, talk to Nord for quest >go to Lighthouse >wait for Fargoth >take stuff from the stump >get the ring anyway >sell it to the shopkeeper for an even better deal >achieve chim I really wish the shopkeeper recognized the ring and made him tell the guards about it or something.
Something to consider is that although it is a mod; "Fargoth says hello" was written by a former dev and sheds some light on how they saw him ... everyone, not just the guards, picks on him, and he is on the verge of a murderous rampage (well, hiring someone else to murder for him). As for why I don't like him ... the vanilla disposition increase is sinply too much and pushes his greetings into creepy territory. And if I play with a mod that lowers the starting dispositions, then male Bosmer angry greetings are ... just as bad, although at least in that case, the ring jump doesn't push him into creep mode.
I was surprised to see that he has 5k subs cause people who make quality videos like this have around 100k or more subscribers. This dude is underrated asf
Today was the first time I actually sat down and played a decent bit of Morrowind, and I actually met Fargoth for the first time, too. Had no idea he was so popular.
I'd love to see an NPCpedia on the Duke of Vvardenfell, Vedam Dren. A man too honorable to be a villain, yet too cowardly to be a hero. There's a good amount of nuance and irony with his character. He's more than just his dialogue too. He's afraid to act against his brother. He's afraid to act against the Telvanni and their illegal land grabs. He says Vvardenfell needs a leader to stop all the squabbling and fighting... the Duke of the people is telling you the people need a leader. When you get a land contract from him, he meekly asks you to swear an oath to him that you'll be a good person and all that, and it literally requires nothing more than "I swear" and he just accepts it. He's just an honorable coward.
I know he's kinda annoying but I kinda like the guy. Decades ago when I completed Morrowind, I did multiple playthroughs so I sided with both Fargoth and Hrisskar. But now I'd like to play Morrowind again. And this time, it'd be great to not only side with Fargoth, but to take out that Nord bastard once and for all XD
God dude my issue with Morrowind when I tried getting into it is the same sort of issue I had with Oblivion that being you gotta make a Class with Attributes and major Skills and shit and only Certain Skills are good with Certain Attributes and you can't be as flexible as you want because you would be avoiding the XP rate you would need. I would love to find a Morrowind Mod that has a Skill Leveling system close to Skyrim as in Skyrim you just mentally choose what skills you wan't to do and stick with it. You can even play a entire playthrough of Skyrim only leveling 2-3 skills at Most.
I actually think u should do a sheogorath video, no idea how would u call it but im pretty sure u would nailed it, And perhaps magicly influence the algorythm even more, watched almost all of ur video's in one day, really love your content. Take care
Luckily Morrowind is my least restarted game. One character went off and died basically instantly and I reinstalled it recently since I have time and never beat it obviously lol. Trying to make a Spearman/Mystic Orc and even though I found the stump I was worried I ruined the quest by directly asking him about his stash because of the high rapport I had with him. Honestly I was hoping he'd explain the situation and offer another solution like who the asshat owes money to and a quest to find the loan shark ballsy enough to knock him off
We're gonna need a Villainpedia on the Adoring Fan

I love Fargoth. The VR video where he gets hugged is life changing.
The fact that morrowind is available in vr is life changing. Thanks for the info
Fargoth is the perfect example of a chaotic neutral character along with our favorite jacked skooma addict grandpa Caius Cosades
Something I noticed just in this video is that a lot of the regular guards are just Caius Cosades but actually wearing clothes
I just can't get over how ugly the faces are. He looks more like an insect than en elf

Drakes?... No Septims, no wait I got it... gold??? Bethesda seems to change its mind every installment.

Already loving this series. The meme corner was appreciated for a character with such a storied presence in our culture. Excellent work!
The video we needed!
I have a Fargoth meme to add: "You must find the boy. Find the boy...and give him back his ring."
Ah, to be the first entry of a new series talking about characters of little consequence - our boy Fargoth deserves no less.
01:42 I laughed until I coughed for awhile and then laughed some more at the "Fargoth/Neargoth" joke. I dunno why it got me so good, but it got me.

I install the persuasive speech mod every time I play the game just so I can take fargoth along with me on my adventures
Fargoth? More like Fargod
Mandalore made me click this video, when ever he says scum of the earth , or elven menace, he always shows Fargoth.
Umbra could also be interesting. That warrior who has done it all from burning villages to rescuing victims from the flames.
Gotta give fargoth a hug
You know, it would have been a neat callback if there was a way to like, crack down on the corruption of the guard in Seyda Neen later in the game.
