      I have already said they hung all the awards the building received on one side of the building and the rest was bound to follow. It is probably a good rule of thumb nowadays to avoid any project announcing itself as award winning whenever possible especially when we are talking about gongs handed out between architects amongst themselves. I see so many buildings where as long as it gets up and looks magnificent the subsequence ruin of anyone trying to keep it upright and weatherproof is of absolutely no concern to the designer long gone. I expect they dish awards out quickly before the maintenance nightmares factor in.

    • @raydunn2582
      @raydunn2582 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All the inspections and building codes are worthless if the original design is flawed and nobody calls them on it. This was just basic greed. Cheaping out by not putting supports all the way to bedrock may have saved the developer a few million dollars (which went straight into their pockets) but now I hope it costs them a Hell of a lot more. That is if it can be fixed at all.

      FACTS One General Electric 4400 hp locomotive, fully fuelled weighs around 430,000 pounds. IT WOULD TAKE 1,595.4 of these to weigh the same amount. (my statement)
      STUDY THIS: > >>Tom Parsons: > >> The Millennium Tower may be the most recognizable sinking building in the city, but one researcher says earth-based and space-based observations confirm the entire downtown area around it is sinking as well. “I looked at every building in the Bay Area, so just under a million buildings,” said U.S Geological Survey research geophysicist Tom Parsons, who estimates that over the last century, 3.5 trillion pounds of development and human activity - including the subsidence tied to loss of groundwater -- have led to an estimated settlement of three inches across the entire Bay Area. “Clearly, the most density and the tallest buildings are centered in that downtown San Francisco area, and that's where we see the most calculated cumulative settlement from all of those buildings together," he said. Turns out that at an estimated 686 million pounds, the Millennium Tower is the third heaviest building in the city. The top nine all weigh more than 300-million pounds, but the only one that’s leaning significantly is the Millennium. Groundwater loss from adjacent construction has been blamed for the problem by the tower’s developers, while geotechnical experts say the key is that its foundation is not rooted in bedrock. “The Millennium Tower’s an unusual example of tilt, but generally they go down vertically,” said Parsons, who has long studied the stresses that build up on the earth’s crust. He says all the buildings downtown likely weigh enough to exert sufficient downward force to influence an earthquake fault. Fortunately, the San Andreas fault runs offshore before it reaches the city. So, he says, the billions of extra pounds will not likely have seismic implications. Still, the mass of sinking buildings shows up clearly in yellow in enhanced images captured by the European Space Agencys' Sentinel 1 satellite.

      Sort like all those fire movies made in the 70's, like The Towering Inferno, etc. There was a bunch of movies like that. I never actually saw that movie. My favorite was the ship that sunk and the people lived on it for ever. Or the bee swarming movie about the killer bees that were suppose to happen.

    "we were shocked, very surprised, because we don't feel anything". Exactly. If it takes a marble on a floor to demonstrate this but you don't notice it otherwise then it obviously doesn't affect your living in the apartment. Once people start falling out of bed overnight, now you've got a story!

    • @gorillaau

      You will see sewage running the wrong way before you feel like you will fall out of bed. I heard from another video that some residents in that tower are having to use drain cleaner to get the sludge to leave the pipe.

    How does a news station advertise this as evidence? A number of factors could cause a marble to favor a direction in a building

    • @sfopaladin2661
      @sfopaladin2661 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was thinking the same thing Mr Ross. The marble could variate because the flooring may not be 100% evenly installed. Slight variations in glue can move a small marble. A larger one would be better suited.
      The building can shift around in the wind when the marble is set free. No constant in that motion. A more reliable test I would think is to set/glue a wooden 24" stick on a counter. (It doesn't matter if the counter is level or not, you can adjust that later). Then on 2 90deg angles approx 5 inches out from the top glue 2 sticks to support 2 hanging strings with weights on the end. (to simulate plumb).
      (You can somehow fashion some metal rings farther down to limit the movement of the plumbs). Then observe how the plumbs move around. You might need a 3rd or 4th string/plumb. Depending on the wind/movement etc you might need a taller stick.
      Now you can properly evaluate what the condo's lean is. I figure its just a cheap way (and more accurate) movement of the condo than a loose marble wandering about with no guidance.
      If it was me up in the penthouse?? I would constantly wear a parachute and a firearm to shoot out any window should anything happen. But that's just me being paranoid.

  • @KRTube75

    A 2' lean would not be detectable with a marble. The floor would only be out of level by 0.18 degrees. The most likely reason the marble rolls like that is because the concrete wasn't leveled properly when poured.

Secondly high rise condos usually are on a cement slab and they are NEVER level assuming you can judge if the building is level with a marble is kinda childish lol.
