The talk was so interesting. The interviewer and interviewee were both to the point. Listening to Manu is always a pleasure. He speaks as if he is telling a story. You do not need a dictionary to understand what he is trying to convey!

He must be wrong in selectively criticising a section constantly. But we must not ignore his comments completely. History is always a mess. The leaders that were mentioned in the books need not be the real one we learned. Since many centuries, our country was clueless and confused from top to bottom. Still it prevails everywhere. Imagine a big nation about the size of a continent is falling prey to pocket nations like British, Dutch, Portugal, Arabs, Mongols etc. We allowed everything and everyone to abuse us. Greed, ego, selfishness, lack of self-respect, ignorance etc adorned our wardrobes instead of the values passed on to us by our forefathers. It is still continuing in every walks of life. We call ourselves as Hindus without knowing a word to write or read in Sanskrit or knowledge about Vedas or Gita. This was the case with most of the then rulers. They were all attracted to desire. So when someone criticise this, we must not turn our back, instead welcome it with a readiness to acquire more knowledge, skills and values..

How will ASI tell that it was demolished? They will only say whether some predated structure was there under the soil. That is what they have done. The ASI report clearly mention the existence of non-islamic structure with a clear indication of North India temple architecture. So it was highly probable that it was not hand over to Babur through peaceful means.
The demand for that place as a birth place of Sri Ram is not a recent event. There are historical documents which attest that the devotees of Ram never ceased their rightful claim for that place. The court case even started during the British Raj. Moreover, in akbar-nama it was referred as "Masjid-e-Janamsthan".

ASI historian E Muhammad vouched that it was a vaishnavite temple, people have been rebelling for 500 years, there was no politics then? Archeologist KK Mohammed (a malayali) who was a lead person in excavation team of Babri Masjid made very clear that a temple did exist there. It was not a Ram temple. It was a Vishnu temple dedicated to Ram. Though Ram's name is not mentioned directly anywhere. Yesterday, I was wondering how come yester year dalits grown exponentially over the generations in terms of various statuses in the society when compared to the upper classes. As long as these sources (any leftover things ) are correctly kept since the historic time, that may give more truth full Informations than the written texts , the vice versa happens only if historians are truthfull through out the chain of the knowledge transfer.
And his concept of reaching to audians by stories will be effective than written history books.
Base of nationalism should be the nature of the nation, in India it (National identity ) has to be "unity in diversity".

Interesting interview by a motivated leftist, of an intelligent and knowledgeable historian with interesting books to his credit. However, Mr Manu will do well to comment on issues like AFSPA in the North East, repeal of Article 370, 35 A, extent of Mughal empire and such topics, after due research and personal experience. Things are not so simplistic as he's making it out to be. Surprised to hear him quote Arundhati Roy the anarchist. And he said something really laughable about JNU; something that students there are analytical etc. Well, not all of them. A great lot of them are freeloading, ungrateful opportunists who don't care for the honour of the country. Anyway, wisdom dawns only after acquiring knowledge, skills, experience and multiple iterations of this loop. I am sure Manu will see some things differently with the passage of time.
Life makes sense listening to a knowledgeable person. Hats off Mr Manu👏👏👏

What one considers as classy may not be agreeable for a different group. But if a vast majority thinks this way, then it ought to be treated genuinely as classic.

If the decreasing demographic fear mellowed down Hindus their once hardcore & explicit casteist manoeuvring, the increasing birth rate of Muslims very much enthuse their once forgotten hardcore Islamic identity to the forefront.

The world is polluted & short of resources everywhere. Natural resources are already overused & exploited at its core. Mother Earth cannot tolerate more than this or else it will break down after a point of time. These resources have to be used for our thousands of upcoming generations as well. If things can be taken in the right spirit, it will only be good for all of us otherwise these talks are in vain.
Culture, present or past shouldnt overtake commonsense.
