    I said The Dark Knight Returns instead of Killing Joke. I even recorded the proper audio to replace it but then I forgot. That's the real Joker.

    I don’t know if this is really an eater egg but I noticed when joker is on the show at the end he talks about how nobody would notice or care if he dies but if Thomas Wayne dies everyone would care.
    It’s very similar to what the joker says to two face in the dark knight while in the hospital about people not panicking if they knew a gang bagger was going to get shot vs if the mayor was.

    The moment his mother locked herself in the bathroom and he bangs on the door is reminiscence of the famous scene in The Shining, the girlfriend not being real is not dissimilar to that reveal in Fight Club, and Arthur imagining himself on the talk show reminds me of the old lady in Requiem Of A Dream, perhaps the fridge moment is a nod to that aswell.

      Jacob Totally, but this isn’t just a Ledger thing. Almost every version of the character has taken over the airwaves in some way shape or form, even going back to the first appearance where, this being 1940, he highjacked a radio station. It’s a classic Joker trope at this point.

    Hey great vid !
    Couple more easter eggs for you:
    When Arthur goes to the Wayne Manor, young Bruce slides down a metal ramp, a nod to the Adam West's Batman ;
    Joker's notebook could be a hommage to Heath's famous diary that he kept in his hotel room while working on the character ;
    His costume at the hospital could also be a hommage to Heath, as well as his kissing the old woman on television - just like Heath famously kissed a staff woman ;
    The bellboy costume references Joker's passion for disguise ;
    Some have pointed out that the glass reflection in the first scene ressembles Batman's cowl ;
    Not really an easter egg but Thomas Wayne is played by the chief of police in TDKR ;
    And also a self-reference with Cream's "White Room" playing just before we see Arthur in the Arkham Asylum, indeed in a very white room - which had been previously seen to be yellowish

      My guess is that the writers wanted it to be a bit ambiguous, and Arthur finding his adoption forms and evidence of his mom's insanity kind of left the audience to believe what Thomas Wayne said, so they threw in the photo signed by TW to give evidence for both theories, making them both equally possible.

    • @han__cholo
      @han__cholo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Yeah in my opinion I felt like it could've just been another piece of the puzzle that the audience can use to make their own decision. You can’t ignore the picture of Arthur’s mom with that intimate line signed by “T.W.” And the fact that Thomas Wayne and his family would have the resources to fake all the document in her file to prevent a scandal. And the detail that mental health is usually hereditary so she probably did give birth to Arthur. Good film making!!!

    • @han__cholo
      @han__cholo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Although I totally agree with you that the Wayne's could/would cover up his birth, I also just believe that the scene, photo and initial were put there to leave more ambiguity for the audience. Sure the picture could be real and the message but it just said something like you have a nice smile. That doesn't automatically mean they had sex. It could just be another clue that show's Arthur's crazy mother and her obsession with Thomas Wayne. Or, and this is what I think, SHE could have written that on the back of the photo, because yeah she's delusional and psychotic.

    • @han__cholo
      @han__cholo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh and one more thing about the mental illness and hereditary thing. Yeah you're right about genetics but you also have to remember he was physically and emotionally abused by his mother and mother's boyfriend. It literally said he was chained to a radiator. And all of that info was a shock to him in that scene so he clearly repressed all of it. Extreme mental, emotional, and physical abuse experienced by a child can definitely lead to severe mental illnesses.

    the opening scene when the camera pans into Arthur putting on his makeup, you can see Batman's cowl shape in the negative space around him.
    Also, a call out to Heaths joker, when Arthur is writing in his journal for the first time, you see a quote in big writing at the bottom of the page, with a smiley face in the O of the word DON'T. That same quote with smiley face was in Heath Ledgers "joker Journal" he was using in his method acting for his own movie. A tribute i guess since both these actors were close friends in real life.

    The movie makes several refferences to Chaplin. The song "Smile" was written by him. The theather is making a large homage to him and of course theyre airing his movie. Not only that but the font and style of the credits at the beginning and end reflects that of a classic 1920s-30s movie. Chaplin's character was always a downtrodden man, a hobo left behind by society who was always EXTREMELY optimistic (like his character in "city lights") all these refferences to him could serve as an indication that the movie is an inversion of Chaplin's usual character.
