I am quite shocked with Chino's vocals. More than 20 years in the biz, and he's still one of the best vocalists around. Obviously he can't sing like when he was on his 20's, but he's still kicking ass.
Nothing hits harder or brings the energy more than their older stuff!!

Come on Chino, the word is "Explode" you scream at 28:34. The result is an awkward transition into the chorus with added dropped lyrics. He seriously is turning into the Vince Neil of our generation.

Things that would help improve Chino's vocals live:
1) Stop pulling the microphone away from your face when you're singing.
2) Stop getting sloshed at your shows.
3) Stop hopping around the stage so much as you sing.
4) Your best shows were in 2010 and 2011 when you were in good shape. You don't have to be 1997 Chino to sing well, but good health would probably help a little bit.
Chino has a good voice and has shown in live performances that it isn't just studio magic propping him up. The solutions to these ugly performances are so incredibly simple I'm surprised no one in the band has just sat him down and told him the deal.

He's big problem like you said was he gets shit faced. That's unhealthy and hard on your vocals. 2) he pulls the mic away cause his voice isn't strong enough and would end up sounding like shit. But your completely right.

You can tell Chino is not contempt, not even drunk, nor sweaty... something's up LOL i would've done like Chris Cornell and tell the crowd how lame they look just standing there with their cell phones, like really how great of a quality the sound they are getting so close to screams and bass hitting into the phone lol dance move sing and make a memory!!! Chino reacts to how we act as a crowd. \m/

The mixes are usually too light on bass and guitar heavy, but this mix is the opposite. Weird. I like it, but wish the guitar was a little louder.

***** They're going for a more mainstream appeal at a concert like this. Having said that, I dont understand why they close with Headup rather than say, Around the Fur, which I think would be the best choice out of your suggestion. A regular Deftones concert, then yeah, I'd agree with your endlist there.

Viewing Account i've been to a lot of Deftones concerts, don't understand why they never play Contact,Prince,Gauze,Kimdracula,Cmnd/cntrl,RIsk... etc.Chino said his least favorite Deftones song is 7 Words.said he wrote it when he was 15,and is pretty sick of it.
brian james Chino improvs a lot. Songs like Gauze and Prince need exact timing and maybe them staying away from certain songs is good. I could never see Chino doing Gauze exactly like the album and that would irritate me since that's one of my favorite songs of theirs. Sometimes I feel he's becoming the Vince Neil of our generation when it comes to live vocals. Maybe that's way harsh. Seach scuzz meets deftones, Chino says he never listens to Adrenaline.

Awful mixing, and chinos voice sounds off. Recording their new record must've been hard on his vocals by the sounds of it.
olmatenightfox his live vocals have always been pitchyyyyyyyyy as all hell, I'm talkin like throwin' curveballs and sh*t lol. He's not the most skilled singer so live it's more about the energy, and recorded let's all face it. Either he does a million takes and punch-ins or he gets tuned up but his thing is more stylistic than about execution. I love it no matter what haha. CHEERS!
I was pretty close to the stage for this set. I don't remember the crowd being this lame.
His vocals seem off. The shitty yahoo recording probably doesn't help. He sounded much better after he got in better shape. Probably just had some brutal recording sessions beforehand or he has been taking some time off.
They had been recording the new album. Probably did a number on the vocals.
I am and will always be a huge Deftones fan, but their timing has never improved.
