      It was fun to watch. And I'm a bit jealous: it felt like you switched your altimeter to standard pressure just a few seconds after takeoff. I, OTH have to wait for ages until the C172 I do my training on could switch to the flight levels 🛩️😅 Oh, and btw: what is the transition altitude in France?

      Like you, years ago, I was able to go into the cockpit of a Lufthansa. I told the captain that I had a Private Pilots Licence (flying Cessna 150 and 172). He looked at me, paused a few seconds whilst rocking the palm of his outstretched and inverted hand. He frowned and said "50:50". I think I will leave flying to the experts.

      A dear friend of mine who knows my deep passion for anything aviation (I’m 50, he’s 75) got to go into the cockpit and take a pic of the cockpit and pilots (doing thumbs up to me) the last two times he traveled a couple years ago, because he told them about me and asked them. I was so happy about those pics, a stupid big smile from joy all over my face, immensely grateful to the pilots letting my friend take the pics to send to me, maybe they understand how much it meant to me since, well, I guess they have the same love for flying and planes… I wouldn’t post those pics anywhere, won’t show them to anyone, wouldn’t want even the slightest chance of those pilots getting into some kind of trouble simply for making and old lady happy lol. And I actually got to go inside a cockpit myself when a was a teenager (like y’all say, back when you could do that). Happy days. I understand why it’s not allowed any longer. Just wanted to tell my little story - how sometimes seemingly small things means the world.

    I really like these videos, especially because you add in the flight information as it's happening on screen. ATC clearances, checklists, etc. are great for the pilots out here. One thing, I noticed that, on the ground, your nose seems to track right over the centerline. I did some training in an A320 sim once, and the nose gear must be further behind the pilot because I had to swing out wide over the line when taxiing around turns to keep the nosewheel on the centerline.

    Another brilliant video..great vision and viewpoint from your camera. The onscreen graphics are excellent. Q Who decides how much ‘hand flying’ time can take place before engaging the auto pilot? Thanks for your videos 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    • @DutchPilotGirl
      @DutchPilotGirl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks Jaimee! The pilots themselves decide how long they hand fly. In some situations we do prefer to engage the autopilot though. In busy airspace for example, bad weather conditions or when dealing with a technical issue etc.

    Love these videos, just beautifully done. Michelle, I'm curious about the long sweeping right turn shortly after takeoff, that seemed to be about a 270 degree turn. Is this to allow the aircraft to gain enough altitude to clear the mountains in the distance? Or maybe just an atc procedure for Nice? Thank you and keep up the good work!

    • @DutchPilotGirl
      @DutchPilotGirl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Hi! It's a normal procedure in Nice, it's indeed surrounded by high terrain north of the airport and it's quite a busy airport as well, lots of traffic

      Brilliant video Michelle. I can see you use English as a common language for the aviation industry. But I’m surprised that you use feet and MPH imperial measurements as it appears most of the world uses metric measurements as a standard.

    Another beautiful video, thank you! Does the Auto Pilot on the 737 also control the rudder trim (I know it does pitch or horizontal stabilizer trim) or do you have to manually adjust during course, wind, and power setting changes for coordinated flight?

    • @DutchPilotGirl

      You're welcome, no the autopilot doesn't control the rudder trim, we have to manually set it if required :)

    I do appreciate the video with these little tips, it's really pleasant, and I learn quit a bit. So, little questions for you, hope you don't mind. 1- Why can't we use the APilot a few minutes after take-off? 2- When you're taking off how much is the vertical speed approximately ( without the AP )?
    Thanks for you time.

    • @DutchPilotGirl
      @DutchPilotGirl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can use the autopilot above 400 ft AGL but it's not mandatory to do so. The vertical speed depends on so many things, it always varies 😉
