      What about that was non-standard? I haven't seen any up close, but nothing jumped out at me as different than what I've seen from the boarding lounge.

    That was awesome. I’m a captain and on the receiving end of this for the last 12 years, 36 years of flying. I’ve always had a lot of respect for the skills to do this. Like backing a double jointed wagon, but also while coordinating the whole process. This young lady did a fantastic job and did it with a smile. American is lucky to have her on the ramp!

      Well that is sure kind of you! I am grateful for great and kind pilots like you! It is amazing to see how everything (gates, pilots, ground, tower, etc…) all work together to keep this intricate system moving and most of the time…on time…getting passengers to their destinations. Connecting people all over the world!

      @@ladyandtheramp you may not realize this, but the pilots are at a way more advantageous position to see outside because we are up higher, and being low to the ground for you looks very disorienting to me. But we can’t see anything at all behind us. That plane even though it’s just medium sized looks enormous from your perspective. Also, watching this again I was not aware that you don’t have continuous sight of the wingtips 😬. But you rocked it and stuck it right on the line with the mains centered. Again, nice work!

      Reminds me of the pushes we did in Minneapolis. Back them up in a narrow alley, then do a 180. When I worked it DEN, though, we had straight pushes. A couple of gates had a slight turn, but it was pretty easy.

    Good push. I remember training one of our pushback drivers. She stood just barely 5' and was terrified to push an aircraft. I told her that she had to be at least trained and had to push one aircraft. We worked with her and she got signed off. By the time she was promoted she was the smoothest operator that we had and the crews would request her specifically when they had a complicated push.

    I worked ramp service in San Diego for Alaska Airlines (ATS) Airport Terminal Service back in 2000-2001. It was the best and had a blast doing that job. I grew up in Mesa and was the first-ever college intern at America West Airlines in 1990. After graduation, I spent six months working on the ramp at T-3. T-4 was under construction and the last thing I did was take an orientation tour about a week before it opened.
    I returned to PHX in 2000 and spent five years as ATC in the now-demolished control tower. I’ve had the birds-eye view of those long end-around pushes but haven’t seen it from the ground.

    That was a great pushback! In all my years as a commercial pilot, I had never been able to see it from the tug driver's point-of-view. Wing-walkers are obviously indispensable! I figure that the push to spot Kilo-three was given either by ramp or ground control. My guess is that it probably happens routinely. At IAH, there are several gates that are tricky to park at, or be pushed back out of. My hat's off to a very underrated and under-appreciated part of the crew!🙂

    • @ladyandtheramp
      @ladyandtheramp  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The push clearance actually was given to the pilot by the tower. There was traffic in the alleyway that we normally push to on the East side. So they had us do a “non-standard” push to the East side to Kilo 3. Thank you so much for your comments and appreciation! We appreciate you all as well! 😁

      As a pilot, do you think that is a safe type of pushback compared to a straight back unhook,depart or one turn unhook,depart?

    • @boeingpilot7002
      @boeingpilot7002 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@davidsmiths5471 That pushback, just as it was accomplished, IMHO was a safe & efficient operation -- all participants ensured that the area that the aircraft was being pushed into was clear of obstructions .
      Naturally, with a greater pushback distance, especially around the busy terminal area, does carry more risk, than just a simple push-and-go.
      The key factor, again IMHO, is the wing-walkers, who are the tug driver's safety net against clipping a wing tip, or running into a catering truck. Without them, it could not be done, safely.

    • @boeingpilot7002
      @boeingpilot7002 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ladyandtheramp I wasn't sure if PHX had adopted a dedicated Ramp Control, like we have at IAH.
      When we parked at the old Terminal 2, we just gave Ground Control a "pushback advisory" call, since we were technically in a "non-movement" area, that they didn't control.
      As soon as we moved into the northside terminal, we were advised to call Ground, for clearance before pushback. I don't know if that's changed, since I retired four years ago.
      Keep up the good work!

    I don’t know why I’m so obsessed with watching your videos. I’m just mesmerized at how you move these huge planes around. Did you work on a large farm or go to a school for this… you young lady have my full undivided attention !! Bravo to your skill level, you make it look easy !🤜🏼🤛🏼

    I am now a subscriber. I guess it makes sense to do that, as I am sub'd to a couple of pilots' channels. It is good to see how things get done before it goes up in the air.
    I like that you didn't mute the outside noise and more importantly, you don't have any 'background' music playing. Never add music to a video unless it's a dance or music video. Part of the enjoyment of these type of videos is seeing and hearing what the host is seeing and hearing.
    What made this a non-standard pushback? Not that I know the procedures for a standard one, so it's all new to me.
    Thanks.

    That looks a lot more fun than my crap job. Their not likely to give me a liner certificate to fly hundreds but I would still like to work around aircraft. ATC is too high stress, responsability, and risk to life and limb of others but pushback... never thought about that, but it would probably be what I enjoy most besides flying the actual things. Still get to move them! And often people with that job move them around empty too and have to start-up the cockpit, I'd love that.
