problem i have is when i stop the line with my finger or clip the lead bounces back and goes slack 🤷‍♂️

I suggest not stopping the line, but slowing it before the lead hits the water. Watch the lead from going over your head to the water slowing a few feet above the water and then trap the line and feel to the bottom.

Bring the rod to your side just as you are about to hit it, then when it hits the clip bring the rod forward with it to stop the lead bouncing

you said every second is 3 feet deep , did not mention what size lead that refers too ???
i thought leads were around foot per second ??

Use a finger stall if you’re using braid !! Massive mistake if you don’t and you’ll still feel the drop

but aint you going to lose lot of the feel when wearing a finger stool as should with braid!
