    I decided to look into fishing videos since I'm teaching middle schoolers how to fish. Since I have to make fishing a game, I knew I needed to watch some videos on how others fish. This video has helped me find cues (signals) for them. Here for cues instead of advice, haha. However, keep making videos. I really enjoy them. Thanks mate!

Could you do a video on once you have casted out, explaining sinking the line, winding in a little, setting the rod on the alarm, perfect bobbing set. One thing I always struggle with, is how much to reel once casted to sink the line. Thanks. Amazing content as always

      I just asked this very question, (should have scrolled down 🙈) I couldn't have said it better myself. I have heard so much over the yrs as to what should be done with your line once you've cast out, would be nice to finally put this one to bed and get something definitive on the subject. Since starting carp fishing aswell as beach fishing last summer, have found that casting accuracy isnt such a problem for me. What ive had to get used to is scaling down the distances lol. Have been in the habit for the last 20yrs of going (half of the time) for maximum distance with 6oz leads and bait, using a pendulum cast 😀

    can i ask you a question about clipping up please ? I'm a beginner so I'm trying to get the straight , if i cast out with a lead weight and marker float and find a spot i like i clip the line on to the spool , reel in, then with marker sticks wrap around the sticks , remember how many wraps then transfer that number to the rod I'm going to fish with then clip that line to the spool , ok, so i cast out hit the clip let the lead go down and I'm fishing , so then do i take the line off the clip because if a fish bites the line won't come off the reel, right? if a fish bites and i land it do i have to go through the process of wrapping around the marker sticks overtime the rod comes out of the water? i hope this makes sense and i know its long winded, many thanks for your help.

    Hi Alex and Carl, fantastic video just what I've been looking for thank you so much.. One quick question (not sure the answer will be quick 😋) can you provide some insight on what should be done with you line once you have made a cast? Do you dip the rod to sink the line? Open bail arm walk back to rod rest and sink line for 5 minutes etc... Heard so much over the years but nothing that definitive. Would really appreciate your view. Keep up the great work, tight lines lads

      Great question even though it's 2 years ago. I dip the yip and tweak the line. I don't see the point in leaving it if you are using a bobbin as your going to put tension on the line so it will find its way anyway.

  • @Shurmash

    Make sure that your cast is a smooth motion. You don't have to cast super hard with a casting reel. Unlike a spinning reel there is no lip to overcome. Make it one smooth motion accelerating as you go forward (whip cast). Set your spool tension so that there is a hair of side to side movement in spool. The spool tension should not be on. Turn your brakes to about 75% and then work your way down as you get better. Lightly feather the spool with your thumb. Cast with your index finger on the trigger so that your thumb is in the proper position to feather the spool. You should be feathering it from directly behind the reel and not pressing down on the spool. Cast with about 3'-4' of line so you can load up your lure and get more distance. Tight lines out there!

    • @fishingtutorials

      It could be 'over-spooled' as in too much line on your reel. You could also put your finger on the spool just before your bait hits the water to stop anymore line from coming off. Hope this helps!! Thanks David, all the best with your fishing :)

    Hi Carl & Alex, I have a question....When you’ve cast to your clip what do you do if you have a fish strip line on a run, or if you’re casting from the water and then have to walk back to your rests, as in Res. Diaries 3? Are you using your distance sticks to reset your wraps before every cast? Thanks for all your excellent tips and interesting content 👍🏻

    • @fishingtutorials
      @fishingtutorials  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Neil, when fishing for big carp we'll unclip after the cast so that a hooked fish can take line and not reach the clip. If we are feeder fishing for smaller fish, we'll leave the clip in and only unclip if a bigger fish starts pulling line.
      When carp fishing, we use distance sticks and count the line wrapping around them to get back to the same distance for the next cast. Hope that makes sense!
      tight lines, Carl and Alex
