    Dan, does how far Baltimore has fallen depress you? ... I cannot believe how we've left these history-rich cities to rot. I realize the decay/decline may not be everywhere but it's enough that I keep asking myself, why? Why does this once-great country of ours spend endless amounts of money on war/death/destruction instead of trying to repair our *ACTUAL* country? makes me furious!

    People dumping garbage like that should be ashamed. I'd really like to return that garbage to the one who dumped it, right on the doorstep with a note saying Hello, you forgot this.

    That solid wood chest at 10:00 is in the Queen Anne style. If sanded down and re-stained it would be good furniture. Too bad it is left to the elements. Interesting vids as always!

    That old dumping area near the cemetery reminded me of something. A few weeks ago, while in the city of Bayonne, NJ, I pulled up at an abandoned A&P supermarket, just on the city's western shore. The store was right against the Newark Bay, with shipping docks just a stone's throw away. The area was infested with garbage and stray cats. It's a shame, since I found a little beach area with an amazing view of the sunset... I dubbed it "Plastic Beach"-anyone who gets that reference, you've got excellent taste in music.

    What amazes me about these videos is that all these places are just left and forgotten. I mean, haven't these buildings got owners? Value? Even if the buildings are not fit for purpose, surely the land can be sold on? It just baffles me..

    • @ghoulbusters6805
      @ghoulbusters6805 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      DirtRich my personal experience with urbex is that even if a building has an owner, sometimes the owner just doesn't care or doesn't have the money to maintain it. Maybe a parent died and the kid didn't give a shit about the house, or a business fell through and nobody wanted the building. It's cheaper to just let gravity bring the building down than to wreck it.

    @3:17 I think most of those are still in service... is the area around 2000-2200 Charles St. like a low-key Koreatown? All the numbers look up to that area.
    If Koreans can't keep a liquor store in business you know your neighborhood is going downhill.

      Sasha Riley I've never been there, but I hope that there are some nice areas to live in. Some of the old buildings in the videos look beautiful. I always read comments like "Baltimore is a shit hole" and things like that. So I wondered if it is really as bad...

    • @eonkshabonk
      @eonkshabonk 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      makkeundichmusic There are "shit hole" areas, but there are also really historically rich places, and places that are just plain beautiful because of cultural diversity. There are many really nice areas. Its odd because there are places where it looks like this, but two streets up there is a neighborhood of 27 bedroom mansions and no crime. Its all in what you make of it. There are places in every state that the people just know are "bad" but its really not awful all around. I mean for some reason most people feel the need to only show the bad. This channel obvioulsy is showcasing abandoned places so they are not one of the people trying to make it look bad. There are people that almost seem proud to live in a dangerous place. I guess they get some "street cred" lol I dont know, but I assure you, there is absolutely stunning structures, landscapes and warm welcoming people everywhere. The bad places are just sprinkled in. :) I would imagine if you get curious enough a good googke search could show you a better side!!

    People forget that the population that utilizes many things no longer uses them and so they decline. In the case of liquor stores blame the large number of grocery stores who now sell liquor. Bars are suffering because their target population under thirty group with disposable income in the US has declined in numbers. People tend to go to clubs rather than a neighborhood bar anymore. It's sad in a way. Factories are same way. Many moved overseas but it takes less with better technology to manufacture an item so no need for all those old factories so left abandoned.

      What about liability though? Someone or someone's kid goes in there and gets hurt or killed and there's going to be a lawsuit and up here in Canada it would likely be the city because by-laws establish the state of repair that a property must maintain both physically and visually and if you fall below that then the city gets involved with tickets and such at first and if the problem persists then city staff will clean up a property and the owner gets billed. So the city is where the buck stops on derelict properties so I don't know how stuff like that exists.

    You can get mask that look like hospital stuff from paint shops or Home Depot that will keep out smell very well. Maybe they found a better place. Do see too many firehouses so that was cool.

    A pack of Newports down hea in Jawga will cost about $6.20 and for a carton will be $60.00 at the local IGA. But at convenience stores they run about $5.30
    7.25 for a pack of squares??? get the fuck outta hea.
