I'm with everyone else when I say, they should have replaced those cars with electric ones. Its nice that the cars they are currently using have a new paint job, and rear-view block for people who like to turn around when they drive, but the untouched cars are just parked at the station. This attraction needs new vehicles, especially if Disney is going to keep on advertising their "environmentality".
tpcrb That's good and all, but electric cars are the future, they should have replaced the engines with electric ones. As a matter of fact, making the cars electric is a simple job, the only thing is that its expensive and time consuming.
tpcrb are you sure that they have been given Honda engines? I've been watching a few videos so far, all the engines still rattle the same as they always have, another video showed the driver was frustrated because the engine kept bogging out or "dying" -which was a common problem with the old autopia engines. No, I think they just gave a few of the cars a new pain job.
+Alexander Younies Yes they are now re-powered with clean air very low emission CARB 6 FI Honda utility motors. Smoother running, very good fuel economy, a bit more power, noticeably quieter, far more reliable. When you stand in the cue line, their is more information from Honda posted.
tpcrb I can't even find that motor on google. I'll take your word for it, you seem to know more about the refurbished vehicles than I do. I'm going to ride the attraction on monday, and maybe I'll see for myself the extent of their work. More power to them if they are clean air engines, thats a step in the right direction.
Can you still bump people?! That was the whole point back in the day. Gave you whiplash and a neck ache for the rest of the day, but it was fun, darn it. :P I never called it Autopia when I was a kid. I affectionately called it the bumper cars. XD When mom and I rode together, we'd go as fast as we could in order to ram the person ahead of us. Good times. ^^
Me Personally, I love, love, LOVE when Disney goes for a "Retro-Futuristic" theme in the parks. It's partially the reason why I prefer Test Track 2.0 to the Original. I also dig the homage to the classic "Magic Highways" short that they play in the queue of the new Autopia.
You'd think there would be a greater sponsorship imagery from Honda. Like some clever, funny Honda (product placement) videos for the queue area inside the round building, promoting ALL of the Honda products, from outboard motors to lawnmowers. A Honda billboard or two would have been nice, too. After all, in the 1950s, Richfield had a cool billboard with a rocket and space station.
Hector Hernandez I agree I went on this yesterday no change on the speed the cars are still nice but I would expect a lot faster cars o well guess they don’t want to spend the extra millions the park makes in a day on bigger engines
Let me just tell you, when I went on this two Saturday's ago, I was disappointed of how slow the cars are now. And my second favorite part of autopia was while you were waiting in line, you could watch the funny chevron car video things.
This brings back memeories from ages ago, I remember I always use to hit the middle section because I couldn't steer properly and I struggled to reach the pedals :)
Haha they got rid of the talking chevron cars in the queue! "Sailing along. Sunshine and then... VROOM! Someone lets go of the steering wheel" or the other quote "Come on light turn green, I've got places to go people to see" or "So dad tell me what else do you know about the birds and the bees."
I'm glad old Tomorrowland is slowly coming back in various forms. The Magic Highway USA clips and former PeopleMover music soundtrack go great with the Autooia theming. And I might adadd that 2017 will be the 50th anniversary of the 1967 New Tomorrowland Opening. :)
was just thinking the exact same thing. For closing down and refurbishment, I was really looking for a more noticeable difference. sad. thanks for saving me time getting on this ride.
Last time I went on this ride it was absolutely hilarious. It was my first time being tall enough to drive. So I was in the seat, and we start driving. Halfway through the steering wheel stopped working, and he car kept jerking from one side all the way to the other. My mom was driving behind and was thinking “If this is how she’s driving IRL we’re never letting her drive.”
+Fizzy With what they charge for a single days admission they can afford to add freeway interchanges and multi lane tracks on the ride! Jeez, the rides looks no different except for a few coats of paint.
Sounds like the safety spiels were re-recorded to eliminate all mention of Dusty, who was a Chevron-created character. Also glad to hear the PeopleMover music is still in the queue. But I'm still hearing grinding gears. What, was engine work not in the budget? Goddammit, Shanghai, siphoning all of Anaheim's budget!
Its kind of sad to see the early 2000's Chevron version of Autopia go. I did miss the old monitor with the cheap late 90's animation and the glass holographic projections in the que line. But it was also very dirty and faded in colors and design, it certainly needed an update.
@4:27 AHHH the future! riding in a fiberglass tub on top of a go-cart frame powered by a noisy lawnmower engine, marvel at the sheer speed as the engine hits its 5 mph limiter and bucks against it annoyingly sounding like a worn out washing machine, take in the scenery as Full Self Driving is here ahead of Tesla! Just let go and the car will bang left-right-left violently as it hits the inescapable nanny barrier in the middle of the road! In the future all transportation will be this wonderful (completely ignoring the modern EV's that WILL actually be the future)
Loving the new color scheme, still hate the old cars. and i wish they had Asimo or something different in the part of the queue where they have the screenroom.
Missed opportunity here. They really should have replaced the cars with the electric ones they have over at HK Disneyland. This was the time to do that upgrade.
hey I was in Disneyland from that Wednesday through Saturday and I saw some Honda employees riding it, also Matterhorn was closed, and grizzley river run, I think its called
You would think the archaic ICE vehicles would have been replaced with modern new EV's. Cleaner, less noise. I mean the amount of gasoline fumes that people are exposed to waiting in a queue line for sometimes up to an hour is crazy. They could simply charge up the cars once or twice a day at a fraction of the cost, with no air or noise pollution to the park for just pennies a day in electricity. Heck, they could even had made the cars recharge through the use of SOLAR PANELS. I see no difference from the old 1950's Autotopia
Disney should consider getting rid of Autopia and using that vast amount of space to build another ride like a Tron roller coaster. Autopia doesn't really fit the "Tomorrowland" theme especially with gas powered cars. It takes up way too much valuable real estate in the Disneyland park.
Totally lame ! Like the paint job but same crappy cars this is 2016 for pete's sake. Here's an idea next time let's talk to Mr. Elon Musk Im sure he would've loved to have provided some updated cars that would be electric.
8:33 one of the biggest issues in California, especially around the LA and Anaheim district.......traffic. lol
+Gabriel Lezama and pretty much every other urban area......................
Nice to see disney's adding a little realism for the crowd.... LOL
jaydennadyllo
Gabriel Lezama
Lanette Frost ..
I only have one criticism. I would've thought they'd put in the new electric Autopia car that they showcased at D23 last year.
+The TNT Raider (TheTNTRaider) Pssssh. Electrifying the track would be too expensive IMO.... plus, the fuel burning cars are so fun to drive!
I think the electric ones had batteries
The TNT Raider I thought they were, we'll now we know why there's global warming
My 4 year old daughter is finally tall enough to drive on this ride. We can't wait for our next Disney day! Nice video, thanks for sharing with us.
I remember going on this ride 12 years ago. I miss Disneyland.
Fantastic video, it's great to see that Disneyland have refreshed Autopia!
Theme Park Worldwide the one in paris is still old and unfortunatly not that enjoyable
Theme Park Worldwide pop
Theme Park Worldwide q
Theme Park Worldwide z😔😔😊💕😊😘😭😘😳💕💕💕🙈😄😎😎😝🤨🤪 😎🧐😜🤓
I love that the queue uses some of the wonderful PeopleMover music!
Nice to see a classic back in action! Although it would have been cool to see much bigger changes (different cars, etc.).
I'm with everyone else when I say, they should have replaced those cars with electric ones. Its nice that the cars they are currently using have a new paint job, and rear-view block for people who like to turn around when they drive, but the untouched cars are just parked at the station. +Alexander Younies
They have been repowered with Honda engines with a bit more pep and smoother running.
tpcrb That's good and all, but electric cars are the future, they should have replaced the engines with electric ones. As a matter of fact, making the cars electric is a simple job, the only thing is that its expensive and time consuming.

My favorite ride when I was a kid
Memories 🙂

I don’t know why, but reading your story made me happy.
love how they kept the old petrol sipping cars
Yay! I'm so excited to go in 2 weeks! Glad I watched this to see the new Autotopia!
Me Personally, I love, love, LOVE when Disney goes for a "Retro-Futuristic" theme in the parks. It's partially the reason why I prefer Test Track 2.0 to the Original. I also dig the homage to the classic "Magic Highways" short that they play in the queue of the new Autopia.
now if Honda could sponsor the people mover that would be fantastic!!
well the people mover has to be opened in order to be sponsored soo..
+EVEmasta people mover is still open at Disneyworld
+mrdistraction lol
EVEmasta that is why I said if Honda could sponsor the people mover so the people mover would be up and running again
+Violet Monroe oh my bad you got people like mrdistraction who thinks it's open though. lmao
I'm so excited to come here, I haven't been to Disneyland since 4th grade and I'm going there for a field trip :) can't wait
alexandra recla lucky u just have a beast school... taking u to Disneyland... I'm butt hurt now :c

ONE OF MY FAVORITE RIDES AT TOMORROWLAND!
Yeah... He took the red one.
I GOT THAT REFERENCE XD

wow Looking Good its Been Years Since I Rode This Ride Brings Back Memories The Refurbishment Looks Awesome
Seems the same as it was 62 years ago when I was there. Hope the kids today enjoy it, I did back then. JN
I love the Magic Highway USA clips all over the place.
But here's my one question- do they still give you an autopia driver's license?
Inversiondude last year I went and they didn't give us one T^T
MissFantasyNeko I went 2 months ago and they did
Evelyn Nunez oh so next time I go I'll get one!!! I like to get one for like memories
Inversiondude I went 1 month ago and they did it
Inversiondude i went yesterday and they still give them.
These are always one of the last rides I get on at Disneyland.
Now a days in Disneyland Refurbished means new paint job. Nothing new here. I expected different cars and even a lot more faster.
Thanks for posting all these videos so we can see what's up and new with the ride. ( ps if anyone is wondering it starts at 4:13 ) thanks!
I missed out on this. I was just there earlier this week and it was still listed as being under refurbishment. Maybe I'll have to ride next time I go.
YES! Great reuse of the screen! I'm definitely in favor of environmental touches evoking the old-school Tomorrowland camp aesthetic.
I love these types of rides would like to see more of them
I'm digging the animation from the Magic Highway U.S.A. episode!
This brings back memeories from ages ago, I remember I always use to hit the middle section because I couldn't steer properly and I struggled to reach the pedals :)
This is one of favorite and first rides in Disneyland.
I am so used to tomorrow land speed in Disney world that the size of those cars make me laugh
Wow what an improvement!
I don't see any
they add the Honda badge. what a great improvement!
That was sarcasm lol
I'm glad old Tomorrowland is slowly coming back in various forms. The Magic Highway USA clips and former PeopleMover music soundtrack go great with the Autooia theming. And I might adadd that 2017 will be the 50th anniversary of the 1967 New Tomorrowland Opening. :)
so whats the difference? a new sign?
New colors on the building
What new sign
was just thinking the exact same thing. For closing down and refurbishment, I was really looking for a more noticeable difference. sad. thanks for saving me time getting on this ride.
I'd rather not pout about that. If you compare this with the renovated Club 33, I say they took away WAY too much stuff from the original model.
mrweinerman They got rid of the cars that were supposed to be alive and the car puns, sorta sad
When i went to Disneyland this was closed but the shop was open IT MADE ME SAD :( I LOVE AUTOTIPA
I know what I'm riding first when I go to the park next month!! It's been closed FOREVER it seems!!
"It's GREEN!! It's finally GREEN!!" Oh wait, that's the old pre-show.
Glad to see this get some TLC, just proves this isn't on the chopping block... for the near future
Looks great I just hope it doesn't smell as much. Other than that can't wait ride it again.
Glad that they kept the billboard that u see on the ride becuase they were from chevron
Great, my son loves Autopia.
That was an awesome ride in a whole new experience. :) I love it. ♡
Can someone rescue the Peoplemover/Rocket Rods track?!
Smoke screen I completely agree. It had been abandoned for 15 or 16 Years.
Smoke screen I wanted a Tron Ride for that Track
Bring back the original PeopleMover!
+Fizzy Oh, Thanks.
+Fizzy With what they charge for a single days admission they can afford to add freeway interchanges and multi lane tracks on the ride! Jeez, the rides looks no different except for a few coats of paint.
im going in 2 days im so excited!!!!!

+elijawah brown NO.
+elijawah brown It's one of Walt's attractions, and not every ride needs to be fast or "tomorrow". Stop and smell the roses, why don't you?
If I drive one, I would probably be acting like I was racing.
Its kind of sad to see the early 2000's Chevron version of Autopia go. I did miss the old monitor with the cheap late 90's animation and the glass holographic projections in the que line. But it was also very dirty and faded in colors and design, it certainly needed an update.
Nice driving

like how they got the old fashioned vibe going on as u wait n the line on the screen.
Missed opportunity here. They really should have replaced the cars with the electric ones they have over at HK Disneyland. This was the time to do that upgrade.
I was in California Adventure while they where doing the video.
I LOVE AUTOPIA!!!!!!!!!!!
hey I was in Disneyland from that Wednesday through Saturday and I saw some Honda employees riding it, also Matterhorn was closed, and grizzley river run, I think its called
ugh I loved the car show when your waiting in line big disappointed. and I use to go all the time when I got there.
Looking good!
The car LMG Vids was all scratched and had a lot of rust, also some problems with the gas pedal and water damage..
I'm wondering if they still use gasoline or if they have chosen an alternative source of power.
So it's basically like driving a car around, except a lot slower.
Does it ride it self or you have to drive it
I love the feeling to this ride but the first time I went on autopia my car literally broke down!
And hopefully, the person in front of you hasn't been renamed "Mr Bean".
Are the cars easier to drive?
Nope
Why was it reopened? I thought it was always open?
The cars look different at the Autopia at Disney World
how tall do you have to be to ride alone in autopsies
I got a ticket on this ride for going under the speed limit so I need to take a autotopia driver class tommrow
Nothing's changed but the line...
This looks like the one I go to in Anihiem but ours has Honda stuff every where
Aww yee this was 10/10
Um...so where's all the fabulous changes?
They seemed to do a great job with the refurbishment, but I would still like to see electric cars instead of gas fueled ones.
Looks like a ride for babies to me
Mya Sims that’s if they can reach the pedal
Sorry but I'll keep my memory of Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers Car Ride from DL 1991 instead.
You would think the archaic ICE vehicles would have been replaced with modern new EV's. Cleaner, less noise. do you have to ride with an adult
awesome instead of vlosing the ride they refurbished it and keep the only opening day attraction going
The ride starts at 4:13
actual ride starts at 4:15
Beats the original name, "Powered by Honda...Inflated by Takata."
I'm surprised you didn't get a DUI.
Ride begins at 4:09
Lmao to make us go push your foot on the pedal, to stop put your foot off the pedal
Hmm... kinda disappointing...
Again why did they put rails in the track. I remember seeing OLD videos where the cars moved freely!
Disney should consider getting rid of Autopia and using that vast amount of space to build another ride like a Tron roller coaster. Autopia doesn't really fit the "Tomorrowland" theme especially with gas powered cars. It takes up way too much valuable real estate in the Disneyland park.
so this open again ok.
IDK WHY THEY HAD TO CHANGE THIS... DISNEY RUINED MY OLD DAYS OF GOING TO DISNEYLAND!!!
disneyland in?
1:42 Is so miss leading. Why is that there? 😧
Totally lame ! Like the paint job but same crappy cars this is 2016 for pete's sake. Here's an idea next time let's talk to Mr. Elon Musk Im sure he would've loved to have provided some updated cars that would be electric.
Electrifying the cars themselves is pretty simple. The challenge is in keeping them continually charged.
Why does the engine sound like a lawnmower? 🤔
just a tad bit more power than a real honda civic
half of the video is just you walking in the line
So all that's new is a few coats of paint?!! C'mon Disney, at least amp up the cars so they can go faster than 4mph!
Aw man my pass expired 😩😕
