Purpleback slips on a blue fruit peel, tosses a grenade in the air, which launches Silth 50 feet away, accidentally igniting a scavenger weapon stash. One of the explosive spears is launched into the marshmallow scav, who gets rocket propelled into Arti. Comedic explosion sound effect.

one thing i've always been curious about is if scavengers have hooves, claws, paws, or hands... their walking sounds like hooves, but then how would they hold spears?
It might be a mixture. Maybe their palm might be hoove like while still being able to have fingers... I'm not sure on anything but its an idea at least
I’ve found a peculiar ID that I discovered with the Scavengers. They have 0 aggressiveness, bravery, 0.22 dominance, 0.71 energy, 0.97 nervousness, and 0.87 sympathy. The ID is 1229
Kind of funny how for about the past 3 iterations of this series all the scavs have had immense genetic defects and were completely inept when it comes to any form of combat.
Its so cool how many variations scavs come in. If you dont mind id like to share a list of some interesting specimens of my own! Unfortunately because i play on the switch I don’t know their ID number or stats, so i will give you detailed descriptions of these individuals.l The first one i think you will like for their skill. I call them Kalamari. It has a white body and a very vibrant reddish orange head, it has thick medium 2 pointed antlers, large dark hollow slanted eyes like angry eyes, thick and round medium mandibles and long thin fangs or whiskers, as well as long pointy frills only on its lower back. This one is very confident, bold, spearing its enemies with no hesitation, and has insane dodge and counter skills. Every time it was about to be hit with a spear it intercepted with its own or ducked all very precisely. Another one I call Jam. Theyre a deep strawberry red color with goofy pale purple eyes with black pupils. The eartlers are thin and average size with 3 points on each, and they have small thin mandibles and 2 tiny little fangs between them, and some short fluff on their back. Jam isnt very brave, but they will kill a lizard if it gets too close. Then theres Egg, an off white scav with a large yellow head and small orange eyes with black pupils. Their horns are short and thin with only 2 points on each, and very short pointy mandibles. Its also got some yellowish fluff on its back. Probably the derpiest looking one I’ve spawned lol. Next is Stag. This scav has the average dark body color, but the largest most impressive eartlers ive seen on a scav. The eartlers have 3 points which have white tips, as well as long thick mandibles that also have the white tips, and 2 very prominent fang between them on a rather small head with big vibrant green eyes with bright red pupils . Another is Poppy, a darkish pink scav with a dark head, long 2 pointed eartlers and prominent heart-shaped mandibles. It lacks fangs, and has large blue eyes with dark blue pupils on a small head, as well as a little tuft of fluff on it’s back. Skeeter is a very average looking scav, with dark brownish grey coloration and big yellow eyes with black pupils. It has long bendy prongless horns, short mandibles, and long thin back hairs. What stood out to me about them without them is their singular, long tooth that looks like a proboscis, which has 2 very small curved fangs on either side of it. Blueberry is one that i found naturally while playing story mode. They are an almost purplish blue with a dark head and big bright purply blue eyes with slightly more purple pupils. Its eartlers are medium with 2 points, with medium mandibles, about 2 tiny fangs and medium back fluff. Baja is a stunning vibrant aquamarine or seafoam blue, with medium spiky back fluff and some long and thick mandibles and eartlers, as well as some extra little nubs between them. Its eyes are a desaturated yellowish greenish color, with slightly darker pupils. Baja isnt afraid to spear any threat that gets too close. Then a more competent counterpart to Purple Back is… Blue Back! It has a dark grey brown body with fancy blue long back fluff and big blue eyes with slightly darker pupils. It has longish, about medium 2 pointed eartlers and medium mandibles, with some small thin fangs or whiskers. Finally and probably my favorite is Butterfly. They are a nice tanish peach color with long eartlers and mandibles that together look like blue tipped butterfly wings. It has tiny dark eyes and pair of very short little horns between the mandibles and the eartlerss, and a few thin fangs or whiskers that seem to be only on the left side of its face, as well as a long tail. Butterfly despite their unassuming name is a brave killer, and will go after any threat they see and relentlessly spear it. I wonder, have you seen any of them? Can you find them? 🤔
I'd like to suggest subject 18375, dubbed "Harsnap" for experiments. He is a brightly colored scavenger with mostly above average stats, I think he would be interesting to see in action.
Creatures that are less prone to kill will always do worse in tests as the main objective is to survive in a small space (and kill the threats), so I was wondering: is there any way of giving a different goal to a creature? In the case of scavengers, maybe to take an item back to a room or to traverse a certain path. That way, low stats in combat or aggression won’t instantly make a subject boring to watch due to incompetence (I have no clue what type of work would be needed to do this at all; I have a feeling this would take an absurd amount of modding so I don’t expect this to ever happen, but I just wonder if it is possible at all)
It's possible! But I'm not particularly skilled in coding and creature behavior in Rain world is finicky and unpredictable already. In safari mode for instance, if you take control over certain creatures and try to make it go into a room that is tagged as forbidden in the game's world file, they will resist your control over them and attempt to leave said forbidden room, (the most obvious example is in Metropolis safari mode and trying to make a scavenger go into the Scavenger king's area). I have thought of trying to do snail race type experiments, (maybe not with actual snails lol) but unfortunately that idea fell through due to the fact that creatures can't see the entire screen like the player can; they actually have a vision cone and range of which they are able to detect noises and other environmental changes. You could place a pearl in the arena, but it's never a 100% guarantee that the scavenger will actually see it, or even attempt to go for it immediately.
Hey. I recently heard of the existence of special Slugpups that are similar to some of the unique adult Slugpups, like rivulet and gourmand! With them having their qualities and powers/weaknesses that the adult versions do! You should try and make a test with them! You might get some interesting results.
I’ve done some testing with them, and found that the spear master slugpup, when given food, will do the input for eating like a normal slugcat…. Which ends in them creating infinite spears. Poor guys can’t eat ToT - also! I’ve seen them on occasion dual wield spears, but I’m not sure what it is that makes them do it Gourmand pups can crush enemies, not as effectively as the adult version though. Saint pups can’t throws spears and only eat fruit. If they eat meat, they collapse as usual - oh yeah, and their tongue ability works rather well Rivulet pups are just little rivulets lol Now the ARTIFICER PUPS… those guys are insane. They’re the only SlugNPC AI that will actively seek out scavengers to kill them. Highly aggressive, and I noticed that if they spot anything while in ‘kill mode’ they’ll spear it without hesitation… including other slugcats. And they do have the same jump boost ability, but slugNPCS hardly ever do the input to activate it, so it’s never used effectively. Still really interesting though!
