That engine looks sharp in the Charger! The chrome air cleaner cover looks best on it. Again, I want a General Lee Charger even if I have to build it myself. Great job! Nice to see the project coming together little by little.
Don't blame the Dukes! The mojority of those cars were 318 Coronets. The few real 440 Charger R/Ts were kept for special scenes and were (mostly) unharmed. That show didn't have the budget to wreck Chargers haha! They kept swapping parts on the Coronets and adding sound dubs.
Awesome! The engine looks so cool! Love the blue on the water pump and the coyote air filter. If you're putting in the other air filter colour, I suggest turquoise.
Excellent video as usual. I am thrilled that you are doing so well. I enjoy that you talk "to" the viewer and not "down to" us. You are a success because of who you are. Congratulations!
Should shop around to pick up an old Cannon Power shot 110 with 8 X zoom to use in the shop, or for emergencies, the old ones are pretty good. and not too expensive. The headers are great, keep up the hard work, and eventually, you get to the easy stuff.....
Don't Forget Air Conditioning. It is Alabama After All. I suggest www.vintageair.com . I use them as does Jay Leno, and Adam Corolla. The perfect fit for your vintage car.
Not a Mopar fan by any means, but I enjoy your videos. I'm so glad to see some younger guys into the older cars. Thunderhead289 brought me here. Keep it up sir.
Being a whole year behind I haven't seen the car yet but I would paint the air cleaner lid and the black part of the valve covers the same turquoise the engine is painted with!
Hey Dylan, great stuff you got going on here. I watched a video a while back of you putting in aftermarket head lights on your dart and was just wondering how they held up and if you changed anything around. I was going to use the same exact setup on my 66 satellite if it held up good. Thanks have a good one
@@DylanMcCoolVideo thanks dude I appreciate it much, you helped me out a lot. I'll have to send you some pictures of the satellite if your still doing that sort of thing. Thanks again.
Dylan, you are a very talented young man you make it all look very easy which I'm sure it's not, Love watching your videos, I would love a charger , I can imagine driving one over here in the uk , love it
Great job Dylan and the new camera looks great. Only thing the road mic sounds like crap and when you use the camera's mic sounds a lot better. Also watched many of your video's and now just subscribed. Keep up with the great work.
Be glad you did not get those Doughs ceramic coated headers, I bought a set of their side pipe ceramic coated headers for my 80 Vette, with in a year the headers started to rust, now the headers were not cheap $740.00. I called Doughs and they told me that I should have wiped down my headers every so often to keep them from rusting. So I painted them with heat exhaust paint
I remember when "Doug's Headers" a.k.a. Headers by Doug was still owned by Doug Thorley himself - a pretty awesome old-school gasser from way back. Ironically, "Doug Thorley Headers" was run by his ex-wife and sold out to Summit way back. Doug's sold to Pertronix after Doug finally retired from what I hear, but still makes 'em from the same old designs and tooling.
Dylan just a suggestion but i think the engineon the challenge would look best painted the turquoise color of the engine also same color for the headers but on the headers where it is already polished aluminum where the lettering and where the raised lines are that should stay how it it that polished aluminum. If i were doing that car that is the way i would do it. Well good luck, i look forward to seeing what you decide and what new things you are going to do with it. Thanks again, shane snouffer.
Fine job on this video & the headers. That new camera will hopefully give you another 5 yrs of video service. I for one hope you stay w/a carburetor even after you break the cam in. I can just hear the FI crowd screaming :) As for the air cleaner cover, paint it to match the block...Nothing like going to a car show w/something that looks like you pushed it there - & then you open the hood. I'll be looking forward to hearing that starter whine as the 440 comes back to life!
I know that most car guys are working on a budget and this might be a bit over that, but instead of the FiTech, i would have gone with Holley Sniper EFI and the Hyperspark Distributor since they work in tandem with each other and allow you to have a lot more adjustment with the timing since the components are all electronic. All you'd need is a laptop and software to tune it.
Not sure if you've heard of a TH-cam called Nick's Garage. Nick's from Canada and he has a garage that he's owned for 40 years. They work on old Muscle Cars, but his specialty is Mopars. They build some very cool engines and test them on their dyno. Thought you and your Dad would enjoy checking him out!
Love your new camera btw. And ur videos I especially love the charger you are skilled. Please keep us in touch with the charger keep up the great work I enjoy your videos.
FItech is no bueno. We used it on a LS build for my brother's LS Chevelle and man it didn't idle for crap even after driving, had to reset the settings for the basic settings EVERY time we turned the key on and off. Returned it to Summit and spent the extra for Holley EFI and it's so simple and better in every way.
@@frigglebiscuit7484 No, bought the FITech specific for LS multiport fuel injection. Has a Holley LS highram. It was cheap crap, should of known for the price. Holley is WAY better quality, user friendly, and the tech support is actually helpful vs saying "did you read the manual" when the manual didn't have anything to fix our problem. More people are unhappy with FITech then more are happy. Alot of people have the same problems we had and went to carb or Holley EFI. Hell even FAST efi is better.
Dylan, I know you've been waiting on my comment since my last one... Dude this is my favorite project of yours by far. I'm an old Charger fan so I just might be biased on that part, but yeah, I'm sure you really weren't waiting on my comment, but I'm a new subscriber. Awesome channel
well I got to watch all the videos all the way up to the road trip look like you're doing pretty good job that look like a charger but you know work in progress.
Great job and those aluminum heads are awesome. I would install hemi valve springs. I think they test at 200 lbs. Sorry you spent money on the oil pan. The original is better especially when you add an oil cooler which increases the engine oil to a little over 7 quarts. I would have ordered all metal gaskets from Chrysler for the oil pan and for the heads. I use permatex sealant in lieu of silicone. Chrome plate the original valve covers to match the chrome air filter lid. And remove that decal from that beautiful 6-pak air clnr. I'm surprised that the air cleaner interfers with the hood because your intake manifold is a low profile torker. Why in the world would you spray paint with both garage doors closed and you breathed in hazardous volatile compounds in your lungs and blood stream. When working in the garage the first thing you do is open the doors. Reminds me of a TV show titled "chasing classic cars" those guys even run the engine with the garage doors shut and they show the garage from the outside with bay doors closed but people working inside. That is wrong, nobody does that. The double roller timing chain is good. Your upper sprocket is not billet (forged aluminum) it is just machined from 6061 and I worry about wear on the sprocket teeth. If you had a '70 440 engine you could install an 8 degree off-set bushing to advance the valve timing. Anyway you are doing a great job and your video is excellent.
Dylan, the charger is really starting to look good!!! Can't wait to hear it roar to life!!! On another note, would you possibly have a firewall out wiring harness for a '74 to '89 dodge truck? The one on my trailduster has been cobbled up by previous owners, and I'm at a total loss with tyring to fix it. I'd be willing to make your price! Thanks.

Looking great! Keep up the great work! For my 66 300 vert, I ran across a 66 Hi PO 383 and 727 trans out of a 66 Dodge cop car.....
this is how you do it. good quailty parts. and only do it once. great job dylan.👍👍
I agree.
if you can afford it, lol.
If the original hood is good, you can clean it up and smooth it out and use it as a plug to make a mold to make all the hoods you like.
Awesome job so far. Sucks so many chargers have been destroyed for TV.

Beside the Rode microphone being directional to the front. The new camera gives way more colour it seems. Looks nice! 👍

Is a 1978 f350 lariat ranger xlt for $8000 worth buying? Idk about rust but it needs a seal between the transmission and engine no power brakes
