Filter Out will likely see more play in cEDH than anywhere else since it can directly affect Dockside Extortionist, one of the format's most powerful cards.
Rebuild the City targeting Field of the Dead, make 3 more Field of the Dead, trigger 4 copies of Field of the Dead, make 16 Zombie Tokens on top of having 4 Field of the Dead on the board.
It is so amazing to see all these X spells being designed. However it makes tuning my Magus Lucea Kane (Magus X as I call her) way more difficult as I’m cycling (no pun intended) through these spells to see if they work well or not. Most often they do meaning I leave them in which makes it difficult for cuts. I’ll probably just build two Magus X decks. One fun where I put in all the silly X spells I’ve wanted to cast, so it’ll be a 4 or 5 on power level, and the one I have right now which is an 8 or 9 power level. I could finally play Sands of Delirium though! XD
Glad they are finally giving us dinos with etbs like tranquil frillback because gishath puts them into the battlefield and a lot of the good drinos have cast triggers
Tolarian Contempt reminds me of my favorite control combo. Lavinia of the Tenth combined with Conjurer's Closet. Absolutely shuts opponents' boards down sometimes.
Filter Out is a fantastic board wipe. It can be reactive cast to shut down a Dockside Extortionist (they cast Dockside, you cast Filter Out to bounce all artifacts/enchantments to leave them with NOTHING), shut down Voltron strategies, enable Spellslinger strategies (tap all your mana rocks and treasures, then recast all your mana rocks), and a bunch of other dumb fun effects. It pretty much always provides more advantage to you than it does anyone else (a couple corner cases exist where you are enabling someone else's strategy). It is a nuts card.
Thoughts on Feast of the Victorious Dead? Seems like a slam dunk in an Elenda, the Dusk Rose deck. You get a total of 8 +1/+1 counters for Elenda every time you play something like plaguecrafter.
Yea, open the way seems quite good. 6 mana get 4 guaranteed lands of any type is fantastic. Doesnt belong in every deck but the ones it does itll definitely be a house
Just started commander not too long ago; regarding cosmic rebirth, do you have to clarify when your commander dies that you are choosing to put it into your graveyard instead of the command zone? And if I do, when can I then put it back into the command zone if I had no way of reanimating or returning the card to hand? Thanks, love your videos!
When your commander dies, it goes to the graveyard. Then you declare whether you're going to move it to your command zone from the graveyard or let it remain there. If you leave it there, the next chance you'll have to move your commander to the command zone is when it leaves your graveyard to go anywhere except to the battlefield. Most likely, you'll have to exile it from your own graveyard.
WI nahiris resolve, let's say I exile something. On someone else's turn they blow up the Enchantment, does my target still return on the upkeep, or is it permanently in exile?
go even better one more time with "open the way" you could also have "amulet of vigor"/"Tiller engine"/"Archelos, Lagoon Mystic (untapped)" in play we can untap the lands it hits so now you make it so you only play GG for the spell for any 4 random lands
Urborg Scavengers is the black scooze in Kamigawa we had white scooze (Lion Sash) when will we get blue and red scooze? edit: I'll just put all my commentary in 1 comment. Cosmic Rebirth might get me to start building Jenara, Asura of War Reckless Handling might go in my Neheb the Eternal deck. it can get Planar Bridge, which can get Aggravated Assault. yes, that's 2 + 14 + 8 mana to start to go infinite, but thats easily doable with that commander 😂
Training Grounds - yeah Nahiri's resolve - too expensive, but maybe someone constructs a fun deck also with red "take control...end of turn" cards. Rebuild the city - too niche Tolarian contempt - looks fun if flickered and in conjunction with cards there the top of opponents decks is exiled and can be played. Overall another money grab targeting Commander players (the are publishing stuff for five years in 2023), they should do more for other formats.
Pinkerton is on the way. Lock your doors and don't answer.
I love your content and want to thank you so much for all the entertainment!
much appreciated

Rebuild the City is definitely going into my Lord Windgrace deck to make 3 Valakuts

Absolutely agree about Open the Way, I'm quite excited for it.
Zaxara will enjoy it, a quick 4/4 giving four lands ain't bad
I want to play 'Rebuild the city' just so i can sing it in the tune of "We built this city" by Starship.
10:47 I like seeing color restrictions on new cards. Makes for unique deck building.
What I really like about open the way is it’s a scaleable ramp spell which we don’t really have
I think it'll go great in my Hazezon deck - imagine pulling 4 deserts and getting 8 creature tokens!
Don’t forget that first line of txt. So typically in EDH you will get 4 lands with it.
@@zackkelley2940 I wouldn’t. But video discussion kept saying 6lands. That won’t be typical.
Tolarian Contempt reminds me of my favorite control combo. Lavinia of the Tenth combined with Conjurer's Closet. Absolutely shuts opponents' boards down sometimes.
Man, you're the only one content creator that focused on positive things about this stupid set and thanks for that. I just needed it.

Filter out also returns Battles, many of which have solid ETBs.
Open the Way would be a nice way to convert Treasures and other consumable mana sources into real lands.

Nissa is probably my favorite. She works really well for my lands deck but it is unfortunate that it costs $20.
That realm land would be good in a skullbriar deck
go even better one more time with "open the way"

Can you choose the same mode on Tranquil Frillback? Like if I pay 5 can I hit two graveyards?
Urborg Scavengers is the black scooze
in Kamigawa we had white scooze (Lion Sash)
when will we get blue and red scooze?

Rebuild the City? More like Rebuild the Valakut
Finally
Training Grounds - yeah
Nahiri's resolve - too expensive, but maybe someone constructs a fun deck also with red "take control...end of turn" cards.

This is an old man yelling at the sky moment.
i don't disagree about the money grab. but there's more cards from this set that i'll be ordering than there was from march of the machine.
