It is a simple lock easily opened with out the key. But I want one. They look beautiful and it nice and chunky. It was nice to see the time spent on “Fit & Finnish” not like some of the tools you get from, well we all know the places let’s not name them

Brilliant skills, really well made and strong.
until you realize that NONE of it is hardened steel and that you could hacksaw through that shackle in under 30 seconds... watching him hammer on the shackle to adjust it's position so it closes is a VERY big indicator that it's just regular non-tempered steel and that's not very secure for a padlock. that and most skeleton key locks are pretty insecure by modern standards in terms of being picked. well made yes, strong? maybe in terms of weight and being able to withstand a few good blows from a hammer compared to other locks of it's size then sure.

works great modern locks can be picked with small lockpicks but once this thing gets nice and crusty you cant open it even with the oreginal key it came with

It is a padlock, yes. Safety, no. And "hardened" (@12:22), lol. You just saw moments before someone drilling the pin hole in it and someone adjusting the fit with a hammer. Can't do those if it is hardened.

Lot of work but the safety padlocks has serious safety issue. The issue are those rivets holding this padlock together. Anybody could use a metal file to file those rivet heads off easily. Safety padlocks bodies should be casted or welded together.
The these are 17th and 18th centuries padlocks not made for professional thiefs, just save things like me and you.

A safety padlock is one that any 4 year old can use with confident that should an emergency should present its self the lock can be removed quickly and safely
In the west a shop like this would be closed due to working violations
