Hey, thanks for watching. So I use the monthly savings method, but I save a percentage of my income each month (about 15-30%). I’m a freelancer and business owner so my income fluctuates, so depending on how much is coming in I’ll save 15% or if I have a big invoice that’s being paid out I’ll save 30% it just depends. I didn’t want to share in detail what I do because I’ve tailored this video to relate specifically to salaried employers who are looking for more consistent and sustainable ways to save money. But I’m happy to share how I manage my finances more in depth in another video if that would interest you?
@MirandaZulu please do share in depth and thanks for sharing your methods. As for me,I use savings, money box and stokvel method which I joined last year.I also use a budget binder to see my expenditure but reckon will go back to my excel spreadsheet that I created to track expenses.I need to try scale down on my expenses though!
My colleagues and I have been doing the incremental savings but because of the inconsistency you are taking about , we would slowly drop out throughout the year and end up not accomplishing the goal amount. This year we twisted things a bit and we are starting from the large amount to the smallest and I think it will be way better , chipping away the large amounts while we are still full of energy and focus because we know once we reach August, September whoah everyone is making excuses and skipping payments . At least by then we'll be putting in the small amount
Me and my fiancee have saved R600k from 2023-2024 to purchase 2 erfs of land. Our target for 2025 is R500k for wedding and 3rd car .Budget is already done for the whole year
@@leratomotloung848 that’s awesome Rato. You’re motivating me more,to save more as would like to buy land too. Please share how you managed to save.500k for wedding,ke kopa go nwa metsi…lol and make my guest eat boswa le mogodu!
That’s great, happy to hear you’ve adjusted the method to suit you better and staying consistent. That’s honestly all that matters, no matter what method you use
It's really not practical for salaried people, especially in South Africa, where we get paid once a month. It's just easier to automate your savings in your budget, but maybe that's boring for some 😅
I absolutely 💯 agree! It’s never been a savings method I understood, like I get the intention behind it but I don’t think it’s the most effective way to go about saving and creating a sustainable saving habit.
Automation is the way to go! It takes away the manual process of saving money, where most people maybe change their minds when it comes to setting that money aside for savings or something. Automation does the work for you and you can go about your day knowing you’ve taken care of the important stuff first.
I have tried the 2 week challenge and I must say, putting away the bigger amounts was a challenge especially in December( also I think it was because I knew I was saving for December family expenses anyways so I didn't see the need to complete the challenge). In the new year, I want to take a different approach in a different account because I lack discipline- the money is easily accessible in my bank account. So I hope perhaps using the Franc app will assist with that. Thank you!
Hey girl, I love that you’ve tried out the challenge and can now know what works for you and how you need to try a different approach. I’d definitely recommend looking at the monthly savings method and using the Franc app to save your money. It’s a great beginner friendly app that is easy to navigate and use especially as someone who would be trying it out for the first time. Let me know if you have any questions around the app or just any more savings tips or guidance! Wishing you the best for the new year! 🚀🥳
I've done this challenge for 2 years now and will be doing it again for 2025. I have a side job that pays me every two weeks, so what I do is mark my 52 envelopes, then shuffle them so the amounts are mixed up, and every 2 weeks, I draw 2 envelopes and that's the money I put back. Sometimes I will round up too, so if it's like $34 for that week, I might not have change, so I'll just put in $40, so at the end of the year, my amount is even higher that I've saved. If you're doing it like you have, you'll not be successful because the end of the year is when we ALL have less to put back because of the holidays. Try it the way I do it and it's EASY! I don't even think about that money! I do it because it will pay my car insurance policies IN FULL for the upcoming year. It's all in HOW you do it! I put $20 into a savings account every week out of my paycheck too....so I have over another grand!
Yay! That’s great. Please check out this video I did that shows you how to deposit: instagram.com/reel/DEe11GptHUw/?igsh=MWdnbm1hZHdmeWgwdQ== Let me know if you have any other questions
Hey please check the pinned comment response. I wouldn’t agree that I clickbaited you to watch as I breakdown in the video that I use the monthly savings option and breakdown my savings goal to a monthly amount for consistency. So if you wanted to save R70K a year and use the monthly savings option you’d need to save atleast R5800 a month to achieve that in 12 months. Sorry you feel clickbaited and I hope you got something out of the video regardless 🌸

I like the Stokvel one, where we contribute R5000 every month x 6 people.
Yes stokvels are really great. Especially when you do it with like minded people, the results are 💯
