@Traveller473, Don't be so sure about that, man, pipe dream is something that u can't achieve at all, while designing and 3D printing items is not rocket science, at least if you want them to just look real (and not work like real ones), I mean, I was thinking just like you couple years ago and now I'm making many things for myself and it's getting more and more easy every time to design and print smth, get yourself any good entry level printer that you can afford and just try to make some things, good place to start is something like Creality Ender 3, or Flyingbear Ghost 5/6 (6 is better out of the box, and 5 gives more opportunities to upgrade it so u will get more experience) and for 3D software Fusion 360 is nice and free for creators, plus it's much more intuitive than other 3D software (at least for me). Probably the best looking 3D printed m1911 blowback gun I’ve ever seen. And if it shot like little foam balls or something, It would be better, but still a good build. Good job 👍
The only thing I miss about this model is the trigger being set a little far forward but that is easily forgiven for the design. If I can find all the springs for it, I’m definitely printing this.
Great design, my attempted make did not function at the end of the build. I was unable to get the trigger mechanism to function properly. When it did catch the sliders inside it was unable to generate practically any tension to get it to "blowback". The hammer and trigger together work great and everything slides. If i pull the slide back and give it a light nudge it will slide back forward but I cant get the trigger to cause anything but the hammer to fall. Fortunately, I only need it for a stage prop and it does not need to fire multiple times.

why is the trigger like that? the 1911 trigger has no gap between it and the main frame. If you ever update the design, make sure to add that detail.
