I went on the sister ships last year the Aida nova. We really enjoyed it. We speak no German but the crew spoke excellent English. I agree with the comments about the entertainment. There was a rock bar on the aidanova and a night club which stayed open untill late. We have booked to go on the cosma on the 17th of February. We are a little concerned as it's not letting us book and included specialty restraunts, they all seem fully booked. Thanks. For the video guys Subscribed

I’ve been thinking about AIDA for a while and you guys have convinced me to give it a go. Interestingly, I just got off my first Costa cruise and it is fun to see how different the ships are with the same basic design. Also, Italians vs Germans. On the Toscana, the partying went on into the wee hours of the morning every night.
Yeah! Have a fab time when you do book! It is cool to see how they are the same and also different 😃 We loved our cruises in Costa we may need to go back and party with the Italians again soon 😊
There is actually a really nice perk if you own some stock of carnival corp you can request some free (40-75€) on-board credit for AIDA. It's a nice little travel hack if you plan your next cruise.
What happens if you surrender your passport in Tenerife, then 5 days later you dock somewhere and someone asks for ur passport when ur in a different country? Then what do u say? Cause when I went to Madeira we were told that passports were mandatory and there was actually a security guard waiting to see ur passports. Or what happens if ur ill in a certain port and u need to get to hospital, so u leave the ship and go to hospital and then the ship leaves the port without u, then what do u do without a passport? Out of everything I find that absolutely bombaric, especially how I always bring my passport with me when getting off the ship incase I need it!☺️ Also, I assume Aida offer English menus in the restaurants and the entertainment is English too?☺️
It’s pretty common for certain routes and nationalities to hand passports in when in a ship… in those circumstances the ship does all the formalities with customs and border control so you don’t have to 😃 For example in Madeira we didn’t therefore have to do passport as the ship managed it all. You can ask for your passport back also if you really needed it 😊 Most menus had a translation but entertainment was mainly in German 😃
@@CruiseBuoys I ask because we met two guys with a kid on a bus in Barcelona when we did a cruise on MSC with our baby. We figured out that we had "talked" on the MSC group on Facebook. I think that they sailed on another MSC ship then the one we sailed on.

Interesting, but don’t think it’s for me. Nice that there are themed buffets, but no MDR? Nice areas for kids; theatrium is weird. No stage in the Brauhaus? Even on Christmas Eve? Strange. Great that Josh is learning German. He has grown so much! Nudie spa? Oh my!😂
Gents, the Beachclub had every night entertainment with the Ship’s absolutely fantastic Party band ( Sleepless I think is now on Cosma). Rock Box has daily live music in the evening, there is a show 2x each evening in the Theatrium, including 4 Cast Shows. There is live piano music at the Aft pool. Aida has great entertainment! Also, Sushi and Hotpot are paid venues but French Kiss, Mama Mia, Oceans, Beach House are Included sit-down restaurants with great food ( in quality compareable to present-day Celebrity MDR), but yes, you have to book these before you board as they are so popular.
Thanks for watching... not sure if we missed the beachclub each night but we always ended up with sound checks when were in there 😄. We did wait around the Theatruim most nights but only saw a show or 2 apart from that we didn't see any others.We lived however sitting on the aft at the lanai bar with cocktail and a blanket ☺️ Wish we had booked some of the resturants before however we did have Christmas meals in the Brauhaus and French Kiss and they were great 👍 👌
Never noticed a smoking issue on our 4 previous aida cruises, hopefully no issues when on cosma at the end of the month. Also, hands up! I get shuttered by 10-11pm nowdays, but the rockbox or beach club would just be starting up normally!
It was a real let down with the smoking… hopefully it gets better… 🤞 we went to the rock club and night club a few times… it was soo quiet… perhaps it changes if your on a different itinerary? 🤷
@CruiseBuoys I think in general Germans that don't travel to Mallorca are calmer but the issue now was most likely also the time you traveled. In winter mostly old Germans travel to the canary Islands.
Great video - I am German and I agree - great ship design (Meyer Papenburg), good buffets, but boring nightlife and too many smokers. I prefer the smaller Costa ships - terrible design (Joe Farcus), bad buffets but good meals in the main restaurants, great shows and parties and only sometimes smokers (the Germans).
Holding passports because of Brexit? Hmm, why has that never happened to us during any of the European cruises we've taken during the past couple of years.
One thing I did notice since Brexit is how keen UK Border Force are at the UK ports. For example, we boarded an MSC ship in Hamburg and upon arrival in Southampton, we were looking forward to an excursion to Stonehenge and Salisbury. However, we nearly missed it because Border Force came onboard and insisted that EVERYONE - even if they were staying on the ship - provided their passports for inspection.
Yes, cruise ships always have, depending on the EU country, to hold passports off third countries, as the UK is now a third country that's why. I've had it on Costa and MSC

Did you visit Barcelona during a cruise in 2018? Might have been in April or September (we did two cruises that visited Barcelona that year).

We may have been unlucky but we have been on other cruises where you can smoke on a balcony and not had an issue.

Yes… Sadly, we had a similar experience when we went on MSC from Barcelona to Southampton… Border Force were perhaps overzealous 😃
