I'm so glad I found this! When this aired on the BBC in 1993, this was THE moment I fell in love with GnR as a fresh faced 11 year old. It was this 12min segment that paved my way into a lifelong love-affair with not only this band, but was my introduction to all things rock and metal. 100% pivotal moment. Thank you for uploading this!!!
I was a similar age to you, and I remember waiting with frenzied excitement for this to come on Tv - VCR ready to record. In those pre internet days it felt so rare, special and exciting to see them on TV. I remember hoping they’d be featured on some ITV chart show. I think Civil War was at number 30 something of the charts - I recorded that bit of Axl of stage and watched that little clip over and over again 😂

I was there also!! Got in for free! Bryan May got out on time and had an amazing show with a killer band (neil murray, cozy powel) and two amazing female singers! After 2 hours (!!!!!!!) maybe more... and after a lot of plastic bottle been thrown on stage, GnR came out with Nightrain!
Thank you so much for uploading this, such great memories... I was at that show, but I was too young I mean like 12 years old, and wish I was a little bit older to be honest. Of course I wasn't in the crowd (wish I was though haha) was with family members in the so-called V.I.P. area, but here's the kicker: A family friend of ours had the proper connections and we briefly met with Slash, Duff and Matt backstage after the show. Axl and Izzy were nowhere to be found. It was surreal. I'm glad I watched almost the original lineup bar Steven Adler. Again, thanks for uploading this.

@Alexandra what's crazy is I actually had hair like his. Really big and naturally curly and wild and I hated it!!! Haha. But then at 20 I got sick and my immune system went way down so it must have took all the curls out of my head because now my hair is straight and I hate it haha. He's an amazing guitarist. He's extremely sexy and he's a huge animal lover which I love. I remember my asshole friend, I said God I'd love to go out with Slash and he said.....but he's half black. I just looked at him and I said........and???? Jesus Christ we wouldn't have rock and roll if it weren't for African Americans. They built the foundation. Chuck Berry. Jimi Hendrix. I had to kick that guy to the curb. And I also love that Slash's inspiration was Joe Perry because he was also mine. I started playing guitar when I was 8. So Joe Perry is who got me started and then I had to stop for a little while and Slash is the one who got me back to playing. Man sorry I just wrote a whole monologue. Guns n roses just brings up a lot of memories for me and Slash is one of my idols.
Unfortunaly he was right worried about the grash.after the show there were holes in the ground i also saw with my eyes people pulling out the grass just for fun..................
@@ZX-fx4tl he never enjoyed to spend time with the band and crew. He was like the star, he never rehearsal, was always late even for concerts when everybody was there. They even recorded use your illusion by phone cos he wasn't at the studio.

I was just kidding with you but to be honest I hate 90s "rock". It's not rock to me. It's like...oh I'm depressed and I hate my father and my mother drinks type of music.
In the use your illusion era the band imploded into rock theatrics. Backing singers horn sections, covering fm radio friendly songs like knocking on heaven's door. It just became corny.
I video taped it and watched it over and over. Even now, I still kind of knew what Slash was going to say next. Must’ve watched that part multiple times 😅
I like this video because it greatly diminishes the mithology of certain rock stars being always wasted and drugged to the gills. The relaxing day on the yacht after the concert shows that most of the time they are normal people enjoyng life...yeah maybe they are a bit hung over, maybe a line or two slipped in at the hotel the night before...but I mean this is miles away from them being described as a desperate bunch of lost alcoholics and junkies.
Worst rock concert of the 90s in Greece, this and many others they played around Europe during that time. They delayed every concert for 2+ hours ,they were drunk and throwed pizzas in the fans :D ,they played for about maximum 1.20 hours .Brian May who supported them was waaaayyyy more decent .Fans were very tired and angry with the band when the concert started,but we have to give them credit that they came at their peak of their career as a band .

I was 3 in '93 and i remember jamming to this music as a kid Nirvana Soundgarden Pearl Jam mtv and all i miss the 90's.
