Johnny is another shining sample of the California public school system, as am I, but he doesn't seem to know about the Romans in the British Isles, who Prince Andrew is., or that a world class city like London might have parks. 🤣 To his credit Bald seems to take it all in stride without judgement.

@@zenarcade64 Be serious. I think it is because they are on the west coast. They learn more about Asia while Americans on the east side learn more about Europe. It's also related to the food. harder to get European foods (bread, dairy, pasta) in places like Hawaii than Asian foods.
Even though Bald is now in his native land it almost seems strange to see him away from the lands of the former Soviet Union. So glad to see him again.
Do you not think he looks sad and also like his spark has gone? I think he is struggling mentally to come to terms with what has happened and isn't happy with his new reality.

Well, after being recorded completely trashing Ukraine as Nazis etc. and tugging the forelock to Russian police, Bald will be subdued for quite a while to come. It's hard to live with that sort of shame, of being two-faced for all to see.

I met Mr Bald outside buckhouse, on the Thursday after the Queen died, was there with my wife and kids, couldnt believe it was him, he's a total beautiful English gentleman, really lovely gracious chap. I was delighted to meet him.

It's a trip , I'll bring more stuff with me on a weekender then a 2 week vacation requiring air travel

You guys really need learn a little about how the Monarchy in the UK works. Firstly, The Royal Family do not own Buckingham Palace - it's owned by the Crown Estate, along with most of Regent Street and other historic buildings. Most of the income from the Crown Estate gets paid to the UK treasury - effectively meaning that all the property involved generates substantial income for the public. Secondly, the working royals are paid to perform duties on behalf of the government, in much the same way as the President of the USA is paid to perform his head of state duties. Lastly, the Royal family are independently wealthy and earn their corn from 25% of the Crown Estate - effectively making the Royal Family 75% tax payers. Additionally, they have their own income sources which are not publicly funded. When looking at the bottom line accounts, the taxpayers pay about 102 million pounds a year towards the cost of maintaining the monarchy. whereas, the cost of maintaining the White House in the USA is about 1.4 BILLION Dollars a year. Given that the existence of the British Monarchy is one of the key factors that attracts tourism income of circa 106 billion pounds a year, I think the British taxpayer gets the biggest bang for its bucks.

I lived in Kensington and Richmond Surrey. I went to university there. This was in the late 80’s. Some of the best days of my life!! Love me some English breakfast!
Oh yea, by the way, the Monarchy brought in 55 million in revenue for tourists, merch, entry fees, etc. all the things that generate a charge for tourists. The Sovereign Grant was 85 million pounds in 2021, so that means the Royals cost all of 35 million pounds to maintain last year. That's less than the maintenance cost of one group of the Royal Air Force. That's less than the maintenance spent on the Parliament last year for police protection. It's a drop in the bucket and the Royals could easily do without it if they could earn money for what they do, which they can't. So all in all, it's a bargain.

Johnny, you are in one of the top three cities in the world. Good hotels are probably $400-$500 a night and that’s not for luxury hotels. For $180 in London is very cheap.

I liked the Queen, but I would never want to live a life like her and the royal family had to live. But I really liked the queen, her love story with her husband and everything about her, her hats, and her signature handbags. For me, the Queen will always be alive because we have her so much on video, but for those who lived near to her and in her family, of course, she will always now be missing, but I think she was an amazing person. I love to see her life story. Her father was a doll! And her sister Margaret was a beauty, but the queen well, she is my favorite of all of them. I wish I had a handbag like she carried.

Believe it or not, but Westminster council claim to have the cheapest council tax in the UK. I live about a 15 minute walk from Buckingham Palace (which apparently has 775 rooms) and it still amazes me that my council tax is lower than people who live outside zone 1. BTW: you passed Wellington Arch, not Marble Arch.
That is actually true. Not as many people live there so no need to raise it as much over the years. A grand a year just to live somewhere is still a ripoff though.
