The two engaged in battle, and Vergil overpowered him so greatly, Sanctus referred to his strength "to be equal to a god."

I think this fits better as a battle theme. I think The Duel fits much more for a boss theme though. I'm also pretty sure The Duel isn't specifically meant to be a Vergil theme, but Dante VS Vergil, considering the rematch with Vergil right after has two completely different songs.

Mona Lisa Overdrive is synth and violins, this is guitars, completely different riffs, maybe the drums slightly but the drums do not carry it at all so no. The greatest influence is obviously the theme from the second Vergil fight in DMC 3.

This song kind have a clear matrix influence. The riffs between the main chorus, reminds a lot the highway ost in matrix reloaded

It was planned to be the battle theme for Vergil but DMC4 and 4SE were both botched as hell and it was wasn’t used due to time constraints.
I use this music for Nero in DMC5, fits him surprisingly well, i highly recommend it.
I found using it for V makes him a much more enjoyable experience
