this is how i wish the song really was. the way the screams get more intense in the second chorus and the end the piano is doing the “what a waste of army dreamers”. it’s so soft at the end, like they’re trying to lull him to sleep for a peaceful final rest. like a mother would. i can practically see her son’s life from start to finish in this song. it gives you closure. but that only makes it more tragic. this could bring me to tears.

I imagine this song like a story. The intro part is were we appear in the soldier funeral in a church where the choir, family and friends are grieving.
The army dreamers part is were we see the fallen soldier leaving for the army then cuts to training. Were it builds up to conflict and death.
The outro part is back to the funeral were we only see the mother. Showing a grave then many graves, to show its a graveyard full of dead soldiers.

My younger sister unexpectedly passed away a few years ago- she was a prodigy ACE/STEM student who wanted to become a politician and advocate for women's rights in the workplace, and she was really passionate about music, specifically singing. She passed away in her sleep at 16 due to an at the time undiagnosed Long-QT syndrome, that caused her heart to stop while she sleeped. This song makes me think about her- I knew she was going to do great things in the world, and she was a genuinely amazing person, so it hurts a lot to think about how she never had the chance to achieve her own dreams and see the fruits of her labor.
A lot of my initial grief at her loss revolved around the fact that she genuinely did not deserve to die- she was kind, hard-working, and despite the harsh environments we were raised in she always did her best to be responsible and do the right thing. She wanted to make the world a better place and did all the work to have a great start in doing so, only to be robbed of the chance from initially unknown causes, and I felt angry with myself and the world for what it took- and for a while, I felt like I wasn't worthy of living in the world over her. It took a lot of grieving but I eventually did come to terms with her death, and I promised her that I would do my best to achieve my own dreams for her. I falter sometimes, and I wish I could do better, but I'm getting there, and I want to do right by her, even if she isn't here anymore.
I really love this song, it hits me really hard emotionally and despite the more light airy tone, it's such a genuinely heartbreaking experience when you've gone through a loss like that. This rearrangement does a lot better of a job at the instrumental/backing elements that I felt were lacking in the original, and it comes together to be really moving. Thank you for rearranging it, and thank Kate Bush for making such a touching work of art.
Sorry to vent some heavy stuff in a comment like this, but this song (and rearrangement) resonated with me really heavily and I wanted to share how it made me feel.

it makes me so disgusted how people forget and demonize elderly and children who served. they were all kids. they all had families, and we still dont take care of them. i met a vet in nyc once and his story tore me apart. he lost everything, in war and after. and no one helped him. he was alone sitting in a McDonalds with teenagers threatening him. he had dreams too.

im not orginal comentor but i do wanna say that i agree with you.
thats why i beleive in hating the millitary and not the vets. at the end of the day the milltary use nationalism and money to go over and destroy countries for greed. and i completely understand why you mention iraq. iraq, vietnam, phillipenes, afghanistan, syria and so many countries deserve justice. they did not deserve what happened to them, not matter what justification the goverments use.
but the people in the western world are not evil (dont get me wrong there were individuals who did do henious war crimes though but not everyone), the goverments are, but not the people.
most these people were tricked into defending their countries through manipulation, paying off their loans or being conspricted into wars.
most people were unfortunately following orders, war and violence is unfortunately complex but all it leaves at the end of the day is broken dreams, families and communties where ever it starts and ends. from the wars now to the wars thousands of years ago. war is the most horrible disgusting act humans do.

This song revived a memory of when I watched short documentary a few years ago (I believe it was on VICE) about the process of recovering the remains of soldiers in the Russo-Ukrainian war that's STILL ongoing. The footage itself was pretty heavy, but what stuck in my mind were their ID photos, their IDs recovered from them as the only means of knowing who they were. So young, their lives cut short. So unfair. War is true horror.

i'm so impressed... i've always been the kind of person that stays super faithful to the original song because, in dance, people use covers/remixes of songs that just don't hit the same way as the original yk?
but this? this was perfect. thank you for making this because it's just MWAH :D

Great song, makes me think of something I was told from a former 2/75 dude who was in Iraq and Afghanistan just after 9/11
He thought that going to war or joining the army would make him a man. He wasn't poor, he wasn't drafted, but he thought that was his responsibility as a man. But he then explained that being a man was more. It was protecting people, not interests or ideas, and being kind, generous, compassionate and caring.
I'm still planning on joining the Army. But I doubt I will forget what he said.

I can feel the soldier singing with Kate Bush was calm and restful, giving sounded voice for their country has been free from war.
How I look at my grandpa who used to be a soldier too and had the same fate.
He served in the French Fourth Republic in 1951 as a co-pilot, looking down in the window and seeing his people die and cry in pain, gun shooting trying to defend themself but fate died on them. He can't do anything but watch them suffer in the hell-less war of many casualties and feel sad and regret. After 6 years of serving, he returns to his village home. with grandma and my mom (with my aunt sliding) waiting for him. While eating dinner, still remembering the fate of his people, he cried and broke down.
One night, he heard the spirit of his people (including soldiers) singing and cheering. Even though he saw it was a hallucination, he felt sad but happy, because he knew they would be free from their cycle of pain and fly up, resting their soul, knowing their true best for their country.
He continued living, forgetting the past that he witnessed to let their spirit go and support another country that was stuck in warfare and homelessness.
after his older self, he gave his tale to me and wished I'd respect others and soldier who fight for their country.
And after a long life, he is gone...passed away, not even knowing that he's gone (I was 9 back then). Then I see a pigeon, fly toward my backyard and sing the song. Then my realization kicked in, he had gone without my goodbye.
I miss him, he was kind and protected me ever since I was in kindergarten, defended me from my bully, lectured me about the meaning of life, and told his story of how he used to be. I felt I wasn't worth living in the world. It took much grieving of mental depression to my grandpa's death, I wish I could see him one last time, I want to see his smile and his determent, but I know he isn't here anymore.
But when I hear the song Army Dreamers - Kate Bush in 2019 (and your song, like a remaster or something). It hits me really hard emotionally, the tome, chord background like many soldiers passed away makes me remember my grandpa. Make me want to live and continue to my destination, my dream, and my purpose to stop me from ending myself and living happily for him and for my soul.
Thank you Kate Bush (and you) for making such a touching masterpiece work of beauty.
.Don't worry, this comment is about my feelings about remembering my grandpa.
