I have a 2004 Honda Civic LX Sedan and it keeps overheating and i think this might be it thanks for the video i will try it to see if works i notice a leak from there as well.
thanks for sharing. I'll be tackling this , also replacing the egr and radiator and radiator hoses. hopefully it will be easier for me since im replacing so much
54:58 --never EVER set a wrench on the battery! I saw a guy do this many years ago and after the wrench arc welded itself to the poles it really heated things up!
For anyone looking for answers to your overflow bottle filling and overheating, the problem is not from underflow, unless you had a bad thermostat or water pump, It's that egr housing ***gasket***. Exhaust gases breach the tiny compressed gasket between the water jacket and over pressure the radiator. replacing the gasket and using a torque wrench (not that air ruiner) to get it evenly tighten will stop the leak and your water loss, unless you already cooked the poor thing and also need a head gasket. egr=bubbles in the radiator. HG=oil and carbon in the radiator. This egr low flow fix might have worked better with a new egr valve installed.
This comment is pure gold. Gonna check this out first before pulling the head. Will do a leak down test on the cyclinders first to comfirm if leaks are from combustion chambers into coolant passage. Oldskool shows how to do that. Thanks again Orion. Good Hunting.
Hey did you apply any gasket sealant to that gasket as well? I’m doing a head gasket and when I took the water outlet off I noticed there was gasket sealant as well as a gasket. Not sure if you went straight gasket. I’ve got 2005 civic
Done this a while back nut on housing got loose an damaged gasket again this vid gave me the know how was hoping to see if torque spec was stated can't find it in manual different answers online if someone's sees this help me out lol
Waste of money & time. This did not get my engine light to turn off. EGR code came up again. Good tutorial but, not recommended to clear EGR insufficient flow code!
It was overheating daily until i added water or coolant. Its been over a week and no overheating!! Fixed It!!
Did it hold up well after that first week with those smaller O rings on the metal tube?

@@guardian8319 did it work?
Great video. Thanks. My 04 Civic is leaking at the same place. Your video showed the housing.. appreciate it.

What torque specs did you use on the five water passage bolts?
You should also look into the intake manifold where the egg sends the air! It looks just as bad,it’s behind the engine

I think I have this problem.Exhaust smell in radiator and tiny air bubbles in overflow bottle .I will change this gasket.

How many gallons of pre-diluted coolant is needed to fill the 2003 Civic 1.7 if I remove all the coolant from the car and put the original in it.
At least 2. You gotta make sure you purge the air out good
Mine just has a leak I think it's the gasket it leaks oil and p0401 pops up think this could possibly fix?
Is that the same as a thermostat housing gasket?
Did it fix your coolant leak or was it a headgasket ?
Did you end up filming you replacing the camshaft oil seal leak right by the EGR?
He must've because he's taking forever for a simple job. If you have a civic put a cold air intake to have so much room n more power.
Good vid thanks man helpful
Stripped bolt that goes from thermostat hose to the part you replaced, do I have to replace the whole housing?

Mr. T. kumm get over here boy
My 2005 doesn't have the housing like that. It's separate
Whats that gasket called
I need name of this gasket too
thermostat housing outlet seal, he said it in the beginning of the video

Did this fix ever resolved your overheating issue? I've follow your video and my still leaks and still overheats...

EGR insufficient flow means exhaust ports are clogged with carbon deposits.need to remove valve cover and clean the inside.
@@cesarcastillo8579 i would rather say on the intake ports they are full of carbon. Or could be both. I got the same issue with my -01 civic.
