Using McKenzie and McGill Method along with an inversion table I have successfully over 90 days improved my condition. L3/L4 L4/5 S1 bulging with sciatic pain down lift leg to my foot. YOU MUST PUT IN THE TIME. For instance I used my inversion table starting at a 60 degree angle for 5 minutes 2X per day religiously. This healing is a marathon not something that you do a few times and if you don't feel any results throw the towel in. Dedication and a strong mental mindset is what is needed. DO NOT STOP..

I've had T5 area pain along the paraspinal muscles for about 2 years. I've been going to a chiropractor monthly for a year but the pain keeps coming back. I tried foam rolling but it didn't help much. Yesterday I setup a new Teeter X3 and leaned back 40 degrees. As soon as my spine tractioned, i felt instant relief. My tight knotted back muscles relaxed. I also use the accupressure nodes to dig in more. I plan to use it twice a day, before and after work.

Hurt my back in the weight room, but after using a table just a few times, I feel A LOT better. I think there are some valid points here. But I can honestly say that my inversion table has helped me dramatically, and quickly. Results will vary, depending on the exact cause of back pain. I suggest going to a store where one is set up, and try it a few times, once a day. Don't be shy...you won't wear it out. Try different levels of inversion. Don't go past what feels comfortable. I'm betting that the majority of those who try a table will benefit.

I’m 61 and have a pinched nerve in my neck.
I tried the i version table and i just want you to know how wrong you are. I never felt the pull of my weight on my ankle and knees.
I felt it in my back and neck.
You shouldn’t be on here telling everyone not to buy one.
Some people see a great benefit to using one while others may see no benefit at all.
You’ll only know if it works for you by using one.

    • @AdamJStoryDC

So buy one. You're saying that you feel better in your neck from hanging by your ankles? Great. Good luck. Keep in mind that this is my job and for every 100 people that have tried an inversion, maybe 3 like it and continue to use it. So statistically, you're unique...and that's for back pain, not neck pain. The statistics on people that say their neck pain improved from hanging upside down is even smaller.

I have to tell you I am a chiropractor. I am 54 years old. I herniated a disc and have an inversion table. I herniated my L4-L5 disc, or at least began to have dramatic symptoms of it 3 months ago. I woke up and tried to step on my right leg, but the pain was so unbearable I couldn't do it. It felt like my leg was on fire (a common sensation when a nerve is irritated). I was literally on my back for 2 weeks. NOTHING helped to ease the pain. After 2 weeks it started to subside. The advice of this chiropractor makes absolutely no sense. Traction of the spine is something that is spoken about in all chiropractic circles as being beneficial. There are chiropractic techniques that are based on tractioning the spine. There are some studies that show the benefits of these inversion tables on herniated discs. Of couse you want to be careful when doing it. Most of these inversion tables can be set at different angles to allow for less pressure on the ankles, knees and hips. You have to do it in increments and get your body used to the action on your body. This guy quite obviously has never had a herniated disc and has no idea of the pain involved since he has never experienced it. Just as I treated many patients with this problem, I never experienced it until a few months ago myself. I rely on my inversion table several times a day. It makes perfect sense that if you traction the spine and open up the disc space that the nucleus of the disc will have a better chance to recenter. Yes in a herniation the inner disc material has basically leaked out, but if you think about it, compression of the spine as when in upright posture certainly does not lend itself to optimal healing. Opening up the spine with traction takes the pressure off the spinal nerve root and also allows fluid to flow back into the disc by a process called imbibition. I also go to my chiropractor once a week to make sure I have proper alignment of my vertebra, I make sure my posture is correct when sitting, standing and sleeping. I do exercises that strengthen my core and spinal muscles. Ones that don't cause pain or at least minimal pain in the beginning. Time and your bodies innate ability to heal is what is healing my body, but you do have to get the pressure off the nerve. Traction can be a vital part.

He never says the gel doesn't get sucked back in, which would be a statement to be judged on (avoiding this because you don't know?), and I would be OK with that. But rather he says it doesn't FEEL that way, which is a feeling of experience -- which is completely subjective. A medical declaration that the gel does not in fact get sucked in or any way benefit by removing pressure from the nerves when using the table would be more convincing of your assertion the table does not work.

The discs on more complex than "the gel gets sucked back in" unfortunately. It wish it were more simple, which is probably why there is a high percentage of people that don't seem to do well with inversion tables. You have to take into account a person's age. People in their 20's can hang from ankles, hips and just about any place else from their bodies and do not hurt. People over 40 years old and over can not do those things with out hurting themselves. Everybody is different. Thanks for reading.

I had a retina detachment 10 years ago after cataract surgery in my right eye. I'm 54 years old and I have a good health and my blood pressure is pretty good (120/80). Many eye floaters in my left eye but eyes pressure is normal. Do you thing inversion table is safe for me if I use it 2 or 3 minutes at the time ?

Ask the eye doctor. Is it safe? I'd tell a patient "No...not safe." But ultimately, go with what your doctor says...this is YT...it's for entertainment and educational, not advice.

      P.s.
If your spine is out of alignment, chiropractor care will help with that in the beginning, but will not completely correct the problem.
