Yenne Lee (이예은) [pronunciation: Yehn] A native of South Korea, Yenne Lee is a classical guitarist who enjoys playing music from other genres. By arranging and playing popular songs, she wants to expand the audience base of the instrument, hoping that would lead to more people learning and enjoying the classical guitar. Her first album, Beautiful (2016), features her own arrangements of popular songs from the 1970’s. Her second album will feature her own classical interpretation of some jazz standards. The first arrangement she completed for this jazz album was “Autumn Leaves,” which she made a TH-cam video for Guitar Salon International’s TH-cam channel in 2017. The video has gotten over 19 million views as of March 2022. She received a doctorate from Manhattan School of Music. Her dissertation was on Fernando Sor’s fantasies and their Romantic features. She has a master’s degree from Mannes College of Music and a bachelor’s degree from Seoul National University. She was a prizewinner at the Indiana International Guitar Competition in 2013 and at several competitions back in Korea. Her recent performances include the New York Guitar Seminar at Mannes, New York City Classical Guitar Society, Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society, Vietnamese American Classical Guitar Society, and Korean American Guitar Society. I took hear a bit of Gaelic in the structure, but also Spanish classical and if course the Korean ballad. Many old folk songs that are based or written to mimic the sounds of nature, which of course are universal. This beautiful song informs us that we are not that different after all.

Heard this song when I was sent to Korea in 1957. It was very catching song all GI knew it but it had lyrics that were very catchy.
