Ben, you know it's what's inside that counts. The new Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer sporting the new inline 6 twin turbo are the only competition for the Platinum, Limited and the other higher power Expeditions. It's a personal preference. The Chevys and GMCs just don't measure up to the Ford and the Wagoneer.
@@youtubecarspottersguide1 The new Sequoia is awful. I don't know what Toyota was thinking, it's like they ran out of money halfway through designing it and cobbled together what they could. The interior layout is about 20 years out of date.

@juliamihaj1314 high gas bills sort of implied if you are buying a heavy land yacht on wheels that doesn't even have a small plugin hybrid battery for regenerative braking and short daily drives. In the city, you are lucky to get 15mpg...but these are really meant to be family hub on longer roadtrips where you can get 30mpg on the freeway while carrying 3-6 people, their luggage, and the family dog without anyone feeling crowded. Paying slightly more for 91 octane is the last thing you worry about, unless your hostage to high California gas rates which are almost $2/gal above what most of country pays.
I have a ford explorer platinum and the interior, the get up and go, and the smoothe drive is SO much better than the other trim levels. If you have the extra cash, long term it’s worth it. If you don’t care about a smooth ride or interior than the platinum is not for you.
like it, cool if there was a low spec or timber line , tremor ver. just need a solid rear axle and no 3rd row have lots of room to do a overland car, camper build
I would get a Limited. Mainly because the Limited Expedition is like the Lariat Trucks and I prefer those. I like mid-luxury. I mean, honestly, a fairly optioned out XLT is good with me too.
The Platinum has massage seats and blue cruise, which is hands free navigation. What is scary is the price increase. I got one 22 already new model an year ago for 78 K and 2% interest rate. Now seeing they are at 90K is just insane. The Denali’s are at 100’s which is also insane
Maybe if the F-150 local Australian rhd conversions with Ford Aust. support about to start soon proves successful they'll think of more and maybe offer other RHD countries ...well one can wish...
The infotainment center looks so tacked on and like an afterthought. Ford could've done better in my opinion. There's nothing that really stands out with this Platinum Max compared to other trim levels. Seems like you are just paying more money for a fancier badge
I have a 2013 Expedition EL Limited. It's a peach, and paid for. I have a ton of loaded features minus a big fancy screen, and a simple V8. NO WAY is this worth it. To buy what i currently have in todays version of the Expedition would cost me 90k. HELL NO.
No Ford is worth this price. Well maybe a GT. But an Expedition. Hell No. This thing costs as much a BW X7 which is an amazing vehicle. Ford is just plain crazy.
Too much money for an SUV that is essentially a gussied-up pickup. Buying something like this as we enter a recession is not going to be a smart move for most people. Yet Ford is depending on overpriced trucks to drive their profits. It's like they learned nothing from 2008.
People complain about trims and prices that "most" people arent buying. The person buying this specific trim most likely has the money and buying it for a reason. You act as if the average consumer is trying to buy this lol

@@malcolmn.5222 The trims on the vehicles that most people buy have skyrocketed in price as well. Replacing my pickup that I bought four years ago, an F-150 in volume-leading XLT trim, would cost me about $20K more, not only because of MSRP increases but because the huge incentives that used to be available year round are gone. Ford and GM are now having some trouble selling those pickups, and their solution was to shut down production for a bit in February. A reckoning is here.
The point is that you can get top trim options with lower trim models. For example with my Escape SE Sport, I have most of the options that the Titanium has for $13,000 less. Just click on premium and convenience packages that are value priced. So my SE has Active leather seats, panoramic sunroof, 19 inch wheels, power tailgate, adaptive cruise control, and so on.

If you’re going to spend $90k, then you can cough up another $10k and get a Navigator that is absolutely gorgeous inside.
LINCOLN IS GARBAGE
Navigator has reduced towing limits...
But that’s premium fuel which consistently is so much more expensive.

I wonder what they're going to call the next, over the top, trim level? Ultra Select?
The Expedition platinum is the luxury trim of the Expedition, I like info entertainment center, I, would go with the platinum trim
Wow snow. It’s 80 today here Ben! Great review as always, this things nice but $$$$
Should have the shifter from the F-150 and bring the folding center console to have the work surface table thing that that F-150 has would be better
It’s not a work truck though?
@@Ejscars still it would be a cool feature to have you can get that feature even in the higher trims in the F-150 it's not just for the work truck
Platinum also has massage seats in the front.
Would have loved some comparison to other trim levels, not clear what is unique to platinum
I think it looks cool. A slicker grill would look nicer, but that's what the Navigatior is for. But that screen is a little large.

i wish my mom would trade in out ‘21 explorer for one, at least a limited max😢

Insane Ford Ben !!
We had one when I worked at Ford. The carpeting is really crappy and thin and the seats rattle loudly all the time.
I’m looking to buy a 2015 ford expedition EL platinum at $16000. Hoping it’s a smooth drive
does 2023 platinum has massage seats
For the money I want more features like massaging seats and driving assist like the Yukon…..the weather out there is crazy!😂😮

Not worth 90k, not even close, I bought a 22 XLT max for about 71k and that isn’t worth the money either. Garbage materials used throughout.
