I have made myself something similar but much bigger for my milking buckets. I have one cow that almost always moves her massive leg or has a fly near her udder while I am milking. This kind of cover keeps my milk super clean. I will definitely make a set of these for my jars. Been needing to try your homemade vinegars.
Thank you very much for the simple and easy way to adorn my dehydrating jars, and my canning jars, I want to give a sweet look to. (I keep plastic jars to "give away", canning jars are FAR too expensive!) This is a real kindness in allowing us your information without all the stress of starting and missing the first couple of times! Blessings from above.
Lol. I can be such a nerd sometimes...I have an electric machine but I use it as a treadle machine by way of manual slow stitching with the knob on the side. I wanted a treadle but couldnt afford it, so I do that instead. 😂
Easy peasy. I’ll Make some this winter. Means I have to commandeer my dining room table for my portable sewing machine. Getting stuff out and put back up is harder the older you get and I’m not blessed with enough Space. But I’ll get it done cause. THEY ARE SOOO CUTE.
Cute! Very nice! (Cake rounds for patterns?)Many uses for this even if you have plastic containers for little ones things like crayons and little block sets. Probably easier to find than a lid. Make them larger for food bowls for keeping bugs off your stuff. Flies are a thing and they're so clingly in the late summer while you're trying to can. Feel like I'm training to be a ninja somedays. Reusable. Reminds me of the bonnets mom made for my dolls. Little House on the Prairie was one of my favorite shows as a little girl.
Hello Heidi! Awesome video and tips for making jar covers!👍 Thanks for sharing; this will come in handy for the upcoming holidays and birthday gifting!💖 Blessings to you and family!🌻 🦋10/24/2023🦋
Hi Heidi! Thank you so much for the pattern and instructions. I have some scrap material to make some with. You got my mind thinking about homemade gifts I can do. Have a great day!
I used to be in charge of the sheets dept in the thrift store where I volunteer. I would have so many rejects i learned to use sheets indoors and outdoors for quilt backs, mulch, etc. Dont buy full price sheets! If you are afraid of germs after washing using a cup of vinegar in the washer during the rinse cycle will take care of that.( I, too, love to find uses for vinegars!) I've learned new tricks and was reminded of old ones from your videos. Thank you!
Thank you so much....sometimes little things like this are such a big help...like to keep fruit flies and other creepies off the jars....and so cute too! 😊
Thank you! The covers do make the jars look so cute! I love the chicken fabric 😊 Many years ago I also used sheets to back a couple of projects but it never occurred to me to remove the elastic. Great tip, thank you!
I am starting som LAB. I am making some covers. So cute. I will make some for gifts also. Friend with a new home will get one with her pantry gift❤ thanks
I love this detailed video on how to make the covers for jars. They make the jars you have out to use much cuter . I’m not a good sewer but can do simple line sewing . Using bed sheets is a great $$ saver . A lot of thrift stores have good used bed sheets . Love this video !! ❤😊
I had just been thinking about these yesterday! In the past I only used them when gifting in jars but was thinking they would be great for keeping dust off too. I'm a pinking sheers, rubber band and square cloth kind of gal 😁 I just like the look and simplicity of doing squares.
You can also use your serger and create a rolled hem with fun contrast colors :) LOVE the reuse ideas! I have the classic treadle and very much considering the Janome you have.
Score I have a friend that has scrapes cause she is a quilt maker. She’s gonna make me a bunch. I’m sharing my herbal medicines with her so I guess it’s a barter. I told you I never bartered but guess I do. I just help out friends n they help me. Cause we love each other v
i love jar covers i make them a lot i also make covers for my bowls because i find my glass bowl lids crack and stuff all the time so i make bowl covers for them
Thank you so very much for your wonderful pattern and instruction! I have wanted to do these since you first showed your jars with the jar bonnets. Blessings!
I was just thinking about making the jar covers! I have a couple quilts I need to finish as well, but I put the sewing on the side during the summer months. Also looking forward to making some skirts! Thank you again for all you do and God Bless!!
Thank you Heidi! "... and it's cute." Gotta be! 🤗 ☺️ When you were talking about processing your apples, I was wondering how much vinegar you got from the peels and cores! I must confess, I've been splitting the ones I get with the girls.😄 Blessings!💜
I am not using all of them to make vinegar or I would have jars all over the house by now! haha! Much of them I am currently feeding to the chickens but hope the three jars I have going will finish up soon so I can start a batch of wine to use up more of grapes I have and get another jar of vinegar going. I just do not want that much stuff on my counter at once, it just gets too crowded!
Is it just me or does it seem like "GOD" has been preparing us all our lives " for such a time as this"? I will need to figure out how to do the lids by hand. 😊😁🤔
I just grab a long piece, sew, cut off when I get to the end but you can guess it will be about half the length of the distance around where your line is drawn and add a couple inches for good measure
No, sorry, I am no longer doing sewing projects for sale due to time and needing to protect my knee which I injured several months ago...treadle machine work does put a bit of strain on it
Hi Heidi, God is good all the time. Hallelujah.❤❤❤

I've set up my full machine on a TV tray😂 pretty bouncy.
Good luck, honey, I'm gonna try that myself!
@@dfreak01 😂😂
These are adorable! I've always wondered how to make them. Thank you for teaching the base skills to us newbies 🥰
Thank you so much. I have been wanting to try to make some of these. Now I know how to .

Color coordinate for each kid for crayons, stickers, etc. Christmas!!
Love this! Thank you so much!
God bless you Heidi and family! I really enjoyed this and how it livens up the ole canning jars. I pray peace over you all and love, joy, and safety!
Yes yes yes!?!?! I've been looking for a video like this 😁
I like the 9 inch circle for both. The wider ruffle makes it easy to grab the size you need.
I love these covers, they are so cute! Many Blessings!

I was thinking I’d do squares too
Thanks. I can do this lol. I am not a very good sewer but I am trying to improve. New skill! Blessings 🙏🙏🙏
Good morning
So you use the same pattern of for both jars, only difference is the ruffle? Very pretty!
Found it!!! Thank you so so much!!!
You can also use your serger and create a rolled hem with fun contrast colors :) LOVE the reuse ideas! I have the classic treadle and very much considering the Janome you have.
great winter project!
Heidi, this are so cute! What another great teaching video.
So pretty ❤
I make patterns for things like this out of flannel. It doesn’t slip around😊

Looks easy enough 😅😂. Probably not for me, but I will try it.❤
i love jar covers i make them a lot i also make covers for my bowls because i find my glass bowl lids crack and stuff all the time so i make bowl covers for them
I just love your creativity, I keep coming back to see what else I can learn 🌸
I'm thinking I might do a basting stitch around the edge and then stitch them
Thank you for this simple and easy jar covers
You are amazing, right down the sewing machine my grandmother had.
Thank you for sharing Heidi. God Bless!
I’m excited to try these. I primarily sew by hand.
Thank you!!! This is the tutorial I've been searching for
Just the cotton square and a rubber band is fine with me😁
Speaking of pinking shears, how does one sharpen them ?????
You could use a embroidery hoop ?
😊😊😊
Thank you so very much for your wonderful pattern and instruction! I have wanted to do these since you first showed your jars with the jar bonnets. Blessings!
Old bra straps are handy too!
These things are AWESOME!!
I was just thinking about making the jar covers! I have a couple quilts I need to finish as well, but I put the sewing on the side during the summer months. Also looking forward to making some skirts! Thank you again for all you do and God Bless!!

Love these!!💕
I used a smaller dinner plate
How do you determine the length of the elastic
I just grab a long piece, sew, cut off when I get to the end but you can guess it will be about half the length of the distance around where your line is drawn and add a couple inches for good measure
how would i figure out a cap for a 9x11 pan?
I love this! What hand stitch do you recommend for sewing the elastic on?
Whip stitch is what I suggest and what I would use
So cute, do you sell them? I have limited sewing skills and this is not one of them.
Sorry, no, all my sewing related goods I had to stop selling due to time and needing to save my injured knee (treadle machine) for my own projects
How long is the elastic piece you use?
I do not know, I just grab a long piece and start sewing
Do you sell any covers. I Would love to buy since my sewing isn't good
No, sorry, I am no longer doing sewing projects for sale due to time and needing to protect my knee which I injured several months ago...treadle machine work does put a bit of strain on it
