  • Nest Hotel is centrally located in Hiroshima and is also very reasonably priced. Absolutely recommend this hotel especially for solo travelers.

    This hotel has everything a traveler needs and a bath perfect. I wish we had 7/11in New Zealand Japan has a really great selection. I love pickled vegetables the Tskemono yum. Tskonomiyaki amazing 👏 ,7/11in Hiroshima excellent variety of food ,drinks and dessert. Thankyou Shinichi this makes me hungry now 💛💛💛👍.😉

    You pick the best accommodations, Shinichi! A centrally located hotel which is cheap, clean, and with all necessary amenities--even a washer/dryer. Who needs more? The 7-Eleven food looked great, as always. So much better than the junk food in American convenience stores. Thanks for taking us along.

    I just heard there was a 7.3 earthquake centered around Fukushima about 45 minutes ago. I know you felt it pretty strongly in Tokyo. Sending fervent prayers that you're both okay and that there are no big aftershocks. I'm also praying for everyone nearer the epicenter, and hoping there is no tsunami. Love to you both ❤️❤️ and to everyone in Japan who has been affected.

    Lightly salted seaweed chips make a lot of sense. Seaweed has the kind of briny taste to it so it's already inherently salty. You don't need a ton of salt to make them taste good.
    I would love to try those someday. Japanese snacks always have such interesting flavours. I would also love to try Okonomiyaki someday.

    This is one city I would like to visit with my wife when things calm down and return to somewhat normal. Its history is why I want to visit. We are looking at just visiting for the day from Kyoto and returning to Kyoto the same day using the JR line to get there (if possible)

    • @Genthar
      @Genthar 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You can do it in one day but you won't have a lot of time in Hiroshima. It's about 2 hours between Kyoto to Hiroshima via Shinkansen. The Peace Memorial is very near the train station, but, you don't want to rush around the area. Take some time to explore the grounds + the memorial museum. If you can stay overnight, you can make a day-trip to Miyajima Island as well which is worth it for the views.

    • @charlesm.1638
      @charlesm.1638 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Genthar ok, thank you for the tip. The memorial museum the one place we definitely want to go to.

      Maybe I am biased because I live in Hiroshima (and maybe dont find it as special anymore!) but it seems to me you could have a decent trip in one day. Things like Peace Park, museum, Hiroshima castle, shukkein etc are all located close to each other. If you came early in the morning by shinkansen, you could probably see all of those things in the morning, go to Miyajima in the afternoon, come back for dinner in the city and take a shinkansen back after that. I also dont mind having a few drinks on long shinkansen rides (about 100mins), so that might influence my opinion.
      However, because I am lazy, I would probably stay one night and maybe go see a Hiroshima Carp game or something in the evening, have a walk around to see the city at night, then return the next morning to Kyoto. There are many relatively cheap options for places to stay in Hiroshima, as this video shows you!

    Watching this while eating vegetarian maki rolls (has cucumber, radish and avocado in it, and of course the nori, topped with avocado and sesame seeds) from a newly opened sushi restaurant in my town- they opened on the 3rd of March. I’m not a big fan of nori, nor am I a fan of avocado, but I do like sushi rice and was craving it today and I prefer avocado over fish generally. Have to say, these rolls are amazing! Definitely going to that restaurant again and may also venture into trying their options with salmon sometime. Felt it was fitting watching a video from Japan while enjoying my dinner today :)

    In the U.S., you certainly do not get the amenities you get in Japan. Most are the cheapest on the market and some places charge for them. A room like that would be $100 a night. I used to work in the hotel industry so I have a clue. All single use shampoo's. Usually no conditioners. Be glad you get all those thing in Japan!!

    What a deal for 29 dollars. I think is so low because, One it’s off season. Japanese would be traveling during spring break which starts during the last week of March. Two, corona pandemic has caused reduced travelers over all. No foreign tourists to fill rooms. It’s better than being empty. I would imagine the price will get higher once Spring Break hits and people go on vacation. Though people tend to travel outside the city during those times maybe not that much higher. Probably 60 bucks tops. Even then it would be a deal. Cheap Motels in Murica are notorious for being really filthy.
