  • I've struggled to learn tre flip for years. It seems like everyone learns tre flip pretty early one but tre flip has been my curse for a long time. Today I enlisted Nyjah Huston to help me learn tre flip. Nyjah Huston has one of the most effortless tre flip ever. By watching Nyjah Huston tre flip i was able to discover how Nyjah Huston does tre flip so easily. So big shout out to Nyjah Huston for helping me fix my tre flip and hopefully I can start getting them clean!

    The key to a solid tre flip is scoop the second the tail hits the ground, no sooner or later. Scoop too soon and the board wants to over rotate. Scoop too late and it will under rotate or flip too much.

    When I do my treflips, I try to keep the board going straight by balancing the weight between my feet and controlling with the back foot. If you take a closer look at the pro’s treflips, in general they don’t turn before the scoop. The upper body being squared to the board helps to keep the board riding straight. By doing this, your front foot will be waiting for the board to rotate to stop the movement. If you read my comment, I suggest you to try these tips… good luck!

    This is a great video. As I watched your attempts, I realized that I have the same problem with my switch tre's. It's the tendency to jump forward or turn my shoulders on the scoop. It makes it difficult to roll away clean because there's lateral movement in addition to the forward momentum. Sorry for getting all technical, but watching this video made me realize this.

    Bro 15+ skater here. Left came back etc etc. I'm back now. Those tre flips are cake. Now they're so hard to grasp on what was so easy to catch on too. My bad habit is putting too much pressure on the front foot and landing in front of the board. I managed to get a good one last week and my front foot stopped it.. so that makes alot of sense. Pressure to the back foot, the front foot is too catch the flip and land

    Align your shoulders with the board. Your shoulder are perpendicular with the board, and at the moment you pop, your legs are gonna follow your shoulders. That's why your first attemps you're only catching with one foot facing forward.

    Just noticed what your problem might be. When you bend down your trucks are leaning toward your right foot. Gotta balance the board so that it’s straight then do the scoop. The rotation is hindered by the weight of your right foot leaning the board the opposite way. 🤙🏼

    I've been doing 360 flips since 2001 but I've always flicked the hell out of them and its worked for me, I've been able to do them into grinds and off stairs but it takes so much energy to do them that way and as the 2000's rolled on I noticed people starting do them more effortlessly and I always wanted to do them like that and I never could! I think this video might just change that. I had a friend in the 90s that always told me, "it's all in the back foot, don't flick, don't flick!" Turns out he was right the whole time! Lol

  • @MikeArpeggio345
    @MikeArpeggio345 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Keep your shoulders in line with your board and you will have a super clean tre in no time. You are flipping it perfect almost every try but you are turning your right shoulder to the right so you do like a 270 flip and have to tic tac the board back. If you keep the shoulders square you'll land square and roll away.

  • @brendancourage
    @brendancourage 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You're back leg is sending it. Try to scoop with the ankle rather than the whole leg/knee. If you notice in Nyjah's clips, his back leg knee stays pretty straight.
    When I do tres, I try to focus on:
    - Keeping shoulders square/lined up with board
    - Popping *down* with back foot (for height and staying in a straight line, rather than jumping way to the side)
    - Scooping with ankle just after pop
    Idk if this helps.
    EDIT: Watched Nyjah clips again, clips of Kelly Hart, and myself and there is some knee involvement with the back leg. Eh, I think my advice still stands. Good luck with tre's, and look forward to the time period where tre's become locked-in but you can't kickflip anymore!

    i have a skate school.
    1.sit with shoulder paralel, dont turn for the board(it.s all scoop) / 2, your weight must be on the front foot 3. scoop it the way explained it.
    and the froont knee a little flexed
    and remember, your your right shoulder must be parallel with the nose of the skateboard, dont turn your hip to right before pop or after( offen happens )
    tell me if this helps u, after u try it, this method made my people do the 3flips. this type of doing the 3flip unlocked my skills on all stances
    . gives u the catch with front foot.
    I,ve seen other ways to do it, but this is the simplest i guess

    Popped tre’s are all about the flick. Not the scoop like everyone says. Slight scoop with back foot in the pocket. And a good toe flick. That’s it

  • @antoinelemieux5576
    @antoinelemieux5576 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Yooo! try to cheat the rotation a bit, by turning and leaning in the direction of the tre flip before unleashing your backfoot... Seems like you are tuning the opposite way just before the pop, there for adding an even bigger flick of your back foot! maybe thats why your are landing not quite the full rotation

    • @localjoe

      I’m making a part two about this exact thing hopefully it works

  • @MDNRTN
    @MDNRTN 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What you could also focus on is keep your shoulders aligned with your board and don't turn before the flick, that's my added tip

  • @thebackwooddon5962

    yo bro nice vid had to sub, i recently got tres pretty good and what helped me was figuring out that by time the tail hits the ground the board should be at 90 degrees already, and to think about popping the board vertical simultaneously. basically the same thing you said that idea helped my front foot do its job and not kill the momentum of the board. and i always had a problem under rotating like i seen you did a good few time so thinking about the scoop like that really helps.

    • @localjoe

    Before I broke my foot, I learned how to pop them from watching Giraud do his. He puts his front foot right in the middle of the board and he doesn't scoop, he pops but towards the direction that you would scoop in and you can blast them.

    It seemed to help a lot when I realized the last part of the scoop is the ankle moving forward as well as back. Of course by then you are popping and your weight is mostly already off of the board from the jump.
