Thanks for creating this platform. You have no idea how helpful this is! I have one suggestion. Could you make a series on how you approach writing storyboards/courses in storyline for different types of content? And how do you make these choices of which type of treatment would work better for the content? The same content can be shown in multiple ways and I always feel confused as to what would be the best approach.
Great question! This brings us into a much bigger topic (and I usually try to minimize the amount of content / maximize practice opportunities), but I am sure that I can create some content like this. Thank you so much for the suggestion.
I think I have found my spot on youtube. I am an MD from Ethiopia working on Health science education development focusing on eLearning development. Thanks for the easily digestable and applicable content.
Hi from New Delhi 🇮🇳 I have recently discovered your channel and have been binge-watching your videos. They are really helpful and informative. I just want to request you to make a video on “how to write scripts for articulate storyline.” I have been looking for this topic all over the internet but couldn't find it. I hope you will see this comment ❤
I would request you do a video on comparative analysis of various authoring tools. Discuss with respect to ID, VD and technical challenges and advantages. Thanks
Hi Claudia! Glad that you found your way to the content 😃. And let me know if you have any questions along the way...we look forward to helping you make that transition successfully.
Haha yes, we all learn that lesson at some point! I remember iterating in Storyline and building as I went. Nice for some things, but can lead to big headaches when working with clients.
If you want some science behind the 30m threshold for learning- John Medina (author of Brain Rules) showed how the 20m threshold for focus is pretty consistent across many performance domains.
More great info Devlin so thanks for sharing. As an ID newbie there is a lot of resources and amazing people to share them, however I'm not sure where to spend my time and energy to keep up. Reading these great books, trying to develop in so many amazing pieces of software to get skills? Some days I feel like I'm going in circles and don't have enough hours in a day.
Don't worry, Jenene. I still feel like this! Since this is such an interdisciplinary field, there is always SO MUCH to learn. Think back to where you were 3 months ago. I bet you've come a long way! As long as you're doing something every day to develop yourself, you're moving in the right direction :)
Jam-packed with a ton of useful info! Thanks! :) I could definitely use a video on visual design if you're up for one. I also appreciate the book recommendations! I love digging into the research.
hi, Devlin Peck, Thank you for eLearning Tips , I'd like just to ask you if you could give some advice on how to work as freelancer instructional designer
Hi Damir! You’re welcome 😃. And yes, I have some articles on my site to help with freelancing: www.devlinpeck.com/tags/freelancing but feel free to ask any questions in the community: www.devlinpeck.com/id
I just found your channel and I’ve been binge watching your videos & subscribed to your mailing list!! So excited for the boot camp. I received my masters in ID in December of 2019, landed my first job with the government and have been working there for a year. (Contract is ending). But I am interested in freelance now.
Nice!! Thank you for checking out all of the content! The bootcamp is opening up at the end of February. The best thing you can do now is work on your Storyline and visual design skills :)
@@DevlinPeckYT sounds good! Haven’t worked with storyline yet & it seems like a lot of jobs (even freelance) opportunities want you to be skilled in at least 1 tool (storyline or captivate). Kinda nervous to learn a new skill again 😅

Great video. I love the action mapping process.
Thanks, I do as well :)
I definitely wish I had started with design in Adobe, or one of the other products, before first iterating in Storyline. Lesson learned!
