Some eLearning suck or fail because the stakeholders weren't clear on what success looks like and what milestones are expected. You're too humble, Tim.
Spaced learning is so amazing! I’ve heard you addressing these topics before, but now I’m being able to apply them to real projects I currently have. And you’re always so incredibly inspiring, Tim! I just love how you put things together and share them with us. Thank you!
As someone involved in corporate training (and hoping to shift to instructional design/eLearning one day!), this video was so insightful and relevant. Great stuff - keep up the good work!
I’m glad you liked it! Thanks for watching! You can find more of my content on these topics in my Knowledge Base here: community.elearningacademy.io/c/knowledge-base/
One thing I have just been taught to help find the cause of a problem, and I plan to use it a lot. The 5 whys. When a stakeholder comes and asks to retrain someone as their performance has dropped. Use the 5 whys to find the exact reason for performance drop. If they can't give a suitable answer as you dig with the 5 whys, ask them to come back. It's usually down to poor management
Hi! I LOVE your teaching style. It’s so organized and succinct! Are your e-learning workshops virtual? If so, do you have a link to a schedule? Thank you for all you do!
Thanks, Kelie! I appreciate the kind words! I'd suggest joining us in the community here: community.elearningacademy.io/home. This is where we host our live events, and I'll have some new ones coming up soon!
@Tim Slade... this is gold 😍Still can't believe you are doing this for free. All your videos are amazing ❤ I am learning and enjoying at the same time. I just don't have enough adjectives to describe how good you are at what you do (especially for someone like me who is just starting to learn ID). Thank you for sharing your knowledge : ) So incredibly helpful 😊
@@elearningacdmy You explain everything in an objective, simple but grounded way, with very useful examples. I already knew most of the theories and principles you've talked about, but the way you put everything together was awesome. I learned so much, and loved the idea of learning as a process, not an event, as an ecosystem and the "plan" for building a learning experience. Thank you, this will help me.
@@daliaantunes1303 Thanks! Yeah...the thing I always tell people is that there's really nothing revolutionary about what I share...but sometimes we need the reminder of going back to the basics.
Glad you liked it! And yes, I have two videos on scenario-based learning... th-cam.com/video/0afyXRdixXA/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/LojlRBHpEyE/w-d-xo.html
Do any of you work 8n a company, where the SMEs and stakeholders run to training when the performance of their employees declines, only to say that people haven't been trained correctly all this time. Even when the employees have been top performers in the past
Hmmm. Great question. Not necessarily. While I like things to be “on brand,” that doesn’t necessarily mean they all have to look the same. What more important is that the user expects a consistent learning experience. So, it’s more important to be consistent with navigation, etc.
@@elearningacdmy Thank you. We have a team of content developers so we are naturally all a little different. I'm thinking we should all have the same "beginning slide" with the logo and company mission (three words) and then launch the video.
May I ask why current eLeraners and Instructional Designers are so critical of educators jumping into this field if many fell into it themselves, sometimes without a background in education and learning at all?
Honestly, I'm not sure! I think there's a bit of a bias for some folks, who don't see a connection between what teachers do and what instructional designers do. Regardless, my best advice is to ignore those folks who are being critical, and keep working towards your goals!
I recently started following your content on e-learning and I learned so much in the past 3 days than in last 2 years. Examples you've used in "Designing Performance-Based eLearning Interactions" were so simple yet so engaging for learners. A BIG THANK YOU for such great ideas Tim.😊😊
So many courses that do not follow adult learning principles because the stakeholders think it's a waste of time and because they want to go straight into the meat. The outcome becomes bullet points on a power point. Makes me want to die!!!
@@elearningacdmy my struggle is not to create ppts that follow adult learning principles. My struggle is to get the stakeholders on board on how adults learn :/

I Have seen a LOT of videos about e-learning and instructional design during past year. This one is great, one of my favourites! Thank you!
Thank you, Dalia! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that!

This is very helpful. I hope you have a video on how to make a great scenario-based learning, I will go check it out.
