My advice if you want this tone get a sterling 5 string bass with the double humbuckers and a dark glass alpha omega distortion pedal the bass right now is about $450 which is a smoking deal for an Ernie ball product. And the pedal is about the same price.
III isn't involved in writing and recording the bass, Vessel handles all the guitars in the studio. but yes, i think Sleep Token, especially Vessel and II, have a way of making every instrument compliment the song itself rather than compete for the spotlight.
At 1:58 with the finger playing, how are you muting the lower strings when you play the higher ones? Or is this not as crucial as muting the higher stings when playing the low B string?
So at some point when a band decides to use a **really** low tuning, is it common practice for the bass and the guitars to play their unison parts on the same octave? And does that still add texture like how the bass being an octave below the guitars would?
When you get down below drop E on most bass guitars, they kind of just sound like low noise with little to no definition. There are some bass guitars that sound clearer but when you play D, D#, E and F it's really hard to hear the difference that low. It's more the guitar entering the bass octave than it is the bass playing in the guitar's octave. It would really be personal taste but it looks like Sleep Token's lowest bass note here is the F# so everything the guitar plays that's under F# is played in same octave. Then when the guitar goes up past F#, the bass can go down to that low string.
On most super low tunings the bass and the guitar play the same octave. They have entirely different sonic characteristics, so they work together to produce a massive sound. If you were to drop the bass even further you would just get mud.
You can see another example in make them suffer's playthrough for doomswitch. The song is on a 7 string guitar tuned to drop E, however Jaya on a 5 string bass is tuned to drop A. As mentioned before, same octave but very different tones and characteristics.
I'd be very surprised if this is not a German made Corvette...the body wood, the brass frets, the truss rod cover...everything looks like the real deal. ;)
@@D3athChick3n From what I have read and heard the Warwick Rockbass line offers some quite decent instruments. But you shouldn’t expect a Rockbass Corvette to sound like this one. 😁 Unfortunately the sound we all desire comes with a pretty hefty price tag. 🙈
i have a rockbass corvette and a german thumb. the rockbass is a very good bass, but the german made basses are on a whole different level. definitely worth the money imo.
Never heard this band, but that tone is massive. I clicked for the Warwick and wasn’t disappointed.
Band is mighty impressive :)
nah bro its always the goddamn warwicks😭
Thay deep bass tone is one of my favorite things in the world to hear 😊
@@thepiratebass_ Do you use a pitch shifter? Great tone! Sounds spot on to my ear!
It’s like incredibly cool.
That tone has me on the ceiling.
Fantastic!
Thank you man 😊
No matter what instrument you hear in front of this song, it’s ALWAYS awesome
What does a imploding Black Hole that drags the universe in sound like?......Damn, that tone is killer, also the playing is spot on!
I didn't think I'd be so excited by the way sleep token tunes their bass..but here I am. Great playing and great tone of course!
What a beautiful Bass. Tone is massive and throaty. Headstock is iconic. I too clicked for the Warwick as well.
I don’t own a bass but between the band and this cover now I really want a bass 😅
i just a few weeks ago started playing bass and DO IT ITS SO FUN

Sheesh this cover is sick! 🔥
I'm not a bass player, but I find this very satisfying. Musically, bass players, do you like this playing from III (not just the tone and sound here)?
The band has so much talent. Unfortunately the vocals and drums take the cake
The answer is yes. They're fantastic

That bass tone is sex
Oh fuck yes
😜
any chance you would share your signal chain to get that tone? it's sick
Fuckin sick! 🤘
Please how di u get that tone
When you're tuned this low does the bass sit in the same octave as the guitar or have people found a way to go lower?

@@tomd341 idk how to tell the difference lol. The chinese ones are tempting for the price which is why I was wondering
