Got mine (ultimate ears) at the bike show 2018 (free moulds). Make a big difference on long motorway journeys. Used to get a bit of ringing in the ears at the end of the day (even wearing foam ear plugs) - since switching to these nothing. I find licking your finger and giving your ear a quick wipe helps seat them a bit easier. Thoroughly recommend them.
Great video as usual guys. Ive been using Ultimate’s for a year now and wouldn’t go back to disposables or the like. I ride the same bike as you Mark and they make the good old boxer engine sound sweeter i.e. no rattles etc from our noisy engines only the glorious deep rumble of all that power! If you ever retire tell Toby that I’ll be his fellow blogger, although I am in Bonnie Scotland!
I use the ASC earplugs, great service just called into my local Boots opticians after ordering online to get moulds. They do a number of filters depending on your need. They have very good customer service and the earplugs are neater, fitting into the ear canal and not the rest of the outer ear.
I've had custom plugs for the last 6 years, made by another UK company, ACS Hearing, and wouldn't go back to the squidgy throw away ones. I'm on my 2nd pair now as my last started to "tear\crack" after 5 years and a 100,000 + miles of usage. They make riding so much more comfortable by cutting down the road\wind noise, reducing the harmful frequencies and yet allow me to hear my intercom\music. I give mine a clean every few rides with a dollop of anti bacterial hand gel. The noise inside a helmet at 70mph has been shown to be over 100db ....irrespective of how "quiet" the manufacturer claims their helmet is. As riders we don't really notice it and so can be unaware of the damage being done as we build up to that level of db with a steady increase of speed. However, imagine going from a quiet room into a room with a Jack Hammer going, you'd notice it immediately. Audiologists will tell you that at 100db irreparable hearing damage will start after 5 minutes! Interestingly Ride magazine recently carried out some tests showing how loud it gets inside a variety of helmets and they were all basically the same - the only real impact to the db was the size and height of fairing, presumably by taking away some of the wind circulating around the head.
I got some custom fit guards at the Scottish motorbike show ,nice and comfy but on my GS the drone inside the helmet is terrible, I use them on my street triple and they're excellent ...better then foam for me
Hello lads. Re the ear cream. I have these ear plugs and use Aloe Vera Vaseline lip balm as a 'lube'. Just smear a film of it on the plugs. Perfect fit and great for your skin.
Have these a year and they are Super Comfy and deaden the noise rather than cancel it. As there is a port hole for audio, its quite good at picking up speech at Garages, when filling up. I have 2 sets already 1 for House(sleeping etc) and 1 for Bike, will buy the Bluetooth one next with 2 colour codes, 1 for each ear.
I agree with the other comments - much better that the disposable foamies. I had mine made by Emtec - a bit more expensive but they do a slimline version especially for motorcycle helmets with internal comms. When’s the review on the Honda CRF250L coming out? I hear that you had fun in the mud!
Hopefully they will send you a pair of the filtered plugs to review. I'm thinking about getting some of the filtered ones for Blood Biking as I wear hearing aids normally but not on the bike. I'm hoping that with filtered plugs I'll be able to hear people talking better when we don't need to remove our crash helmets. Should be better than the regular foam plugs I use at the moment and much easier to fit. Thanks for the review chaps and Mark, be careful not to get anything trapped in your pouch zip. Tempted to say it could ruin your ride (oooh Matron!) but that could be misconstrued 😂😂😂
I have a pair of elacin moulded earplugs that cost about 200€. They might be the best purchase I've made for motorcycling, and they also work very will with my packtalk bold intercom.
I too bought the basic set. They’re great for noise reduction, however I have trouble hearing my wife on the intercom & my music volume is now too soft. I’d recommend the set designed for music unless you run without it. Bought mine at a MotoGP. Fitted & supplied on the day, which was good as mine needed some more work as one had sharp edges that scratched my ear. As a former pilot & mariner bought mine in navigation red & green for Port & starboard ears. 👍🏍🇦🇺 one other thing, as they’re so expensive you must get in the habit on putting them into the pouch as soon as you remove them.
When I've used ear plugs that completely seal my ears, I've gotten ear infections. The foam plugs that allow some air passage don't cause any problems for me.
After years wearing disposable ear plugs finally last summer purchased these albeit with a rival company. If you want comfort invest your hard earned in these..you won't go back to disposable plugs.
Hey guys! Great vid, as always. Maybe these ear guys will be at the Lyon show next month. Will check them out. Good news - Passed my roadtest last week so am officially a biker! Even better, I ordered a very natty Yamaha Tracer 700 in matt black! Very exciting. Decided against the Moto Guzzi during my A2 period. Would be a fabulous 2nd bike later though. Let me know if you're ever East of Lyon. Be good to meet up for a drive and a coffee! PS where did you get your long-sleeved tops from? Cheers!
I've been using ultimate for years, they're very good. A bit gross when they inject the goop (yes I'm calling it goop)into your ears first time. I also get new ones every three years or so , as your ear shape changes.
Just ordered some speaker ones, off your other vid, and ordered red and green for port and starboard being a flight sim geek. Just waiting for them to be made and delivered now, been told a 15 day lead time
I ordered some at the NEC last year after using foam plugs for years. Have to say, not hugely impressed. The whole idea behind hearing protection is noise reduction and I do not find they are any better than decent quality foam plugs. Paid just short of £100 quid, which would have bought several lifetimes worth of disposable plugs, which I wouldn't lose any sleep over if I lost them. Good service from company though, they came in the post on time in a nice, if bulky little case.
Thanks for highlihting this company guys, I am using custom fit guards which I guess are pretty much same idea, just different company and they are fine. If they will be on MCN show in London i might get a pair to compare them and have a second pair. On the other subject, I've noticed that recently your videos (especially ones shot by Mark from shows) are quite crap in terms of the video quality - the lenses are dirty/smudged with grease from fingerprints or something and it looks awful. Also, if you have a bright window behind you when recording as you did in this video, there is no way the camera will be able to compensate for it and you get not really pleasant to look at picture plus the dirty lenses.... not great. The content you deliver might be great but if it is not paired with similar production quality, you are risking not gaining more subscribers or even loosing some because of that. Something to think about I guess.
Brilliant product. Had mine 2 years ago, and cable split. No questions asked, they replaced them! Awesome company

Cracking vid Lads well done 👍🏍

Good review both. Been tempted to get a set of these and after Mark said he could hear his music ok with them makes me more tempted.
Specsavers do something similar but with the convenience of being on a high street near you, plus they show you how to fit them once they are made.

Found them to be a good product, now on my second pair.

Use these myself. I got the set with speakers in for music 🎵. And have to say they are excellent.
I'm on my second pair. Absolutely brilliant. Also got 20/% discount through my insurer.

Probably a bit excessive - you'd be able to tell if your ears have changed or the silicone has shrunk as they wouldn't fit\seal as well.
“In the Navy” oi ginger!! 🤣🤣🤣 we know what you meant 🤣🤣🤣 Ginger beer!!
Pete G no you don’t know what I meant... honest. Ride safe
Hi guys, still waiting for mine to arrive from the same company. I was there at nec 2019
I can’t seem to find anything like it in the states . Would b great to have
Just ordered some speaker ones, off your other vid, and ordered red and green for port and starboard being a flight sim geek. Just waiting for them to be made and delivered now, been told a 15 day lead time
Mark Im looking for ear plug/defenders. Do you have an update for these please?
I ordered some at the NEC last year after using foam plugs for years. Have to say, not hugely impressed. Can you sleep with these in please? Like to know as i do a lot of camping.
Yes you can. Regularly do when I’m away

Michal Rybinski thanks for your comments.
Great video, thanks, im sold! Does anyone have a 10% discount I could use please? Just thought might be worth asking!
Check out tomorrow eve’s vid. Competition as well as a discount code too :)
Sponge earplugs every day, lose one put another one in, no problem. Been there done that.
Good info but please tone down the giggling and lame jokes.
MegaBrorsan Really? Ride safe.
thanks for the comment :)
Don't mind him, you are hilarious and good banter between you. A team show and tell is a lot more fun, than boring "talk to myself" solos.
