Heaven. Beautiful communion and intimacy with our loving powerful God, Lord, and Savior. I couldn't really put it into words.
Yay, Dr. Robinson is great. Regarding the idea that Resurrection was “forgot about” for a short time or something along those lines, nearly all scholars that aren’t super evangelical think Job was one of the last books written. Do you think a late dating of Job affects your view at all?
Hey Zach, thanks for the comment. Love your channel by the way.
That is quite interesting that you mention the idea that Job is dated late. I admit that I have not heard this idea. Even if that is true it does not affect the fact that I believe the ancients believed in a resurrection. I find that it is even likely that as early as Adam they believed in a resurrection of the dead. The first consideration you should be familiar with is the idea that he names the woman Eve "for she will be the mother of all living." This phrase is not talking about the physical life that she will birth all the living or that all the living will physically come from her. It is a spiritual promise based on Gen 3:15 that she will have the promised seed and those who believe in the promised Son will be resurrected. I think Adam believes in resurrection.
The second example is Enoch. Gen says that Enoch walked with God and was no more for God took him. There are three major possibilities: people did not believe in a resurrection, they believed in an intermediate state, or they did believe in a resurrection. The first, makes God take Enoch a punishment since God would have killed Enoch ending his life early when there was no further reward. This seems very improbable since all the language suggests that he was righteous and everyone would expect long life if not eternal life. Second, I'm not aware of any major views that considered an intermediate state so it seems highly unlikely that was how the passage would have been read. Lastly, God took Enoch must be a blessing. The reason for taking Enoch early was likely to avoid all of the sin and corruption that was about to happen. It was a blessing to Enoch to be taken early to be resurrected to eternal life later.
She's on point.
