Agreed. The Hellcat is a very cool car, but it's not only more expensive... the cost of ownership, in tires, is killer. Scatpack is the way to go for the average joe.
Echoxulan well if you have the money to buy a scat and supercharge it later then it’s better to get a hellcat because the scat 6.4 isn’t designed to be boosted so you’ll have to forge the engine which is expensive as well might as well get a hellcat 🤷🏻♂️
Owned a 2016 Scat, literally the best car to drive cross country. Living room comfort with 24mpg while doing 85 all day. Plenty of power and will just eat miles without beating you up
After years of drooling, I finally bought one. I got a 2021 Scat Pack widebody in F8 green with 13,000 miles. I can't express how bad ass this car is. It feels bullet proof inside. The Alpine system rocks, the exhaust note, the power, the ease of doing burnouts. I'm in love. I didn't want to trade my supercharged Tundra, so I didn't. Both are fun to drive.
Was telling you guys to review this forever.... I used to get blocked by Jakub in the live streams because I kept repeating it lol... This is the SWEET SPOT in the challenger lineup. Big V8, manual transmission, 20k cheaper than the hellcat, lighter than the hellcat, stiffer springs up front than the hellcat. This is my dream car, definitely ordering a 2021 in spring next year! Have saved up enough to buy it outright!
Unless you want to mod it, the 392 doesn’t handle mods well. If you plan on supercharging it later, anything over 500rwhp and you’ll need to build the bottom end. You’ll end up spending more than the hellcat to make pretty much the same power.
Especially when much of the 707 and 805 horsepower is unusable. What good is a blazing 0-60 time if it can only be done on slicks at a prepared drag strip?

3:05. There was a Super Bee Charger in various iterations between 2007 and 2012, according to Wikipedia. The original Super Bee was based on the Dodge Coronet, back in the late Sixties. It was the Dodge answer to the Plymouth Roadrunner.
I’m a prior Hellcat challenger owner and rented a scatpack charger via Toro on vacation. I got bored with the power immediately. Very meh and the 392 is not mod friendly for big power. You can get a slightly used Hellcat for a little more than a new scatpack. No brainer imo if you’re into straight line fun. You’ll need aftermarket drag radials to properly put the power down. Those coming from much slower cars may find the scatpack/392 enough.
This is a much better choice for a Canadian who might winter drive their vehicle. Remembering that the supercharger is pretty exposed and runs high rpms right out of the garage and only has ATF in it. A really cold day has always been something I worry about with these. I had a VF supercharger on my E36 M3 and it did NOT like cold days.
Watching you guys row/slam that manual trans is so satisfying you just don’t even know. The flappy paddle slap shifters may be faster but visually the videos lack compared to watching you drive a stick.
I think sometimes the hellcat is too much power sometimes and the scat pack is better at things so you should drive both to see what you like And yes I’ve driven a hellcat so I do know
What’s interesting is the challenger and cuda were originally in the Mopar E body line. The B bodies included the roadrunner, charger etc... and even beyond that, there was B body model called the superbee that only ran for a few model years and it looked something fierce. The superbee moniker then got applied to the 3rd gen road runners for a year and then was dropped until the 2000s reboot.
My Charger Daytona 392 (it's basically scat pack with deeeecals) automatic screams like from hell in comparison to Challenger SP... It's also super fun to drive (with caution as it swings pretty easily). I drive hellcat charger and I wasn't impressed, at least not 20k dollhairs impressed. Also Charger HC does not have the same options as SP (or chall hc...) for some reason 🤦
I own a '19 R/T SP 392 WB. I find the whine annoying. There's nothing like the sound of that big V8. Besides, 485 HP is plenty for a daily driver. The power is more manageable and usable across the range than the HC.
The 6.4 l V8 is a rock solid engine in the Rams ... No super charger and a manual... If you want a realiable vehicle that last a long time this would be the one...
The sweet spot in the lineup, is this car.. Definitely not the Hellcat. That car is so much more money, and so needless. If I could have any Challenger it is an R/T Scat Pack widebody with a 6MT.. I absolutely love these cars, and I would want mine exactly this way, except in Destroyer grey of course.
“This is the only one of the 3 that’s still a muscle car” yep that’s because the Camaro and Mustang are pony cars which are.... American sports coupes. The Challenger has been the only one that’s a muscle car this whole time.
As an owner of a 2019 challenger widebody scatpack the differences are not many and spending an extra 20k on a 'weeeee' sounding identical muscle car is not worth it. The scat pack packs enough of a punch if you know how to drive. I've driven my car from LA to SF on highway 1, took me 10 hours, and the car did not disappoint. I don't think ill do that again bc it's mentally exhausting but nonetheless well worth it.
I went to dodge in 2018 with every intention on getting a manual scat. Test drove it and loved it. Then they had a Hellcat sitting there and I asked is it that different? They handed me the keys annnnnnd I got the Hellcat. The scat is amazing but the Hellcat is just next level and it reminded me of the older fords from 2003 era (cobra, lightning, Harley). I’m happy with my choice and it was well worth the up charge.
Doesn’t the supercharger in the hellcat lessen the potential lifetime of the engine? Assuming both are *relatively* taken care of? I was able to get my ‘06 300 to 228k miles and I feel like if I had a super/turbo in it, it wouldn’t have lasted me that long....

Watching you guys row/slam that manual trans is so satisfying you just don’t even know. The flappy paddle slap shifters may be faster but visually the videos lack compared to watching you drive a stick.
This is probably the attainable Hellcat for most people lel
Not a hellcat
Areeb R. Except that it is not a Hellcat. All the people who liked your comment are idiots.
Even this car in europe would get taxed the shit out of it to like $120k rofl
Speaking Truths I didn’t think someone could actually be as dumb as you. Learn English first mate
Preston Quimby bro can you read?
I think sometimes the hellcat is too much power sometimes and the scat pack is better at things so you should drive both to see what you like
And yes I’ve driven a hellcat so I do know
Those Amber lights tho!!🤩
Heated seats help with back pain a lot, sometimes I even use them during summer
I love how these guys are just testing the whole challenger line up 😂
It’s so nice to see dodge bring back the history of mopar and the historic colors with the hemi brought back.
😳They really copied savagegeese's intro smh😤
But straight pipes video came out first

What’s interesting is the challenger and cuda were originally in the Mopar E body line. The B bodies included the roadrunner, charger etc... and even beyond that, there was B body model called the superbee that only ran for a few model years and it looked something fierce. The superbee moniker then got applied to the 3rd gen road runners for a year and then was dropped until the 2000s reboot.
Horsepower and torqueeeeee
Yuri's face depicts it perfectly :D
This is the Goldilocks of Challengers and the optional Shaker hood will make it look cooler than any Hellcat variant
Is it just me or does this sounds a WHOLE LOT BETTER than any Hellcat?
My Charger Daytona 392 (it's basically scat pack with deeeecals) automatic screams like from hell in comparison to Challenger SP... It's also super fun to drive (with caution as it swings pretty easily). I drive hellcat charger and I wasn't impressed, at least not 20k dollhairs impressed. Also Charger HC does not have the same options as SP (or chall hc...) for some reason 🤦
Its just you.
it don’t got that whine😔
Nate the whine is the annoying part for me
I own a '19 R/T SP 392 WB. I find the whine annoying. There's nothing like the sound of that big V8. Besides, 485 HP is plenty for a daily driver. The power is more manageable and usable across the range than the HC.
Yuri thank you for being on team Challenger
Hell yeah, V8 POWER 💪
In combination with the wide body, this green color is the best choice for the Challenger imo. Perfect engine too.
The 6.4 l V8 is a rock solid engine in the Rams ... No super charger and a manual... If you want a realiable vehicle that last a long time this would be the one...
Thank god, a new video. Had me watching throttle house while I waited 😂😂
And savagegeese 😳
love the horsepower and torque graphics!!!
You guys aren't old enough to remember the 60s
Very accurate statement
The sweet spot in the lineup, is this car.. Definitely not the Hellcat. That car is so much more money, and so needless. If I could have any Challenger it is an R/T Scat Pack widebody with a 6MT.. I absolutely love these cars, and I would want mine exactly this way, except in Destroyer grey of course.
“This is the only one of the 3 that’s still a muscle car” yep that’s because the Camaro and Mustang are pony cars which are.... American sports coupes. The Challenger has been the only one that’s a muscle car this whole time.
I had both, Hellcat is 100% worth the jump. It comes down to a pay to play scenario. If you can afford the Hellcat skip the 392
Hash I agree. I did the same. After driving a Hellcat, I sold my Scat Pack and bought a Hellcat.
Who else gets more excited by this supercharger noise than by their girlfriend??
Just me?.. Oh, ok...
Much love, your friends at Rev Media!!
It's probably because I don't have a girlfriend, but the thing I like best about American cars is their sound.
Snake Eyes same here bro, same here.
Combine them and you're golden, just sayin
Ryan Woahhh😮 A girlfriend powered by a supercharger?! I’m down!!
@@revmedia8108 haha not quite where i was going, but i appreciate the PG twist
People, including myself had no idea what the 392 meant. Thank you for explaining.
My problem would be knowing that I could've had a better version of it that went WAAAAAAAA

Technically, you can have differing liters of displacement for the cubic inches of the motor. The chevy 5.0l is a 305, where as fords 5.0l is a 302
It has launch control and 485 horsepower.... and the same front seats as my mom's Pacifica, just dressed up with some Alcantara for racy effect.
That's why we said we what we said in the video!
Doesn’t the supercharger in the hellcat lessen the potential lifetime of the engine? Assuming both are *relatively* taken care of? I was able to get my ‘06 300 to 228k miles and I feel like if I had a super/turbo in it, it wouldn’t have lasted me that long....
"Superbee" was a model in the late 60s and early 70s, a Roadrunner answer.
Yuri said "Deckal" but I think he meant "DEE-cal".... 🤣🤣
I also agree with deecal - Jakub
Decal
I think he was joking
@@YuriTereshyn Yuri is right it's decal
Eric Mathew that’s how I say it
This is the same car as the one Throttle House reviewed. Possibly the best car TH-camrs on YT🔥
"SRT" I think you meant R/T poppa
Says srt hemi www.dodge.ca/en/build-and-price/dodge/challenger/2020/21844/CAD00DOC191D2#step=packages
Why does it says rt on the front lol
*R/T scatpack
Dodge doesn’t consider scats to be SRT. Go to their official website.
@@TheStraightPipes 392s are "Powered by SRT" but they're not SRT branded cars. Just R/Ts with some upgrades to handle the "mo powa babyeh".
Buddy of mine bought a 485 horse Challenger....but, with a few slight mods....it cranked 540 horses on the dyno...N/A
If a guy buy this , does that make him scatman ?
