I know that Kreese eventually betrays Johnny, but I feel like he was being genuine with him in this moment. Great acting by both Kove and Zabka.

I agree I feel like Kreese is one of those characters that show villains are not born they’re made.
Based on the flashbacks scene I feel Kreese was never shown family love and affection so now he doesn’t know how to show it.

Kreese was definitely being genuine. The creators said Kreese would’ve accepted being second in command had Johnny not become “soft”

Kreese is one of those characters who show you villains are not born they’re made.
Based on the flashbacks I think Kreese didn’t have a father or father figure that cared about him so he doesn’t know how to properly show that he cares for other people.

If this was the gta verse. Reese could’ve played Dutch like a fiddle like how Terry Silver appeared working class and apologetic to Daniel and helping out Danny in karate after Mike Barnes the bad boy of karate attempted to invade his home. After all, Terry owes Kreese for saving his life in Vietnam. Even appearing like a homeless person. Just to guilt trip Dutch. Plus Silver heard about cobra Kai returning to the all valley after its banning. And with the victory, Terry allows Kreese to get back Cobra Kai. Because somehow he claims to owe a piece of Alpha Elite dojos due to nostalgia of karate. Maybe reminding who Silver really is.
