Building a 10x10 today, thanks for the video. Also live in Manitoba. Lost my motorcycle storage when my buddy got divorced, this seemed like a good choice for now.
Great idea putting tarps on the inside, I've put them on the outside when the original shed started leaking, so far so good, just have tie then down good, Cheers buddy!
I read one guy and he had his 10 years and doing great, also if you shrink wrap them , they will last another 6 or 7 years, talk to your local boat storage place
Hey had to redo my comment lol great video Curtis yes the held up really nice this year no major issues yet but what will happen once they do break make make sheads out of wood who knows love to hear your ideas almost time for cold starts lol thumbs up and shared
IT made it Right at 2 Years , Then i pulled them down as i did not think they would last another winter. & I had plans to start the shop build this year... But was unable to get a builder Now wishing i did not pull them down so soon LOL!!!
Create video Curtis yes they held up really I wonder what u are going to do once they do break make shead out of wood or something who love to hear to hear your ideas thumbs up and shared almost time for cold starts too lol
My Shelter Logic Garage-In-Box top failed within 8 months! No hail, high wind, snow, ice, branches or high heat. I wasn’t expecting much more than four years but this was unacceptable! Shelter logic sent me a new top within 10 days of putting in a warranty claim. To tell you the truth I have no confidence in the replacement. Any ideas why it would fail?
For the amount of money some people spend on these and they buy multiple, they could just get a building built. I have had good success with these in the past for projects like an old car or something I’m working on outside.
They were VERY Cheap , I could not even build the floor for a 12x20 for the cost of both of the shelterlogics. I only plan to keep them up till i get my shop built.
Great video. I'm in the process of building mine now-12x24x8....on sale at Canadian Tire :-) I used treated 6x4 ties and secured them with 2' long rebar. I live on Vancouver Island, so our weather is fairly mild, compared to your's.
@@anthonywilson6611 I haven't had any issues with the shelter so far. I did replace the front and rear plastic walls with a solid wall in the back and doors in the front.
@@84imreplica yeah a lot of complaints about the ends. It is what it is though. Thanks for the reply. Glad it worked out. We have weird weather on the island so it's nice to get input from someone who knows what we go through.
@@anthonywilson6611 A while back Canadian Tire had the 10 foot shelters on for an excellent price, so I bought one for my utility trailer. I used the stock ends and they do flap around a lot when it's windy.
@@84imreplica yeah go figure. I'm along the Juan de Fuca, and it gets windy lol a string of older growth trees were tipped over by the wind. Root system and all. It was frigging bananas.
I had the exact same one. Totally failed after one winter. I did not know they sold them with heavier material and snow load rated. I have a new cover waiting to install. Hopefully this does better. Just a note, mine started with those white spots and pinholes then with the next windstorm and snow it ripped apart.
Mine was kept very tight. It failed as a result of the UV rays deaerated the material very quick. I am doing the new install this week d and will be putting the heavy tarp under the new cover this time. Wish me luck .
Have mine for about 15 yrs. I am on my 4th tarp replacement. Here in Chicago its the intense summer sun cooking the tops of these covers. I believe it cooks the UV right out of the plastic and then its done . My most recent replacement I up graded to the 14oz vinyl w/ 10yr warranty for about $1000 !!!!!! lets go branden getting too old to replace the entry level ones every 3 yrs.
I've seen videos where people put an extra tarp on the top to protect from the sun. I wonder if we could paint the sunny parts of the tarp with white silicone paint?
I Thought about that! This weekend i am moving one of my tent sheds ,(Last weekend i moved the other) The last one i need to move is the 24' one.. I Looks VERY Dry looking and i am 90% sure it will destroy the top if i try to move it. , the 20' one i kinda killed the top during the winter almost right after this video when i punched the snow off it from the inside a little too hard..
@@Aquadicto I am already done deer hunting this year , fill my tag and my dad filled his. Not sure if i am going to upload the videos or not , kinda lost some of the video so will not make the most sense.
Those Shelter Logic units seem to be pretty nice for the most part. But for 400 dollars each, I'd expect them to have a more permanent material that can lost. Unfortunately, that material just proves the point, that these units are meant for just temporary use. Your going to really need to get your workshop built in the year 2021, otherwise you won't have any place to work if those units fall apart on you. Besides, a workshop build will give you some more video content for your channel.
I agree I brought them for Temporary use. I only thought they would last one year. I am thinking in 2021 i may just "start" My shop But like my dads shop when we built it... It took almost 5 years to get the inside done the way we wanted.
@@starpuss If a contractor took 5-years to build a workshop, they would be fired. So, I think if you just get a couple of guys, you should be able to knock it out in no longer then a few months. Remember, its not the space shuttle, it doesn't need to be perfect. It just needs to be functional, have utilities, and be able to be heated or cooled. Can't wait to see what you come up with though!
I thought it was , BUT at the same time i brought mine from my local Canadain tire so i think they had them made out of thinner stuff... Seeing they were a lot cheaper then anyware else so not 100% sure.
I have had 2.5FT on top. "many times" BUT I went to "push" from the inside to knock the snow off.. And Well Lets just say... That did not go well , Best to use shovel to move snow off it , or roof snow shovel As i damaged my top (split 3FT) from just taping the inside with that snow load.
It was Standard Cheap Onsale model. I brought it at my local Canadian Tire. SO IT was thinner then anything they list on the website from what i understand.
That's About all they last. Seems to be normal , But All depends the location you buy them from As some Retailers have them with a much Thicker Tarp than others.

Thank you for sharing. Great to see an old Land Cruiser under shelter, too!
Those really seem to be good functional structures for the money. Stay warm!!!
Well worth the price!!

good temp shelters thumbs up shared
Thanks for checking out the video dad!
I know in the Video i say "factory seams" But.. what i mean to say is "folded"
I think the factory should start rolling the material up instead of folding it, there seems to be a huge issue doing folds.

I find if you put gorilla tape on the seams when they start going it helps.
I have a 10 x 16 it’s on its third winter.
I Brought a Roll of Gorilla tape when i first brought them just incase , also i also have a few dozen Tarp Patches just incase lol
The shelters have held up pretty good with the strong winds and very cold temperatures!
A LOT better than i thought it was going to be LOL!
Well done review....I`m considering one of those at the camp....CHEERS
Well Worth it!

Mine held almost 3 years, minor holes like u have. PVC helps a lot, mine was PE. Tarp over and 2x6 is the best idea. Last storm threw mine all over.
If she makes 3 Years then its was WELL WELL Worth the price!
Create video Curtis yes they held up really I wonder what u are going to do once they do break make shead out of wood or something who love to hear to hear your ideas thumbs up and shared almost time for cold starts too lol
They where only meant to last till this year , But i am glad they are still holding up seeing i never got around to starting my shop LOL!
Lol don't worry Curtis you will get to your shop hopefully soon
Put a tarp on the outside and the shelter canopy will last longer. Because the Sun and weather are hitting the tarp and not the canopy itself

I agree 100%
my 12x 20 the snow crusted it, I could have been in the garage when it collapsed not good
This must be the standard cover that seems to be the source of all the bad reviews. I wonder how much longer the 2 upgraded covers last.
10’ opening 12’ on the outside.

My fabric began to shred after 2 years and now Im stuck with a skeleton
How long do you think something like this would last if I removed the tarp through the winter? Im looking at boat storage between April-October
Should get at least 3-4 years out of it i would think.
Maybe longer if the sun is not on it as much.
How deep do the rebars go into the ground?
On this one 4' , the other one i only did 3'
Which quality top did you get with this?
Lowest End possible. As it was the cheapest available

So basically life expectancy is 1-2 years in real northern Canadian weather extremes
