Once when Elvis was warned that he shouldn't go into the audience because "they might rip your clothes off", Elvis replied that it was okay because "they" (his fans) had paid for his clothes. He always wanted to his fans to know that he loved and appreicated them because he never forgot that without his fans, he was essentially just a guy who could sing.

He was also always in money trouble because he liked giving people things so much. Any time he was questioned about it, he'd say he could just go do more shows if he needed some money.

He did this routinely during his residency at the International Hotel in 1970 and 71, always when singing Love Me Tender. I was there for 10 shows with my sisters; we were all in our early 20's. We paid Emelio a tip every show and got to sit in front right by the stage. We all got kisses at every show, he talked to us, used our handkerchiefs to wipe his face and was so handsome and fantastic in person. He smelled delicious (wearing Brút at that time) and was so kind to his fans. He loved us and we all loved him right back. The best memories I have of being 21.❤❤❤

Once in an interview he was asked if it bothered him when fans swarmed his car as he entered a stadium, ripping off wipers etc . His response " Naw they paid for it " . Too many performers today would scream outrage . It's been said he would visit with the fans at the gates of Graceland on almost a daily basis . He truly loved his fans as much as they loved him .

Great reaction. One of the ladies in this video is from the UK. She told her story a few years ago to an Elvis channel. The guy chatted to her telephonically... she said her husband was with her that night and he had no problems with her walking up to Elvis to get her kiss (6.17). Her husband is also a huge Elvis fan and understood this special moment his wife experienced! In general I would say the men felt that way because Martin Sheen, the actor said "Elvis was the 1st singer back in the 50's who was liked by both boys and girls and they loved his songs."

Elvis on velvet pictures was in nearly every household I visited as a child. Grown women were completely loyal and in love with him. My husband and I visited Graceland a few years back. What hit me the second I walked in was an overwhelming feeling of being at home. It's a beautiful house but feels like a home. It felt like a happy home.

😅😂❤Yes, this happened..😊It must seem very strange to people, in fact I’m sure it is strange to people now, that he would do this. But as someone who had the pleasure of being here for the Elvis era, I can tell you that it didn’t seem strange to us at all-at that time. Lol. He was SUCH an amazing entertainer, and his phenomenal voice will never be replicated. There were so many dimensions to him and he was such a pleasure to listen to and watch. His concerts were amazing. He certainly loved his fans and to this day they still come from all over the world to pay homage to him at Graceland. His catalogue includes R&B, Pop, R&R, Gospel, Folk…..there just wasn’t anything that he didn’t do well IMO. There will never be another. But sadly, he never had a full, peaceful life. 😢❤

I've even seen it from young reactors that weren't born while he was alive, some actually swoon over his voice, looks and the swag.

    - - - Insightful point you both made. Unlike those who don't know music history, Elvis was not stuck in any one genre, not by a lightyear! He is the most successful artist who fluidly morphed into any genre he wished: Country, Pop Ballads, Adult Contemporary, R&B, Appalachin/Bluegrass, Gospel, Traditional European Hymns, Rock, and even some German & Italian music.

He was so funny. Just right off the cuff. Like did you see the exaggerated way that he was patting all the perspiration from his face and brow with that woman's handkerchief or whatever it was before he gave it back to her? That's hilarious! But it's so simple and fun-loving!

I doubt any other performer in history did this during a concert. I was just 14 when I heard in August 1977 that he died at age 42. "King Creole" (1958, black and white) is a movie you need to catch someday. Elvis made about 31 feature films, and he stated that he was most proud of his acting performance as Danny Fisher in "King Creole". Anecdote: I knew a guy who said that he was in the army and in a chow line in the late 1950's (Germany, maybe), and he looked up and Elvis was behind the food serving it up to the soldiers.

I became musically aware pretty early on in my life and I still enjoy music so much everyday... When the British invasion and Motown came into existence I was so thrilled... Elvis music has always been my 1st love and my "go to" music... Great reaction, guys...and as always...Keep Being Awesome !!!...

God bless ya, folks. Dont mind the hecklers. Elvis himself had a great sense of humor. He realized he was captured in this parody of himself and he laughed at it too sometimes. His fans are like a religion. My Brothers mother in law met him several times and has letters and scarves from him on her walls. Her and Milt loved him like a son. She would literally kill us if we dared say anything bad bout him

Elvis did anything he wanted and if kissing was it, he made a spectacle of it. Nowadays people would think of cold sores and such but those women took their chances 🥰🥰

Thank you both for all your lovely Elvis reactions. I like it a lot. The fans loved Elvis and Elvis loved his fans. They made him big. That´s something Elvis never forget, so he gave it back in grateful attention to kiss his female fans and shake the hands of his male fans. We will love E1vis for eternity.
Would you please react to Elvis song PATCH IT UP, live 1970:

This is half the reason you went to an Elvis concert-to get a kiss, or a scarf. He was southern-we regularly kissed to greet people in the south-it was called a peck!

I had never believed it when my professor in college, both a musicologist and professional symphony musician, himself, told me that he viewed Elvis Presley to be the greatest overall singer of all time. "Why?," "What the hell?," so many of us said? With him first going on to ask what's Frank Sinatra's greatest and/or signature song? "My Way," someone eventually said and then the professor proceeded to show us various polls from over the years which listed Sinatra as the greatest singer ever. Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin were also on top of some, and Elvis, too, on a few. But the point of the exercise was to simply show us Sinatra was considered by many, though it's subjective, to be the greatest.
The class then listened to Sinatra's "My Way," and then Elvis' version, back to back. With the room being roughly split as to whose version was better, "which proved what I thought?" But then the professor showed us Elvis rocking out to 'Trying to Get to You' from the Elvis 1968 Comeback Special. With the point ultimately being that regardless of whose version of 'My Way" you preferred, Elvis was right there, totally at home playing in Sinatra's backyard for lack of better parlance.
But as to Sinatra playing in Elvis' backyard, he said, it couldn't be done, as he said "[i]magine Sinatra, (who he totally loved) trying to do that rock number?" Then going on to say that he had found no singer who had ever sang more genres, more majestically, than Elvis, & he challenged us to find out for ourselves by looking at his full catalogue of Rock, Pop, Soul, Country, Ballads, Gospel and more.
And, when done, I admit I became a convert who was so, so doubtful, at first, I can't even begin to tell you. But from rocking out to 'Trying to Get to You' from that Elvis 1968 Comeback Special, to singing about the dream of humanity coming together with "If I Can Dream," from the same show, I believe you will see what I mean. Elvis even had a voice that could be operatic if you go and listen to 'Hurt' and his version of "You'll Never Walk Alone" will tell you why he has also sold more gospel records than anyone, as well as just tons more, overall. But, with pop and 'Such A Night' to a ballad such as 'They Remind Me Too Much of You,' he did it all, and so, so damn well. While for soul, check out 'Long Black Limousine' or 'You're Wearin' That Loved on Look' which is a bit of another number. Becausde as Elvis' one album cover says, there's 'Something for Everybody.'
Also, and if ultimately you don't think Elvis is the best, that's totally cool as there really is something for everyone!;-) Great channel and I wish you the best!!! ~ Christopher Tyler
P.S. Those recommendations are only, quite literally, the beginning!

I love this story. Thanks for posting it and I totally agree with your teacher. Pavarotti even said that Elvis could sing like him, but he couldn't sing like Elvis. He said Elvis could he been one of the best opera singers with a little training. ❤❤❤

@@jennyjorgensen9935 Thank you, Jenny, and you're quite correct as the 'Three Tenors' loved Elvis! As Placido Domingo had also said if there was any one voice he could have in the whole world it would have been that of Elvis. Have a great night!

Love your reactions. For all his lovers that have written books and kiss and tell have all had one thing in common that Elvis was the Master at making out sometimes for hours where they had kiss burns around their mouths. Also it was said by his Memphis Mafia ( buddies of his that worked for him and went everywhere with him) that Elvis had a field day in Germany and Paris while in the service when it came to women 😅 I mean, he loved women and we sure as hell love him back!!

It is funny for me to watch people’s reaction to this video. I saw Elvis twice in concert in the 70s. This was part of the show. He always kissed the girls. No one even thought of germs. It was a badge of honor for a man if his girlfriend/ wife was kissed by Elvis. 🤣🤣

His "guys" were scared to death for Elvis; you can see them walking around him trying to make sure he doesn't get trampled. Elvis RARELY went into the crowd(only this time, while in Vegas) You can see why they were concerned 😅

Different times and mindset. Also in 1970 there were definitely less overweight people. I was in high school in 1970 there was maybe one fat kid in a class. Elvis was not your average star...he was the first real super star. Thanks for reaction great fun ❤

The trivia question for this song should have been "when was this song written?". The answer is that it was written during the American Civil War. The song was originally called "Aura Lee" and was about a girl named Aura Lee who had golden hair and whenever she was around, swallows filled the air. Of course new lyrics and name were written for it and it became "Love Me Tender".
