You'd enjoy most of it, I imagine. Brunswick stew is a hearty tomato-based stew with beans, veggies, and some sort of game meat. Every area does it a bit different, but the dies is the same.
The brisket is an experience. People often say it is like meat and more like beefy butter. It has the softest texture and a very mild smoked taste without seasoning or sauce added.
BBQ baked beans are my favorite summer side. I grow my own beans and make it fresh.
Some other sides I don't see on this table are baked Mac n Cheese, hush puppies, banana bread pudding, and devil's food cake. Yum!

Yeah, the kids thought biscuits were weird scones, which is true. But what they did not get is that the gravy is béchamel sauce made the way rustic French people really made it hundreds of years ago.
Similarly, the Chicken Fried Steak of Texas is the actual real schnitzel impoverished Germans made 150 years ago. But we serve it with cream gravy, which is béchamel.

If you guys ever do get the chance to come to the US, I highly recommend the South. A lot of people want to to visit LA or NYC, but honestly, the South is just SO much more laid back, with just as much to keep you occupied, and absolutely amazing regional food.
In terms of the south, Florida is usually where people like because the Gulf beaches are nice with White sand, or Miami (I don't recommend Miami, especially if you have kids), but where these 2 went (Savannah, GA) is AMAZING for families, and WAYYYY more chill. They have beaches a short ride away on Tybee Island, some AMAZING history (pirates and all kinds of stuff), lots of drinking culture (if you're into that), and great places for families, and as you can see in this vid, insanely good food.

Okra: a green vegetable that very closely resembles a jalapeños shape but has more of a squash like texture. When you eat it raw it’s slightly crunchy but when you do the glorious wonderfulness of deep frying it in a light breading, it gets sort of slimy & soft on the inside. Very tasty fried! Heck, I’ve even baked okra before and it still turned out amazing.

Brunswick stew is not an acquired taste but more of a acquired visual. Most people not of the south, get a bit queasy at the sight of Brunswick stew but the taste is amazing. So close your eyes and take a heaping spoonful. You’ll love it. Our baked beans are generally dark brown from the brown sugar in them and topped with onions and bacon. Okra is a vegetable of the south. Served fried (my favorite), stewed, boiled, broiled, pickled, or served in gumbo. It goes well with fried green tomatoes and grits. We used to grow okra in the backyard and had to pick it with gloves on because of the prickly thorns/spikes/needles (need help here. Not sure what to call the prickly fuzz on the plant)

To make BBQ you need to order Rendezvous BBQ sauce and dry rub. Order Hickory wood chips. Boil ribs in water on stove until they soften. Coat in white vinegar and rub down with dry rub. Put on charcoal grill with the hickory chips. Cook low heat and covered until the bones almost fall out. Add BBQ sauce and serve. Memphis style BBQ.Don't have to leave England. Pulled pork is BBQ shoulder cooked at 275 f in oven for as long as it takes for meat to fall off the bone. Maybe 10 hours. Pull off meat in VERY large chunks and put on grill and cook like ribs. The beans are same as breakfast beans . Add chopped onion ,brown sugar, mustard ,catsup, Lay smoked bacon strips across top (1-2) strips.Cook in oven in a small pan at 300f until bacon looks cooked crispy. Dice bacon after it cooks and add back to beans. sugar is about 1/4 cup per can and mustard is about 3tbsp. per can and catsup is 1/3c.You can add 1/2 tsp. dry curry if you want. Makes Brown BBQ beans. Best grill is a kettle grill with lid. Split chicken is cooked same as ribs. Its not EXACTLY how we cook it in Memphis but close enough. Get sauce and rub online.

Okay, full stop: chocolate chip bourbon pecan pie. They're being cautious there. *That* is Derby pie. They can't call it that, because the name "Derby Pie" is trademarked by Kern's Bakery in Louisville, Kentucky. Derby pie is Kentucky's contribution to southern cuisine, and you guessed it! It's traditionally eaten during horse racing season, and specifically during the Kentucky Derby. Even in Kentucky, everybody makes it, but only Kern's can call it that, so you also see it as "May Day pie", "horse racing pie", or "chocolate chip bourbon pecan pie".
How do you make pecan pie better? Add chocolate chips and bourbon to it, of course!

There is another southern tradition that is similar to Hawaiian tradition. Instead of roasting and turning the pig over a grill or fire pit, southerners would did a hole, put hot coals in with a tarp over it, then the pig with stuffed herbs, then another tarp with hot coals on top. The difference is that Hawaiians use palm leaves instead of tarp to add flavor. Then they bury the hole. Leave it over night, by next afternoon, there is a cooked pig. You don't have to add bbq sauce or salt. That is often how they made pulled pork.

I live on the border of Texas and Oklahoma in the USA. We are considered beef country because of our cattle. BBQ is a staple of our diet and this is NOT exaggerated. The best food is found in the south and if on the coast, the seafood is incredible. When you guys visit, you should know though that even in the south, there are delights to be found that are that states delicacies. You will NEVER be hungry in the south.

Try the Carolinas for delicious pulled pork with a variety of sauces. Eastern North Carolina uses a vinegar based sauce primarily, tomato based sauce in the western part and mustard based is predominate in South Carolina. All good!!!

Blue cheese salad dressing. The traditional dip with Buffalo wings. Though it's supposed to be for the carrot sticks and celery you eat to cool down your mouth.

      While we’re on the topic:
Just for clarity, Buffalo wings aren’t bbq. For that matter, most “bbq chicken” is not bbq.

Texas brisket is all well & good, but it's only one jewel in the triple crown of beef brisket, smoked chicken, and babyback pork ribs. For babybacks, the competition is between Memphis, Tennessee and Kansas CIty, Missouri.
Also, you have to have your sides: mac & cheese is not optional. Green beans, spicy baked beans (or even burnt end beans), coleslaw, cornbread or biscuits (ignore Texans on this, they'll serve you plain white bread, Texans aren't southern enough to make cornbread or biscuits), potato salad or roasted redskin potatoes drowning in butter, choice of beer, sweet iced tea, or lemonade to drink, and fruit cobblers (peach, blackberry, or apple) for dessert are what makes southern barbecue what it is. You wouldn't have a Sunday roast, and *not* have potatoes, peas, carrots, gravy, and Yorkshire pudding, would you? Of course not!

Brunswick stew is truly a warm hug. You’ll most likely only find it in the deep South. I live in Northwest Arkansas and you won’t find it anywhere locally.

When you go to a new place with new foods never go to eat with the mindset of I or we do not like this , this , or this. Try it all how they serve it, order things you normally wouldn't. That is how we grow as people. Things taste very different from country to country. Including beans. Heck Tea and Coffee taste different just because of the water used to make it.
