Yes!! Five string! After hearing your four string, I’ve been searching the Internet for a five string base just like this with the same pick up configuration.. I absolutely love that tone
🍣 I definitely think the finish should pretty much be the same as the 4 string. The relic and the shiny blue is fantastic. I think it would be pretty undeniable as to who the bass is affiliated with for people who are familiar with the channel. Thanks as always for inspiring!
I like the tonal profile of this bass a lot! I've never tried the Trickfish pre, but the whole aperture seems useful. I've heard all your basses many times over, and own a score of basses myself. Subjectively, I would absolutely add this to my stable. The looks are the icing on the cake. I hope this works out for you Janek. Enjoyed this video very much!🤜
Beautiful bass! I love double P's I had a custom double P's bass built by Tom Clement a builder out of Florida. It's a great bass by all standards. Double P's give you a whole different sonic quality, I also love reverse double P's as well.
I'm 21 minutes in, forgive me if you get to this later in the video. I'd love to hear the front pickup solo'd passive with your hand over this pickup to hear how the bass model does with a more classic P sound. take care! 🍣
🍣 looks awesome, Janek! I would be interested in one of these going forward. I actually received my Mattisson Series IV 5 string, that is in the JG style, just today. It’s an incredible instrument so thank you for the inspiration always!
Lovely new Bass, looking forward to the Book, your instructional techniques help this old Bar Band Bass Player enormously. (I pre-ordered it weeks ago).
Regarding the 'classical' playing position, I literally found your music. When I(a guitarist) decided to start really trying to learn bass(rather than treating like a big guitar) that position just seemed like the logical, comfortable way to play. When I noticed that most bassists had the bass sitting on their other leg(usually right), I asked on a forum why no one played the way I did. Several people said 'there's a guy named Janek who does, you should check out his stuff...'
Really happy to see this build work out for you, Janek! Hoping that the big import tariffs coming next year won’t affect the short run of these basses and RKM’s business model in general :[
I really want to buy your new book, but I'm specifically looking for *How to Make Bass Chord Shapes* from the modes and scales. Do any of your books offer this reference?
Lovely looking bass Janek! Sounds really cool in your hands obviously. Would buy/play it in a heartbeat, but no need/budget for a new bass Thank you so much for the content you create, I always leave with inspiration.
🍣 I love the color as is and would do it in gloss. I’m hoping to make it out to NAMM, working on securing a ticket. Looking forward to playing it in person. Haven’t played an RKM.
Wow Janek , what a sound. It sounds so cristal clear, even compared with the other RKM. So so good! Would love to see more of the blue colour, and the Relic as well (:
Yay! New bass day. And it’s not even Xmas yet! Sounds great, looks weird. :-) I find double P a bit kooky, but hey - it’s not for me. Enjoy. Hope to see it in a tour soon. Love what you do.
I have to admit, I’m not a fan of the sound of the blue 4 string at all so I was skeptical about this 5 string…. But this thing sounds amazing. I really love it. The nordy pickups and trickfish combo really work for this. Great Job!
I love the sounds you’re getting from that bass, and good god: you’re such a music machine when you’re playing an instrument you like! I got myself a semi-hollow bass with P/J pickups and man, it’s so much more fun to play at low volume. Haven’t played it live and I won’t for a long time, but so far it’s temporarily turned me against solid body instruments
Nice color! It will be cool to have the 4 & 5 options…question: why not using a 3 string retainer in the headstock if you guys are using the hipshot retainer…
Dude! That’s beautiful. I dig the color, matte would be sweet. I’ve always been on the j side of the j vs p battle. But this thing…it sounds so dang good. Quick change battery? Only E to C? Or will they have a B to G option? What a great project, man.
Already playing a 5str 33" JB..... Thinking about a 5str 33" PB....and here you are😎🎸👍🍣🍣 Will the strings spacing be an available option ? What are the basic tone difference with the reverse P compare to regular P ? How about the weight ? Sound is in the fingers....totally différent from the Matthison....but sounds like YOU definetly. Sounds great, sounds little different to a Jazz bass but it's in this range, for me, nothing new but sounds really good. For me, the only thing to change is the tuner set, i think is better to go with 3+2.
I like the gray-blue in contrast to the neck. The sound has an interesting new flavor compared to your "corporate sound". String spacing at bridge 18 mm?
What a great bass for you! It balances the vintage and modern feel you go for, and its tone is clear and true. Of course the tone has a lot to do with your hands, this bass helps! :) 🍣
When i was first really getting into bass, i was certain that i would love a Warwick Thumb and that was my dream bass because my favorite bassist at the time (Ryan Martinie of Mudvayne and Soften the Glare) played them. I live in Alaska so it's hard to try instruments out so i took a trip to CA and tried every single bass i could get my hands on. When i got to the Thumb i didnt like anything about it. It was heavy, the neck profile amd steing spacing wasn't for me, it was twangy and thin sounding, it was ugly... just all around not for me. Eventually i lamded on a Musicman Bongo, which didn't initially pull me in based on appearance but the sheer versatility and comfort of it sold me. Now 18 ish years later, i have a custom bass built by a local friend and it suits my playing well. Finding something that fits you is really important and for a lot of people it isn't what they initally imagine.

That colour is gorgeous and I really like the chrome hardware too. Just read that the president elect is proposing adding 25% tariffs on goods from Mexico once in office though, so that’s a bit of a downer
I'm sitting here with my brain whirring, trying to work out how on earth I can scrape together the cash to get my hands on one of those 😁Sounds great, love the unique spec. Really like the colour on the close up camera (eg 24.59) rather than the flat grey appearance on the front, main, camera. Still wouldn't say no though 😆
