      TwisterOS. Possibly the closest thing to Linux Mint on the Raspberry Pi so far.

  • @FursaFarfasha
    @FursaFarfasha 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    FydeOS is new for me, but I agree with your rankings, except I would switch Raspberry PI OS with Twister OS. I just find that I run into so many more issues trying to theme PI OS (or change DE) than I do with Twister OS. (Yes I have watched your theming video.) My ideal OS would be Twister OS based on Raspberry PI OS 64bit. I feel like the March 4 64bit beta is pretty stable.

      A Problem I had with Manjaro arm XFCE is when the system times out and blanks the screen it will not come back. Had the same issue with manjaro x386 KDE as well on another system. Used multiple monitors and same issue.
      I find that Ubuntu Mate 20.04.1 performs the best on my PI 4 8 gb And settled on Linux mint for the X386 system.
      I liked Manjharo but the lock up thing with screen blanking killed them for me.

    Personally I love Raspberry Pi OS and Twister OS. Raspberry Pi OS is made for Raspberry Pi and the only OS I recommend for desktop usage on the Raspberry Pi. Twister OS is also nice but because of the download size factor, it becomes my second choice. BTW Just got my Raspberry Pi 4 2GB variant

    This was not exactly comparing the operating systems, but rather desktop environments, all of which you can install on pretty much any Linux distrubution. I don't use my daily driver Fedora because of its default desktop environment Gnome... I don't even use Gnome. For Raspberry PI I would suggest Raspberry Pi OS Lite. Uses less than 90MB of ram when idling. :) Don't really see the point, or many use cases, of using a desktop environment in an embedded device.

    in my opinion, Manjaro is the best-one for every one: but like ubuntu(mate) the only probleme is : "How to play Netflix or Prime video on Firefox ?" How ever , this 2 os are really the best. the only default for Twister os is Google Chrome. All aplication on twister os is great and runs very well. but You can ignore Google. ( it really good play Netflix Prime and other VoD web video , but it's google)
    I Love Google, but some time i wanna see more, and my raspberry pi is usefull to see other system os and environnement that works prettywell ( without using a Virtual machine)

I like Manjaro more than Mate but Pi4 is just a little too under powered to run Manjaro. I have the Mate overclock to 2147 with hardware accelration enabled so once I have that figured out for Manjaro, I'll have a better comparison on the pi4.
