    I have an almost full options CVT Mirage from 2015 with 130.000 km, from new, now seven plus years old. It had zero defects. Zero. Naught. Nill. 0. Not even a light bulb broke. 4.5 l/100km on average in northwestern Europe. Still has original brake pads/liners and battery. I drive carefully. Oil change every 15.000 km and no oil consumption to speak of. Had to change fluid in the CVT at 80.000 km, which was kind of expensive. No visible rust, but I know that the engine cradle is rusting a bit (road salt in winter). Nothing to worry about for the next 7 years though.

  • @MH_Bikes
    @MH_Bikes ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Amazing car, full tank $35. Easy to fix, well built (zero rust in 8 years, no rust proofing or oil; but going to start this year).
    5 speed so no CVT issues. Timing chain, not a belt. Water pump easy to change.
    Not my first Mitsubishi or 3 cylinder.

    I've been debating on buying one of these Mirages for a while now. I fell in love with the design the moment I first laid my eyes on the car. How would you say the experience is when driving uphill or going over potholes? I've read that hills can strain the engine a bit but not too much detail on actual performance.

    • @ilovecables
      @ilovecables  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've never had an issue with hills as long as I'm in the proper gear. Potholes are handled surprising well considering how light the car is. It doesn't soak them up the same way a larger heavy car does.

      Initially I found it "odd" because my last car was a MINI Cooper with sport seats that were leather, and offered very good support for spirited driving. Now, I find the Mirage seats are very comfortable - I guess they've molded themselves to my body. I've spent up to 2 hours in my car, and have no body aches at all. They aren't cushy like a luxury car, but I don't expect them to be. I'm considering getting some sheep skin seat covers in the future.

      @@ilovecables thanks for the info. I got my Mirage ES (Canada) last week. I love it! Got the WeatherTech mats you suggested (just for the front) and you are correct, it is worth the money. I bought an arm rest but it is not the factory model. I am likely going to buy the leather wrap for the steering. Yours looks really nice, did you install it yourself? If not did you get someone from the GTA area to install and if so can you provide shop details and install cost? Is it possible to install the leather wrap without removing the steering wheel/airbag/controls ? I noticed your model has cruise control -- I am assuming that was standard on your model -- unfortunately mine did not come with it. One more item I got was the UltraRacing sway bar however I have not had that installed yet. Just had the car Krown rust proofed and had Norman 7 winter tires installed. Really happy overall. I noticed that scrapping ice off the side mirrors caused them to move so I am worried it might strain the electronics as they are powered. Might get some deicer spray so I don't have to scrape as hard

    • @ilovecables
      @ilovecables  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@vanfifty139 I had a shop here in Ottawa install the steering wheel cover. They charge me 3 hours labor. Any shop in the GTA that does auto upholstery should be able to do it. You could do it as well if you have time and patience.
      Cruise control - it didn't come with it. I bought the steering wheel control switch and clutch pedal switch online (OEM parts) and got help from another Mirage owner (who did it himself) to tell the ETACS to recognize it. The process took about 20 minutes, but doing the research and being told over and over again that it can't be done by the dealer took about 9 months! I'm persistent when I set my mind to something. I'm glad I got it to work - for me, this car with cruise is the perfect commuter. Why the IUS market gets in included, and us Canadians don't on the ES is mind boggling.

      @van fifty I'm picking up a 2023 CVT ES model on Monday, my youngest daughter had purchased her 2023 ES 5-speed this time last month.
      The only thing that I would worry about with the rear stabilizer bar is would you be giving the dealer an exscuse to not honor warranty work?

    • @vanfifty139
      @vanfifty139 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@suzannetisseur2872 Congratulations! I am sure you will love it! Not sure about the warranty. If I recall correctly the dealership said if I have the Krown rust proofing Mitsubishi would not honor my warranty. Not sure if they could legally do that in Canada. I got the Krown rust proofing anyways and would highly recommend it for those living in corrosive environments and plan on keeping their vehicles for many years (e.g. >5 years). I bought the sway bar based on my test drive of an earlier year auto trans. model and other feedback online. Driving the Mirage for about a week now and I don't really see the need. Some have mentioned it also helps in highway cross winds (e.g. Trucks passing). I did notice some movement today on the highway (it was windy today). Since I already have the sway bar I will probably install it and hope it doesn't effect the overall warranty.
